Chapter 3 - The Traveler and his Task

I Die

Fucking really Die!!!

It devoured everything — sight, sound, even the faintest sense of touch. I couldn't feel my body anymore, nor could I tell how much time had passed.

At first, I thought I was sinking… no, floating — in a sea of pitch-black water. A sea without waves, without light, without end.

And yet… I could breathe.

Time — or whatever it was — kept slipping away.

I tried to count the seconds, the minutes, the days... but after reaching ten thousand, I lost track. Every attempt ended in failure.

Eventually, I stopped trying.

And that's when I remembered them.

Morris... and that girl. Those two shits.

No.

Those psychos.

I thought she was the crazier one — but I was wrong. My brother... that bastard was far worse.

He slit my throat. My own brother slit my throat.

What kind of person could do that?

Than I remember.

I was supposed to be happy. I was finally about to start a real relationship — after two months of talking with her. She was my batchmate.

Her voice was soft, her eyes beautiful. Every time I saw her, I fell for her all over again.

And her cute name...

What was her name again? I can't recall.

Wait...

What's my name? Even I don't remember my own name.

I know my brother's name.

I know my parents'.

Even that Bitch's name...

But not mine? Why?

And then — something changed. Some force full me .

The sea of darkness began to shimmer with white dots.

No... not dots. Stars.

It wasn't a sea at all — it was space.

I was floating in space.

A strange pressure built up behind me. When I turned, my heart — or whatever was left of it — froze.

A massive figure stood there.

A being cloaked entirely in white, five meters tall, his hands and sharp chin the only visible parts.

He opened his mouth to speak—

"I'm t—"

"What the fuck are you ?" I snapped before he could finish. I glanced around. "And why the hell are you roaming around in space?"

The being tried again, but I cut him off once more.

"Wait, wait! You're... Yama, right? The god of death? So I'm really dead... but where's your bull? Or... are you just freelancing today? Damn, guess I was wrong not to believe in gods after all."

He sighed deeply, then spoke in a mature, resonant tone.

"Can you please stop talking for a moment? Then I can answer your questions."

I froze. His voice carried weight — old, powerful, patient but firm.

"I am what you'd call a god but not your death of god," he said slowly. " I'm what a being who roams from universe to universe. The place we stand now is called the Pathway of Universes."

He looked down at me with faint pity. "I found your soul wandering the Black Void, so I pulled you out. After seeing your memories... I must say, your end was unfortunate, child."

The memory of that knife flashed in my mind. The pain. The shock. Those Laughs..

Seeing the pathway which was i sanding is made of with millions of white dot or star somthing.

"So this Pathway connects other universes?" I asked.

"Yes," he said. "It also leads to the Realm of Souls. I was on my way to a world , there when I found you. I can send you to that realm of souls where you'll find your path of reincarnation there."

I fell silent. For a moment, I thought of begging him — to let me live again, to let me provide some power to take my vengeance.

But before I could speak, the being stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"...Or," he said, "you could do a task for me."

That caught my attention.

"A task? What do you mean?"

He lowered himself until his height matched mine. His presence felt overwhelming, yet strangely gentle.

"Yes," he said. "A task. If you complete it, I will personally grant you anything you desire."

"Anything...?" I swallowed. "Like... getting my old life back? Or taking revenge on my brother?"

The being hesitated. "That would be... difficult."

My heart sank

until he added, "But not impossible."

I felt hope for the first time since death. "Wait for me, Morris," I muttered under my breath.

Wait

" Is there possibility of my brother and that girl

Beging reincarnated " i ask the god.

" No it not be possible trasfer of other soul is not happen just doing a ritual or preying to a Demon" say the being clearing my doubt than after with confidence i ask.

"What's the task?"

He smiled faintly. "It's not an easy one. But since you've read that book — the one that got you killed — you should be fine. You must win the God Trials Tournament by defeating the the hero's and heroine which, held by the most prestigious academy in that world — Lumariya. Win it, and I shall grant your wish."

I froze, staring at him. "You mean the novel Hero of Present? You want me to go there? The world where death hides behind every corner? And you expect me to fight the most talented generation alive — including the twelve god-chosen heroes and heroines?!"

He didn't flinch.

"So... I'll be reborn as one of the heroes, right?" I asked hopefully.

He shook his head. "No. That would cause a butterfly effect."

"Then... some important side character?"

Again, he shook his head.

"...You're kidding. So I'll have nothing? No bloodline? No special lineage? No backing? How the hell am I supposed to survive, let alone win? Everyone in that world has a cheat or a blessing. You're not just sending me there because I know the story, are you?"

He smiled slightly. "Knowledge alone isn't enough. But finding you — in that Black Void — wasn't coincidence. Fate brought us together, child. So I'm giving you this opportunity."

I didn't know why, but something deep inside me agreed. It didn't feel like coincidence... or fate. Just instinct.

"So," he said, his voice echoing through the stars, "are you ready for a world of magic and mystery... child?"

He raised his hand — but I quickly interrupted.

"Wait! You still haven't told me how I'll be reborn! And you don't even give me any cheat !"

"Oh, right. My apologies," he said, and reached into his robe. A glowing white orb emerged, radiating warmth and light. Without warning, he pressed it against my chest — or my soul's chest — where my heart should be.

"This will act as your guide," he said.

"A... system?"

He smiled. "Yes. It will function exactly like that."

Relief washed over me. Finally, something made sense.

A system like the anime and manhwa i read , a really system he he he,

"As for your reincarnation," he continued, "you'll begin at the same age as the heroes. You'll awaken as a commoner — no bloodline, no family, no backing. But the system will guide you. Complete side quests, grow stronger, and you'll stand equal to the protagonist himself."

I nodded slowly, determination settling in. But one question still burned in my mind.

"What if I fail? What if I die before the story even begins... or lose the tournament?"

He fell silent. Then, in a calm, honest tone, he said,

"I do not know what happens if you fail. But I do know what awaits you if you succeed. So... don't fail, child."

A golden light began to surround me, pulling me in.

"Wait!" I shouted. "What should I call you, god?"

He smiled faintly beneath the white hood.

"I have many names... some forgotten even to me. Just call me—Traveler."

Traveler, huh? A suspicious name for a suspicious being, I thought.

"I'd tell you my name too," I said softly, "but... I still can't remember it."

He chuckled. "It happens to wandering souls."

The light grew brighter, consuming me entirely. His final words echoed faintly as I was pulled into the vortex of space.

"We'll meet again... when you complete your mission."

And then — everything went white.
