Just then, a young, vibrant girl peeked in.
"Um... is he cured?"
It was her, the girl who had first helped Uchiha Nagi up on the road, and who had brought the unconscious Uchiha Nagi to Tamayo for treatment.
Having lost too much blood, and having fainted from Chakra depletion after activating his Mangekyo for the first time and traveling through space and time, Uchiha Nagi's life could have been taken by anyone in such a state. If she hadn't brought him to Tamayo, Uchiha Nagi would likely have died from excessive blood loss after fainting.
Fortunately, he not only met a kind girl but also a demon who didn't devour humans.
"This is Kagome. You fainted on the street, and she brought you here—" Tamayo said.
The girl seemed carefree, but when she saw Uchiha Nagi, her cheeks flushed, clearly desiring something... "Um... Doctor Tamayo, did she cure you? Doctor Tamayo, how much is the medical fee? I might not have enough..." The girl scratched her head, embarrassed.
"It's not necessary..." Uchiha Nagi was about to say he had money, but then he realized a problem and his mouth twitched. His money was from the Naruto World and certainly wouldn't be accepted here.
"Hehe, it's not necessary. I merely helped Mr. Uchiha stop the bleeding; there's no charge. Besides, I still need to learn Medical Ninjutsu from him later," Tamayo said.
"By the way, Mr. Uchiha Nagi, due to some special reasons, it's not very convenient for me here. You can stay at Kagome's house while you're recovering. Kagome lives alone."
Because she and Yushiro were demons, they used Blood Demon Art to conceal their house to avoid their own kind. If the scent of an unfamiliar human were to linger in the house, it could easily attract trouble.
"Oh, really? That's wonderful!" the girl exclaimed joyfully.
Uchiha Nagi: "..."
Is it safe to bring a stranger home? And so, after Uchiha Nagi left Tamayo's house, he followed the girl to her home—
As night fell, the bustling streets were filled with people coming and going. There were vendors selling their wares, beggars along the street, and even elaborately dressed courtesans waving handkerchiefs from the second floor to attract customers.
"Hey there, young man, want to come up for a cup of tea?"
"Oh, what a handsome young man! Sisters, look, look!"
Kagome's face darkened, and she angrily grabbed Uchiha Nagi, quickly pulling him away from the spot.
Uchiha Nagi looked around, a little dizzy. There were no Ninja, no wars; this was a peaceful world, somewhat like the Steam Age, with electric lights, cars, and internal combustion engines.
There were also reinforced concrete buildings, and police patrolled with batons, only carrying guns in emergencies. If there were no such creatures as demons here... Uchiha Nagi felt as if he had returned to modern times; everything was so familiar. If history had followed its normal course, the internet would probably appear in the near future.
At night, in the home of the girl Kagome, Uchiha Nagi sat on a cushion, gazing at the starry sky, holding an instrument and playing a tune.
The girl Kagome looked at Uchiha Nagi with a dreamy gaze. She had never heard such a beautiful melody; it felt as if she were truly there. A scene unconsciously appeared in her mind: a man playing an instrument on a grassy field in her hometown.
When the song ended, Kagome came to her senses, her face slightly red, and she said shyly, "Nagi-kun, that song was so beautiful. What's it called? Can you teach it to me sometime?"
"Yes," Uchiha Nagi nodded. "It's called 'Original Scenery of My Hometown.' If you like it, I'll teach you."
"Really? Thank you so much, Nagi-kun."
Hometown, such a distant word. The Naruto World wasn't it, and neither was this world—
After Kagome rested, Uchiha Nagi took out the scroll from Fugaku's house.
Susanoo, Izanami, Izanagi—these were all ocular Ninjutsu born after the Uchiha Clan had developed the Sharingan to its extreme over thousands of years.
Uchiha Nagi would not use the latter two; their side effects were too great, sacrificing one eye for each use. So, only Susanoo remained.
Susanoo was the least costly technique, requiring only ocular power. However, before the Mangekyo advanced to the Eternal Mangekyo, using it too much or too frequently would lead to direct blindness.
Unless—
Uchiha Nagi looked at his missing left hand. Mangekyo's ocular power wasn't impossible to restore, but it recovered extremely slowly. Otherwise, Madara wouldn't have fought the First Hokage for so long. But if he transplanted the First Hokage's cells, the recovery speed would increase by a hundredfold.
However, the First Hokage's cells were more terrifying than cancer cells. Fortunately, White Zetsu's cells were a second-generation diluted version, which was milder. Still, transplanting White Zetsu's cells would require some experiments to be safe, and he happened to understand Medical Ninjutsu.
Uchiha Nagi touched his right eye. Because his Chakra had been depleted, his body's power was concentrated on supplying his left eye. Although his right eye had awakened, it was still dormant. As soon as his body returned to normal in two days, he would know what his right eye's ability was.
Many but not refined—that was Uchiha Nagi's true portrayal. Because of his greed, and more so because he lacked a Kage-level instructor, he tried to learn everything, but ended up mastering nothing.
Like Itachi, who excelled in Genjutsu; White Fang, in Kenjutsu; Might Guy, in Taijutsu; and the Fourth Hokage, in Flying Thunder God. All the protagonists had one characteristic: good teachers, some even having more than one.
This was also why Uchiha Nagi agreed to join the Demon Slayer Corps. In the Naruto World, he had no good teachers and couldn't learn the top-tier Ninjutsu. Having many Ninjutsu but mastering none was more of a helplessness.
However, when Fugaku was disheartened, he let Uchiha Nagi pack some of the clan's Ninjutsu, which was enough.
Uchiha Nagi picked up a sword, a completely black sword that was not sharpened. It looked more like a decorative sword used for ceremonial purposes.
Under the resonance of the Mangekyo, Uchiha Nagi felt a strange energy within the sword's body.
But Uchiha Nagi knew that anything placed in Fugaku's study was definitely not simple. After much thought, he concluded that it was most likely the Sword of Totsuka that Itachi used to kill Orochimaru.
The Sword of Totsuka—
A special sword for the Uchiha, exclusive to Susanoo, passed down through generations. Itachi left Konoha Village after the Uchiha Clan massacre.
The Sword of Totsuka was either given to him by Fugaku before the massacre or on the night of the massacre. Clearly, Fugaku didn't know Itachi had the Mangekyo before the massacre, so he couldn't have passed it to him then. It must have been given to him at the time of his death.
Now it had been intercepted by Uchiha Nagi... [PS: In the anime, the Demon Slayer Corps' leader first greets Tanjiro and Tamayo, but Tamayo and the Demon Slayer Corps only started cooperating in the middle of the story. The author has moved this forward here.]
