Nino Nakano crossed her arms and huffed. "Are we seriously going with this? Doesn't this feel suspicious? It's way too good to be true."
Being questioned about the contract didn't bother Jack in the slightest. He replied calmly,
"There's no reason for me to lie. Devils fulfill all kinds of human requests, and in return we collect compensation to strengthen ourselves. That's how we survive."
"I believe Mr. Jack is a good person!" Yotsuba Nakano nodded enthusiastically.
"Thanks," Jack said dryly. "But you can keep the 'good guy' card."

Jack chuckled inwardly. "Relax, I'm joking. Destruction isn't allowed. There are rules."

The ones who caused trouble were usually rogue devils or exiles, and once they stepped out of line, they'd be hunted down and erased.

Jack shrugged.
"Nothing special. I just barely pass every subject."
"Huh? Then you're not any better than us! And you're going to teach us?" Nino shot back.
Jack smiled faintly. "I said I barely pass, not that my level is only at passing. Do you really think getting a perfect score is hard for me?"
Everyone: "..."
His tone was casual, but the arrogance practically radiated off him.
"So… it was my fault after all…" Yotsuba's face fell. "I really just didn't understand the material…"
"Heh… or maybe the truth is that someone is teaching useless stuff?" Nino shot Jack a sly look.
Jack raised an eyebrow, completely unfazed.
"You, as the older sister, shouldn't say that about your younger sibling."
