Dawn came too quickly.
I hadn't slept at all, just lay there staring at the ceiling and imagining all the ways our plan could fail. All the ways our children could die because we made wrong choice.
"You should eat something," Kael said, though he hadn't touched his own breakfast. "Going to need energy for what's coming."
"I can't. My stomach is too twisted." I pushed the tray away. "What if this doesn't work? What if Lady Morgana betrays us or Lady Catherine realizes what's happening?"
"Then we find another way. But sitting here worrying won't help."
A knock interrupted us. Elena entered looking exhausted but determined.
"Lady Morgana arrived ten minutes ago. She's in the east wing meeting room. Lady Catherine doesn't know she's here yet."
"Good. That gives us time to coordinate." I stood, ignoring my body's protests. "What's the timing?"
