The sky was black again.

Cities had fallen. The oceans had swallowed continents. Humanity scattered some beneath the earth, some among the stars.

But the light never died.

Beneath the frozen wastelands of what was once Aurelia, something pulsed faint, rhythmic, alive.

A forgotten heartbeat in the dark.

The Explorer

The airlock hissed.

Dr. Lira Solen stepped into the chamber, helmet lights cutting through ancient frost. Her boots crunched on crystallized earth as she descended the forgotten corridor. Her oxygen monitor blinked 76%.

"You're sure about this, Lira?" her partner's voice crackled through comms.

"The readings are unstable."

She smiled faintly. "Unstable means it's still alive."
