Spring sunlight bathed the Morgan townhouse in soft gold the morning Sophia burst into the living room, breathless and glowing.
She held an envelope behind her back.
Alan and Zoey bounced around her legs, chanting:

Sophia rolled her eyes dramatically.
"It's for your parents, you gremlins."

Inside was her high school graduation announcement.
Jake's jaw dropped.
