Chapter 30 - Pure immortal form

The initial searing pain and anguish that overwhelmed Chuck was replaced by something else — something he couldn't quite fathom. The nerves in his body didn't register the torrent of flames bombarding his being, and his vision started to blur slightly.

Before Chuck could get an idea of what was going on, the surrounding areas before him darkened as his body felt limp. The next instant, his body dropped to the ground, the divine essence of the Infernal shroud that once shielded and protected his being from harm's way dispersed into oblivion.

The pulsating organ that oscillated violently in his chest began to slow down, and Chuck felt his consciousness slip away gradually. But before he passed away completely, he heard a familiar "ding" sound in his head, which signified that a system message had emerged. But Chuck was too weak and light-headed to open his eyes, he didn't know what the last message was, and everything darkened, as his senses ceased to exist.

"Finally, he's dead. See it wasn't that hard to get rid of him, Bobby was going too soft with him during their last fight," Cube said, turning around to face his group as a large grin could be seen on his face.

"Wh… wha… what the fuck have you done!!!" one of them said, his expression filled with shock as a vein popped on his temple.

"Why did you kill him? Do you even understand the complications and consequences of killing someone? Do you!"

"Fuck the consequences, snart. We're the only ones here, so it makes it less complicated. We both know that Bobby would have killed him either way, we only made the pace quicker," Cube said with a carefree tone.

"No you made the pace quicker," Snart shot back, looking clearly infuriated, it seemed like he was a second away from lunging at Cube.

"Why the fuck did Bobby make you part of our team members!"

Pitch, the last of the three members sent after Chuck, stood with a calm look, accessing the situation before it got any more dire. He stared at Chuck's body that was still covered in scorch marks, as it laid there, completely motionless.

"Enough with the arguments guys. We need to think ahead. Chuck is obviously dead, and we need a way to dispose off the body before any other team comes across it," Pitch said with a straight face.

"Were gonna have to incinerare the body until there is nothing left for anybody to find. Individually, our fire spell will not be enough to get rid of the bones, but if we combine our powers together, we should be able to obliterate it."

Pitch walked over to Chuck corpse, taking a closer look at it. The smell of burnt flesh and muscles hit his nose as he inched closer to Chuck. The smell coming forth from Chuck, along with the odour that seeped out from the dead beasts made him feel like puking.

Pitch raised his hands, about to activate a spell. Slowly, tiny flares of flames wrapped around his arms, almost reaching his shoulders. It almost seemed like the device on his wrist was going to get damaged, but it didn't. The flames intensified, as Cube and Snart could feel the heat from their position.

Pitch pulled his arms backward slightly, about to project the flames forward with speed, but he stopped instantly as he noticed something. The inferno of flames quickly dispersed as quickly as they came, and he took a few steps back. His face was filled with a horrified look.

"What the fuck, Pitch!," Cube shouted, seeing that Pitch canceled the fire spell.

"Did you run out of mana or something? Fucking burn the body already."

Pitch didn't pay any attention to Cube as he stared at Chuck body. Right before him, he saw the deep burns on Chuck's skin healing. The rotten flesh and muscles concealed, as his body repaired itself with incredible speed.

The blood stains on the surface of his skin got absorbed into the bruise opening, the bruises in turn, healed itself, making it seem like the initial burns were never there to begin with.

Pitch stood there, staring at Chuck's body healing itself. He felt a chill run down his spine as a realization entered his mind.

"Is he still alive? Even if he is, then how is he healing his body at this speed? Even the best healers I know of can't perform such a feat."

Cube and Snart, looked forward, trying to understand why Pitch wasn't proceeding to burn Chuck's body. They saw the impossible occurrence unfold before they eyes, and they were left speechless.

"H… how? I definitely killed him, my fire powers completely overwhelmed him," Cube said with a horrid look.

"Well it doesn't matter. I can't let him live, I'll just finish the job properly this time."

Without any form of hesitation, cube shot forward, releasing a tunnel of flames towards Chuck's body as it laid there on the blazing sand. The streams of flames shot with intensity, reaching Chuck before the others could react.

The flaming attack engulfed Chuck, after a while, Cube lowered his hands, as the tunnels of fire ceased its advancement.

The group expected to see a disfigured body laying on the ground, but what they saw next made their heart skip a few beats.

Chuck was completely fine, end the wounds on his being was erased entirely. His body seemed to let out a a golden glow that illuminated their surroundings.

The next instant, Chuck's body shot up, making the group flinch in shock. They looked at him as he stood up right, trying to understand what they were up against.

The person before them looked like Chuck, but it didn't feel like Chuck. Chuck's eyes were covered in a fierce golden glow, his expression stayed in the same darkened state as he stared at the three figures before him.

The trio felt a chill on their beings as they stared at Chuck who had apparently risen from the dead.

Before they could attempt to conjure any spell to kill him, the entire composition of Chuck's body changed drastically. His skin started to fall, the hair on his head slipped down his being, and every tissue on the surface of his being disintegrated. His body lit up in flames, as a golden glow of inferno shrouded his being.

It seemed like his body was made out of pure golden flames, his actual body wasn't visible anymore. This form was very different from the infernal shroud, it looked like Chuck was a living being of fire.

[ Pure immortal form has been completed ]

The fiery being turned its head, taking a deep look at Cube and his gang. Almost instantly, it raised right hand, and a golden beam of light escaped from it, shooting forward, making a piercing sound as it cut through the air.

*Plop*

A sound was heard, almost like a huge figure falling onto the groud. The group turned around, eager to see what was the cause of the strange sound, and the scene that met their gaze made them stumble, almost falling off balance.

Cube's body laid motionlessly on the ground, clearly deceased. But that wasn't the worst part about it. Cube's body could be seen without its head. There was no trail of blood, no residue bones, nothing.

The head was gone, almost like it was erased out of existence. And all it took was the blink of an eye.
