Under the scorching sun, the Marine unit escorting Marco moved slowly through the streets of Grove 13.
Just as the group was preparing to enter the supply point—
"ENEMY ATTACK!!!"
Ace and Luffy turned their heads almost simultaneously, red light flashing in their eyes as their Observation Haki captured the aura of danger in an instant!
Usopp was half a beat slower but reacted immediately, screaming, "Sanji! Protect the prisoner cart and Nami!!!"
"SWISH!"
Accompanied by a piercing whistle tearing through the air, a fierce slash of sword energy chopped down rapidly from high above!
Ace's flames exploded as he punched out violently: "FIRE FIST!!!"
"BOOM!!!"
Fire and sword energy collided violently in mid-air. A wave of scorching heat instantly swallowed the street, and smoke from the explosion billowed up!
"THUD! THUD! THUD!"
Amidst the smoke, a massive diamond figure tore through the dust, crashing out like a war chariot!
"DIAMOND: CHARIOT IMPACT!"
Jozu, covered entirely in thick diamond armor, charged straight for the prisoner cart with the momentum of a landslide!
Luffy grinned. His pupils transformed into vertical slits, pink dragon flames wrapping around his body. Dragon scales covered his arms as his muscles tensed—
"BANG—!!!"
He met Jozu's diamond charge head-on with both fists. The stone pavement beneath his feet instantly shattered into a dozen cracks!
"Been waiting for you guys!!!" Luffy laughed widely, his fist force emitting an ear-piercing roar against the diamond armor.
Jozu's eyes widened in rage, his voice booming like a giant bell. "So it was a trap?!"
On the other side, as the dust churned, "Flower Sword" Vista, dual swords in hand, sliced through the air like a phantom, heading straight for the prisoner cart!
"Jozu! Ignore them, saving him is the priority!"
Ace projected flames in front of Vista, his arms unleashing a tidal wave of fire:
"FLAME FENCE!!!"
Flames rose into a towering wall, cutting off Vista's path.
"Fire Fist Ace..." Vista whispered coldly. Crossing his swords, his aura became frosty. "Move."
Ace's gaze was resolute, flames soaring into the sky. "I'm a Marine now. I don't take orders from pirates."
Vista roared, his blades flashing brightly. "FLOWER SWORD: TWIN SWALLOW SLASH!!!"
Two intersecting beams of sword light slashed through the air. Ace's rage-filled flames roared to meet them. The explosion forced both of them back several steps!
Beside the prisoner cart, Usopp mounted his special sniper rifle and pulled the trigger repeatedly, firing several shots at Jozu!
"PING! PING! PING!"
The bullets all ricocheted off the diamond shell, sparks flying, leaving not a scratch.
"You gotta be kidding me! Can't pierce him at all?!!" Usopp broke out in a cold sweat.
Just then, a green ripple bulged on the ground!
"SWISH—!!!"
A weird, caterpillar-like figure wiggled forward at alarming speed, lunging straight for the chassis of the prisoner cart!
Sanji's eyes turned cold. His right leg was instantly engulfed in flames, erupting with intense heat!
"DIABLE JAMBE: FRIT ASSORTI (Mixed Fry)!!!" (Learned early thanks to Zephyr's training and Roy's hints)
"BANG—!!!"
The green figure was kicked flying, smashing ruthlessly into a nearby wall, sending rubble flying.
The figure twisted and transformed, finally revealing a human form—a fat man wearing a green striped outfit resembling a caterpillar, eyes covered by bangs.
It was Epoida (User of the Bug-Bug Fruit, Model: Caterpillar)!
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and sneered. "Marine brat... to be able to see through my surprise attack, you have some skill."
Sanji, cigarette in mouth, walked over slowly, flames dancing on his leg. "Want to touch the prisoner cart? Ask my foot if it agrees first."
Beside the cart, Nami gripped her Clima-Tact tightly, standing sideways in a guarded stance, her gaze scanning the surroundings like a hawk.
Suddenly, she looked up sharply toward a distant rooftop!
