Chapter 64 - "A New Summon"

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

As soon as school ended, Jack and the others gathered in the Occult Research Club room.

Rias stepped out of the shower, wrapped in a towel, her breathtaking beauty instantly drawing attention.

But the only person privileged enough to see her like this was Jack—the lone male in the club.

Rias glanced at him casually, clearly unfazed by how intoxicating her appearance was.

After all, she and Jack had already shared everything short of the final step—so what was there to be embarrassed about?

This, in fact, was a big reason why Jack was constantly envied by the boys in their class.

He had an unusually close relationship with Rias and the others, leaving the boys who admired these gorgeous girls seething with envy.

The Occult Research Club already had three stunning beauties—Rias, Akeno Himejima, and Koneko Toujou. When Asia transferred to Kuoh Academy, that made four.

And Jack? The only guy in a club full of four breathtaking girls. Naturally, it made everyone else feel deeply unbalanced.

To his classmates, Jack was just… slightly good-looking. So why was he the only one allowed into Rias's club?

Jack's day-to-day behavior was utterly normal. He interacted naturally with others, maintaining a balance—neither too distant nor too familiar.

Even if he had collaborated with someone on a task, afterward they barely remembered him—he left no lasting impression.

The only ones who truly understood him were Rias and the girls.

They knew Jack was naturally a bit reclusive. He didn't enjoy talking to people, yet somehow always acted completely normal.

A reclusive person who doesn't realize it is pitiable. A reclusive person who does? That's someone with incredible inner strength.

That's why Rias and the others admired him. One day, his hidden brilliance would shine so brightly in front of everyone that they'd see just how extraordinary he truly was.

Fortunately, Jack never hid his feelings from them. He spoke, laughed, and shared naturally—their bond had long been intimate.

Unlocking a young man's heart like that gave Rias and Akeno a real sense of accomplishment.

Clapping her hands lightly, Rias drew everyone's attention.

"Hey, did everyone get their contract requests today?"

Everyone raised their hand—except Jack.

"…You were too busy playing, weren't you?" he asked, summoning his familiar's seal.

The seal flapped its wings wildly, clearly offended. It had delivered the flyers properly.

Jack raised an eyebrow. "Delivered properly… but to whom?"

A long list of deliveries immediately flooded his mind, each showing who had received what.

Scanning through it, Jack's brow darkened.

"Why are they all girls?"

Rias and the others leaned closer, unable not to laugh. This little guy was incorrigible—he enjoyed exposing women and didn't spare men either.

"All right, all right. Sending them all to girls isn't a big deal. Are you discriminating against women?" Rias teased.

"…The desire of most female creatures can usually be satisfied through males. Males naturally compete to attract females—it's evolution," Jack explained calmly.

"So, most human women's desires can be fulfilled by men, commonly known as… 'simping.' I targeted the wrong group. No wonder I couldn't find anyone to summon."

Everyone went silent.

"Really… it's that complicated?"

"Look at your contract targets' genders," Jack continued. "Most of them are male."

A quick glance confirmed it—he was right.

Jack exhaled. "Women can rely on men. Men can only rely on themselves. If they don't improve, they lose their mating rights. That pressure drives them to seek us demons' help."

The girls were speechless.

"Seems a little off… but… somehow makes sense?" Nekone muttered, bewildered. "How does Jack know all this?"

Jack shrugged. "Who would cultivate such skills without necessity?"

Silence fell again.

Rias smiled. "Okay, enough philosophy. Those of us with contract requests have work to do—go fulfill those poor men's desires."

Jack tilted his head. "Sounds like you're describing… some kind of service industry. If they ask for anything excessive, we refuse and punish them—especially Asia. She's too innocent."

"No way," Rias laughed. "Sure, some humans request outrageous things, but low-tier demons handle that. We're from the Gimonry family—no way we touch those contracts."

Jack smiled faintly. He could already guess that. Rias's inexperience in bed gave it away.

Everyone left, even Rias, leaving Jack alone on the sofa with a book.

Not great. He had just visited Mai yesterday to absorb contract rewards. While he wanted to see her, he couldn't pester her every day—she had work.

Damn… even my girlfriend's busy… and I have nothing?

He frowned, thinking, Do I even need to go hand out flyers now?

Too low-level…

Just as he was sighing, a faint glow surrounded him.

This… was a contract summon?

"Hmm?"

Sure enough, magic confirmed a new summoning. Not from Sakurajima Mai—someone else.

Glancing at the familiar, Jack smirked. That little guy always chose beautiful girls for flyers. Whoever this is, they probably have plenty of suitors chasing their wishes.

Luck's on my side. Could be a lucky accident…

No matter. Opportunities like this don't come twice.

Jack smiled, standing.

Yes… I love work.

"..."
