"That's... light?"
The priestess saw the radiance hurtling straight toward Iwi territory. The beam from the murals in her mind overlapped with the scene in front of her, and for a moment she couldn't move.
She hadn't waited for the prophesied girl. Instead, she'd seen the light first.
Was it light that brought destruction , or light that brought salvation?
"ROAR!" The lead gray giant ape heard it too. It turned its head and saw a dazzling brilliance streaking toward them at full speed.
Midair, the light slowed and coalesced. A massive figure took shape , silver and red, order and vitality, blazing bright. Its eyes locked onto the apes below.
BOOM!!
Like a meteor touching down, the giant landed beside the mountain ravine. The earth shuddered under the impact, a deep tremor rolling outward from where it stood.
In the giant's raised palm, the Iwi girl from the surface clung to one enormous finger and peered carefully over the edge.
'She is... the prophesied girl.' The moment the priestess saw Jia, she knew. The resonance shared among the Iwi never lied.
Had she been the one to guide the light here?
The Iwi gathered near the stone temple stared at the giant that had just dropped into the middle of the battlefield. They had lived in the Hollow Earth for countless centuries. They had never seen a Titan that looked like this.
But this was also the first time they had ever seen a Titan that made them feel safe. Something in their hearts was telling them , this one would not hurt them.
The giant apes, for their part, stared at the newcomer with open confusion. It was roughly their height. Where had it come from?
The gray ape , the one the others called the sage , went completely still the moment it got a clear look. Wide eyes. Not blinking.
Wait.
What?
Ul... Ultraman!?
The giant slowly bent down, set the girl from its palm onto the ground, and gestured for her to return to her people. The sage ape still hadn't fully processed what it was looking at.
Time had been short, so Natsuki had transformed early and flown Jia over directly.
He'd made it just before the fighting started. Good enough.
"Whoever sent you here , I'm asking you to leave." A low, resonant voice rose simultaneously in the minds of all ten giant apes. "There's no reason for this fight. Walk away."
At the same time, every ape felt it , a thread of dense, pure energy radiating from the giant's body. Something primal stirred inside them. An urge to consume it.
Plan change.
The sage tightened its grip on the green crystal axe and didn't let instinct take the wheel. It studied the giant, comparing it against everything it remembered about Ultraman.
The resemblance was there. Unmistakably.
Is this actually happening?
Why is there an Ultraman in the MonsterVerse?
Bro, you walked onto the wrong set.
It didn't know much about Ultraman lore. But it knew one thing: these guys hit way above ordinary Titans.
Still. The squad it had brought was no ordinary squad. Handpicked elites, every one of them , the best among the Titan giant apes, a force capable of steamrolling entire Titan armies. By the sage's estimation, each of these apes was at least on par with the monsters that appeared in Ultraman episodes. And those monsters? Their destructive power had always been pretty limited.
Its gaze dropped to the Color Timer on the giant's chest.
Right. Three-minute limit.
This one didn't ring any bells. Nothing special about the design. Definitely not a major player.
If it came to a fight... the advantage was theirs.
"ROOOOAR——!!" The sage let out a thunderous roar and leveled its axe at the giant.
It had a mission. The Iwi's Hollow Earth passage had to be seized. That passage was a critical prerequisite for the surface conquest, and it wasn't leaving without it.
'Block us if you want. Ultraman or not , you'll end up the same as them.'
The giant caught those words directly from the sage's mind.
And paused.
Something was off here.
A sharp light flickered through its bright eyes.
"ROOOOAR—, !! ROAR, , !!" Two Titan apes carrying stone clubs broke from the pack and charged. Their massive bodies pounded the earth with each step, each footfall sending shockwaves through the ground. One came straight on. The other launched itself high, club raised overhead, swinging down hard to put this giant in its place.
The giant moved without hesitation , one hand forward, one upward, palms clapping together.
FWOOOOOM! A high-pressure Ultra Water Stream burst out and caught the airborne ape dead-center, blasting it backward through the air before it could land a single blow. Strong knockback. Clean.
The giant redirected the stream at the charging ape. Aimed straight for its eyes. The jet hit with explosive force and stripped it of all vision instantly.
THUD! The giant's right foot drove into the ground. One sharp step forward, rushing straight at the blinded ape. Energy gathered in the left hand. Through the ape's blurred, water-drenched vision, a massive hand closed around its face.
BOOM!
"ROOOOAR,, "
A point-blank light bullet detonated against the ape's skull. The shockwave was savage , violent enough to rattle its brain inside its head, destroying its sense of balance. The explosion hurled it sideways. It crashed to the ground, wailing.
More apes were already closing in from the front.
But the giant's eyes were on the one it had blasted into the air , the one about to come back down.
It stepped back. Arms crossed. Energy started gathering between them, a sharp light crackling and condensing at the crossing point.
"ROAR!!" One ape reached the giant just as the technique completed. Perfect timing , for the giant. Both arms snapped open horizontally. Four cross-shaped blades of light blazed into existence and shot outward.
BOOM!! Two of the Cross Slashers hit the charging ape squarely. They punched through its hide and detonated inside the flesh. The explosion launched the ape off its feet and sent it slamming into the ground. It didn't get back up.
The other two Cross Slashers split in opposite directions and converged on the airborne ape that was still falling. Same result. It hit the ground unconscious.
WHOOSH!! A boulder came screaming in from behind.
The giant felt it coming before it arrived. It used the lingering flash of the explosion as cover, backflipped clear, and let the boulder crash harmlessly past. For a moment, it disappeared from the apes' sight entirely.
Two apes plowed through the dying explosion-light, chasing the gap ,
A light bullet punched out of the flames first. Brighter than the firelight. One ape took it straight in the chest with no time to react. The bracelet-fired shot hit like a bomb. Crackling energy surged through its entire body in an instant and locked every muscle rigid. It froze where it stood.
The second ape broke through the smoke and saw an uppercut coming up from below with everything behind it.
BANG!!
The giant's right fist , pulled back, fully loaded , cracked against the underside of the ape's jaw. The jawbone split. The brain went white. Tens of thousands of tons of body weight meant nothing. The punch launched it clean off its feet.
Without breaking the follow-through, the giant pivoted on its left foot, spun, and went airborne in one fluid motion. The right leg whipped around and slammed into the paralyzed ape, sending it flying in the same direction as the first.
The two apes collided mid-arc and hit the stone wall together. They embedded in it.
Five giant apes down.
In the span of a single breath.
