Chapter 235 - Mind Over Matter

The laboratory was silent except for the low hum of machinery and the faint, rhythmic pulse of golden light.

Soren stood before the Mind Gem, its radiance spilling across his face like liquid sunlight. He didn't attempt to seize its vast spiritual power not yet.

Even he knew that without a perfect medium, the uncontrolled energy of an Infinity Stone could annihilate everything within reach.

He let the gem hover above his palm, studying it. Such delicate brilliance… such terrifying potential.

The corners of his lips lifted slightly as he thought to himself.

"So far… five."

In his possession gleamed five of the six Infinity Stones… Time, Space, Mind, Reality, and Power. Each one pulsed in harmony with the next, like a choir of cosmic hearts beating in rhythm.

His mission, the one imposed upon him by the system, was nearly complete.

Five out of six.

The thought stirred something in him, anticipation, almost joy, though buried under a layer of solemn restraint.

Yet even now, a shadow lingered in his mind. The last piece of the puzzle had not yet revealed itself.

The Soul Stone, the most elusive, the most dangerous.

Said to hold dominion over life and death, capable of stealing, bending, or rewriting the very essence of one's being. It was power unlike any other.

"The last one…" he murmured. His golden eyes gleamed. "The key to creation and destruction."

For a while, he said nothing. The hum of the machines filled the air, steady and distant. Then, exhaling softly, he pushed away the thought.

There was work to do.

He turned his focus to the body suspended within the regeneration cradle, the vessel Ultron had built for himself.

Even now, its surface shimmered faintly, the intricate lattice of Vibranium etched with mysterious circuit-like engravings that channeled dormant energy through every fiber.

Soren ran his hand across the transparent surface of the chamber. "A masterpiece of design."

"Ultron's ambition wasn't his flaw… only his heart."

He placed the Mind Gem gently at the body's forehead. The golden light flared, illuminating the runes of circuitry like veins awakening to life.

Instantly, a surge of spiritual energy rushed through the chamber, a tide of consciousness and resonance.

Soren's own mind connected to the vessel, his essence threading through Vibranium and synthetic nerves until he could feel the body as if it were his own.

A strange sensation took hold.

"So this… is what he intended," Soren whispered, flexing his new fingers through the projection of the body. "A being of mind and metal. No weakness of flesh."

Through the channels Ultron had designed, Soren began to carefully stimulate the energy flow from the Mind Gem.

Under his guidance, power coursed through the body's veins, forming loops of psychic resonance and electromagnetic balance. Slowly, the circuits came alive, pulsing like a heartbeat.

For the first time, the gem's energy didn't resist him.

A golden light enveloped the lab, and Soren could feel his mental power magnified beyond imagination. His thoughts expanded outward, brushing the edges of countless minds across the city, distant, whispering consciousnesses, fleeting dreams, fears, and emotions. He pulled back before they overwhelmed him.

When the light dimmed, Soren stood silently. His projection within the body shimmered with faint radiance… a perfect fusion of spirit, science, and infinity.

He looked at his hand, the synthetic one and clenched it slowly.

"With this," He said softly, "I can strike with thought… and matter."

He raised his palm, releasing a focused burst of energy into the reinforced wall ahead. The air rippled, warping space for a split second before the metal dented inward with a resonant boom.

He had been studying this creation for hours… perhaps days, time had begun to lose meaning.

What he found within the intricate web of circuits left him… astonished.

"These patterns…" His fingers tracing the glowing filigree carved into the Vibranium surface. "They're not only conduits. They remember the flow of energy. They can store it… channel it… even shape it."

It was more than machine.

It was a vessel, a potential spell engine.

A faint spark of excitement crossed Soren's normally calm face. "Ultron, you reckless genius," He whispered with grudging admiration.

"You nearly created a body capable of wielding magic."

He extended his hand, and a weave of runic light bloomed in the air. Using his own mastery of arcane geometry, he began replicating the intricate circuits in the empty space before him, tracing them with pure magic.

Lines of azure and gold intertwined, forming the outline of a vast arcane mandala suspended in midair.

Slowly, under his will, the magical pattern transformed into something entirely new.

The Mind Gem floated to the center, bathing everything in golden brilliance.

Soren exhaled, steady but focused. "Finally."

The magic circle pulsed like a living thing, each rune whispering with mental resonance. The power radiating from it dwarfed Soren's own, pure psychic energy, far denser than anything his human mind could produce.

And yet, the circle was stable. It responded to him.

Still, he knew better than to push too far. His mastery of Time and Space was already precarious. To overlay another infinite power atop them risked unimaginable collapse.

"Not all forces were meant to coexist." He said quietly, half to himself. "One stone bends reality. Two warp causality. But three…"

He smiled faintly. "Three can destroy the mind that wields them."

Even so, curiosity gnawed at him. The circle before him was more than theory… it was the key to unlocking the Mind Gem's higher consciousness, to bridging thought and power.

And so, carefully, deliberately, Soren guided the golden circle forward.

The mandala began to shrink… until it was no larger than a child's fist. The glowing sphere drifted toward his face, hovering inches from his brow.

"This will either enlighten me." He murmured, "Or erase me."

Then, with a steady breath, he let it merge.

BOOM

A soundless explosion erupted inside his mind.

For a moment, the world vanished and replaced by an endless horizon of light and thought. He felt his consciousness expand outward, spiraling through countless streams of memory, dream, and emotion.

A thousand minds, a thousand voices whispered and collided within him.

The surge was unbearable.

His body trembled violently, his heart thundered as waves of raw psychic energy tore through his nervous system. The pressure was suffocating, too vast, and for an instant, Soren's awareness flickered.

Then, slowly… the chaos subsided.

The pain gave way to clarity.

He opened his eyes now faintly luminescent and felt something new.

The circle had fused completely, its runes now etched like faint gold veins at the center of his forehead. From it radiated a calm, steady pulse of psychic strength condensed, his.

Golden light enveloped his skin, tracing along his veins like living flame.

Soren raised a trembling hand, astonished at the sensation. The vast mental energy that had nearly overwhelmed him was now flowing gently, obediently, into his mind.

It was as if the Mind Gem itself had agreed to share a fraction of its will.

A quiet smile curved across his lips.

"So this is what it means to touch infinity."