Under the sunlight, a slender figure stood high above. Chill permeated from her fingertips like a physical substance, frost quietly condensing on the roof.
—"Ice Witch" Whitey Bay.
Her eyes were cold, her sword flashing with bone-chilling frost. She whispered murderous intent as cold as an ice blade:
"None of you... are leaving here."
"SWISH!"
Whitey Bay swooped down like a ghost, her long sword carrying a cyclone of frost aimed straight at Nami!
Before the blade even arrived, the biting cold hit Nami's face, and a thin layer of ice instantly formed on the ground!
Usopp turned around hastily, his sniper rifle firing a shot with a BANG!
However, Whitey Bay simply twirled, dodging gracefully, her cold blade still thrusting toward Nami!
"Crap! NAMI!!!" Usopp screamed.
"CLANG!!!"
The crisp sound of metal colliding rang out abruptly!
The Clima-Tact in Nami's hand suddenly extended, turning into a tough long staff that precisely blocked Whitey Bay's blade!
Nami revealed a cold smile. "I'm not just a pretty face!"
Whitey Bay's pupils contracted slightly, shocked. "What?!"
The next second, Nami shouted:
"SWIFT: SOARING STRIKE!!!"
"BUZZ—!!!"
The metal surface of the Clima-Tact suddenly distorted, reassembling like a living creature, and actually transformed into a giant Swift (bird) with shining metallic feathers!
Its wingspan was two meters wide, emitting faint electric arcs and a cold glint!
(This was something Roy specifically asked Vegapunk to do: infuse the Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Swift into the Clima-Tact, granting Nami independent self-defense capabilities.)
"What is this?!" Whitey Bay turned pale with shock and hurriedly retreated, but the Swift lunged like lightning!
"SLASH-SLASH-SLASH—!!!"
The Swift's wings were like two sharp scythes. The gale tore through the air, forcing Whitey Bay back with every swoop!
"CLING-CLING-CLING!!!"
Whitey Bay swung her sword to block repeatedly, ice crystals condensing madly on her blade, attempting to freeze the bird. "Ice Swallow Slash!"
"CRACK—!"
Frost quickly covered the Swift's left wing, stalling its movement instantly!
Whitey Bay revealed a cold sneer. "It's over—"
However, Nami had already anticipated this. With a flick of her wrist, the tail of the Clima-Tact sizzled, and three high-pressure electric bubbles shot out in succession!
"THUNDER CLOUD: SWALLOW'S NEST!!!"
"ZAP!"
The electric bubbles landed precisely at Whitey Bay's feet. Powerful lightning exploded, carrying a paralyzing shock straight to her legs!
"SWISH!!!"
The Swift took advantage of the momentum to dive, its sharp beak pecking straight at Whitey Bay's throat like a lightning bolt!
"BOOM!!!"
Whitey Bay was forced back again and again, stabbing her sword into the ground to steady herself. Her chest heaved violently, her eyes full of shock:
"This brat... has this kind of combat power?!!"
Usopp stood dumbfounded to the side, his sniper rifle nearly dropping to the ground. "N-Nami... is actually this strong?!"
Sanji kicked Epoida flying, stealing a glance back. His eyes immediately turned into hearts, emotions boiling over. "Nami-swaaaaan~ is simply too cool!!!"
Epoida tried to counterattack in the confusion, but was kicked away by Sanji with an angry shout of "Mouton Shot," flying out like his bones were broken and smashing through a stone wall:
"Don't interrupt my appreciation of Nami-san's battle, you bastard!"
Nami controlled the Swift with one hand, making it trace tricky arcs in the air, while her other hand quietly reached for a Weather Egg at her waist.
"Hah!" She threw the Weather Egg violently, smashing it right above Whitey Bay's head!
"THUNDER CLOUD: TEMPEST!!!"
"RUMBLE-RUMBLE—!!!"
In an instant, dark clouds gathered, lightning went berserk, and a torrential waterfall of thunder poured down from the sky!
Whitey Bay looked up, her face changing drastically. "This is bad—!"
