A messenger interrupted us. "Your Majesties. There's someone at the gates demanding to speak with you. He says his name is Lord Daemon and he has information about the Weaver that you need to hear."
We all froze.
"Daemon is dead," Kael said. "I killed him myself. We buried his body under the ruins of his fortress."
"This man claims otherwise. Says he escaped and has been hiding while recovering from his injuries. He's willing to prove his identity through magical means."
"It's a trap. Has to be."
"Probably. But we should at least see who this person is. They clearly want our attention badly enough to claim they're Lord Daemon." I stood slowly. "Let's go see what this is about."
"Elara, you're still recovering. You shouldn't be dealing with potential threats."
"I'm fine. And I'm not missing this. If someone is pretending to be Daemon, I want to know why."
We went to the gates with heavy guard escort. What we found there made no sense.
