Chapter 1 - 1 - Pilot

I always told my friends how reincarnation stories were all the same — totally generic, made for dumb people.

But, by some cruel irony of fate, I could never have imagined it would actually happen to me.

It was a night like any other. I left the company where I worked after a long day — one of our clients was demanding a project ahead of schedule. I'd already told him a million times it was impossible, but he just wouldn't listen.

Anyway… when I got to the parking lot, I started searching my bag for my car keys — until I noticed something.

"Damn it! I forgot my keys…" I muttered.

No point in complaining. I'd have to go back to get them.

When I returned to my office, I noticed a light was still on. Strange — when I left, I was the last one there. There shouldn't be anyone else.

I went to check what was going on, and as soon as I stepped inside, I saw three strange men stealing several architecture projects — the very ones my colleagues and I had been working on for days.

Filled with anger, I shouted:

"Hey! What the hell are you doing?!"

"Crap! I thought no one was here! Run, run!"

They grabbed the papers and bolted. I managed to grab one of them by the arm and yelled:

"Where do you think you're going?!"

That's when I felt something pierce my chest.

I looked at the boy I was holding — he couldn't have been more than fifteen or sixteen. Just a kid.

Then I looked down and saw a knife buried in my chest.

My strength left me all at once. I released his arm, letting him escape, and collapsed to the floor.

"So… this is the end?" I thought.

"I still wanted to live so much…"

My vision began to fade into darkness.

But that wasn't my end.

When I opened my eyes again, an overwhelming joy filled me — along with an urge to cry. So I did. I cried and screamed.

"I'm still alive! That brat didn't kill me!" I thought, relieved.

But the feeling didn't last long. A huge face was leaning over me.

I looked at it with a mix of fear and confusion. It was a woman's face — dark hair, her skin glistening with sweat as if she'd just run a fifty-kilometer marathon.

Her brown eyes gazed at me with a tenderness I couldn't understand. Then, in a gentle voice, she said:

"It's a healthy boy."

Her enormous hands caressed my face softly… and in that moment, sleep took over me.

As I sank into that deep, wonderful sleep, a thought echoed in my mind:

How could that woman be so big?

And how could just a gentle touch make me fall asleep?

Deep down, I already knew the answer.

I had reincarnated — just like those silly stories made to fool idiots out of their money.

Now… whether this was another world or not, I had no idea.
