Chapter 3 - Mr. N's "Secret Base"

Liam and Mr. N walk through the snow.

The city streets are dead, Greenland's population is rather low afterall. Mr. N side eyes Liam so hard he can feel it crawl up his spine, wondering how Liam doesn't freeze to death in these temperatures with no coat.

Liam 6'11 muscular is walking through the snow with no T-shirt in the freezing cold. Annoyed he asked Mr. N."Now what?" They're going to hunt us down anytime now. Any big ideas?"

Mr.N cracks a genuine smile.

"Stop being so sarcastic, You underestimate my intelligence."

Liam: "Underestimate?"

Sips*

To underestimate I have to first put value on lol, What a silly goose. Liam thinks to himself.

Mr.N: "My special base of operations where I have urgent matters to attend to. You will be safe there with us."

Liam shakes his cup, 'this is pretty good'… he whispers before responding to Mr. N "Why do you still sound so determined and convincing? You already won. You already convinced me to follow you. You can drop the act now."

Mr. N's dye'd blonde hair waves in the wind.

Mr.N: "It's not an act, Liam. They might not have been through what you have, however my entire army is filled with soldiers like you. With nowhere else in this world to go."

Liam states "You speak with such emotion, with confidence in every word. N, I'm jealous. I couldn't do it even if I tried."

"A man with your physique is jealous of speech? You should hold yourself to a higher regard. Your body is a human weapon."

Liam falls silent. As it all comes back to him his heartbeat speeds up.

He knows better than to embarrass himself with self-pity.

I can't raise my voice. I can't shift my tone to show how I feel. I can only whisper. If I ever spoke louder than my owners allowed, I was hit. Flogged. Disrespected in ways I can't say. Disciplined.

Liam: "Arrogant statement from such a smart man."

Mr. N: "I agree I apologize." Mr. N side eyed as if watching his science expirament.

As Liam looks at his shaking hands he curses at himself softly " It's as if my very existence is a reminder of the man I failed to become.

Mr. N finally arrives at his Secret base with Liam

As Liam sneezes he thinks, Someone must have been thinking about me. I haven't been sick since I was a child...

In the helicopter they look down at the ground beneath them as they jump out.

Mr. N descends gracefully, the boosters in his boots firing at just the right moment, breaking his fall with effortless precision.

Liam, by contrast, slams into the concrete like a discarded ragdoll completely unfazed, as if gravity itself is just a minor inconvenience.

Mr. N watches, his composure slipping for half a second.

"He's the closest thing to a superhuman I've ever seen... This is ridiculous."

Suppressing his shock, he clears his throat and casually gestures around.

"Anyway, uhh welcome to your destination, hope you enjoyed the ride."

Liam ignores Mr. N speaking like he's a flight attendant just brushing it off as immature humor.

As Mr. N's mind finally focuses he gets back on topic.

Mr. N: "This is my tertiary work camp. It's run by my student Demisaux. But this week's special. A lot my best men are hosted here Allen, Osprey, etc there just like you. I'll introduce you to them all soon enough. As for now, you are going to be stationed here. In two days, I will grant you a squad consisting of some of my best men to go rescue your friend. Until then, keep yourself entertained and out of sight."

Liam sees technology as he walks into his room, a slight smile growing on his face.

Liam: "Whatever you say, hotshot."

Mr. N: "Just a heads-up don't do anything reckless. My sniper... Well, let's just say he's not the most stable. One wrong move, and he might splatter your brains everywhere. And that, my friend, would be a terrible investment."

Liam: "How considerate of you. Really warms my heart."

Mr. N: "Ha ha. Quite confident, aren't you? Just try not to get yourself hurt."

At the gate of Mr. N's tertiary work camp lies a great stone wall. Such a big wall surrounding the compound as if guarding something vastly important. It almost felt out of place… As outside the wall was nothing but ruins and a city of people starving.

The path to hell is paved with good intentions

Tonight is the night. The night of the meeting. All 10 of Mr. N's personal elite guards will be in the same room after 3 years. After abducting Liam from their ally Greenland. Mr. N finalizes his plans to overthrow the president and obtain that position for himself through the long awaited "Presidency Battle".

At the gate of Mr. N's tertiary work camp lies a great stone wall. Such a big wall surrounding the compound as if guarding something vastly important. It almost felt out of place… As outside the wall was nothing but ruins and a city of people starving.

No way in hell they could get into these walls. Yet these walls were well maintained and stood high with pride. As if closing itself off from the poverty around it as if it'sdisgusted with the suffering beyond them.

Atop the wall were two guards. Osprey rested his head comfortably in the lap of a young woman, her fingers busy with a handheld video game that beeped and chirped with childish enthusiasm.

These were the two guards.

Osprey broke the silence with a whisper, his voice low and casual, as if discussing the weather.

"I'm not a fan of this Liam guy, Aespra. How mad do you think the boss would be if I, you know… accidentally killed him?"
