Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

The next morning, Samantha was awakened by the ringtone from her phone. Still feeling dizzy, she forced herself to open her eyes while her hand roamed around to search for the source of the noise. The sound just made her head throb further.

The moment she reached her phone from the bedside table, she slowly sat up, leaning her back on the headrest of the bed.

"Damn! I drank too much last time. The hangover is killing me," she groaned in discomfort, rubbing her temples.

She was about to answer the phone when suddenly a realization struck her. Snapping her eyes wide, she looked around only to see an unfamiliar room.

"Where am I? A hotel?" she asked herself, gasping in panic.

Reflexively, she gazed down and lifted the blanket, checking her body.

"Oh my God!" she blurted out, seeing her almost naked body. She was only wearing her pair of underwear.

A series of scenes came flashing through her mind.

"I think I fucked up!" she uttered in disbelief.

She vaguely remembered making a scene in the bar, venting her frustration out to Jayden. Then she just found herself being kissed by him right after. Then the rest became hazy because of her drunkenness.

"Did I really… s-sleep with my brother-in-law last night–"

Her face turned red almost instantly at the thought!

"Damn!!!" She screamed while covering her face using a pillow. "I messed up big time!"

Her mind refused to accept it! No! This couldn't be. Although she caught Daniel cheating on her, now that she was sober, she couldn't possibly do the same thing as sleeping with her brother-in-law. For goodness' sake, she was still a married woman! This was so morally wrong!

Bothered by her own wild thoughts, she hit her head using her knuckle, only for her to wince in pain.

"Ouch!"

Her eyes fell on the silver diamond ring on her finger. The wedding ring reminded her of her husband, Daniel.

The pain of his betrayal came flooding her like a flashback, tears welling up in her eyes. She was furious, but at the same time asked herself when everything started to change.

In the first year of their marriage, Daniel pampered her a lot. He never argued with her. He always showed her how much he loved her, spoiling her like a princess.

But when Amalia returned to Daniel's life, her husband began to change. She wasn't dumb not to notice it. However, she just chose to turn a blind eye, thinking everything would be back to normal as long as she endured it.

'I trust him because I love him. But in the end, he still betrays me.' Samantha clenched her fists, holding back her tears.

She was still in the middle of self-reflection when her ringtone interrupted her. She almost forgot that someone had been calling her early this morning. She looked at her phone only to see her husband's Caller ID.

A cold glint flashed in her eyes as she pressed the answer button.

"Honey, where are you? I'm so sorry about last night. Something came up with the company. I couldn't leave the company to fix some issues with an investor," Daniel's apologetic voice echoed from the other line.

'The same old excuses,' Samantha thought, slamming her eyes shut as she took a deep breath.

"I sent Annie last night to meet you at the restaurant. Did you receive the flowers and my gifts? Happy Wedding Anniversary, Honey!" Daniel thought he could appease her by sending flowers and gifts.

Her grip on her phone tightened as her lips curled up into a dangerous smile. Samantha already had enough of his lies.

"Daniel, I'm giving you one last chance. Be honest with me! Did you meet Amalia lastnight?" Samantha had already lost her patience, so she confronted him again.

"Samantha!" Daniel's tone also changed. He sounded annoyed. "I've already told you, I had an important matter to fix with the investor! Amalia had nothing to do with that. Why are you bringing her up again?"

Samantha wanted to puke blood. Hearing more lies from Daniel, her stomach churned. Without saying another word, she hung up the phone.

That was the time Jayden came out of the bathroom.

"Arguing with your scum husband as early as this morning."

Samantha turned to look at him. She gasped the moment she saw Jayden half-naked before her. His lower body was only wrapped in a towel. His broad shoulders, chiseled chest, and six-packed abs were exposed to her.

'Damn! Why is he flaunting his well-toned body?!'

Samantha immediately looked away, swallowing hard. A blush started to creep over her cheeks, and it didn't escape Jayden's sharp eyes.

Determined to tease her further, Jayden strode toward the bed, facing her.

"Can you please put on some clothes first?" Samantha said, tugging the blanket to hide her own body. Her gaze remained fixed somewhere else, avoiding Jayden's body.

Jayden chuckled huskily and said, "Why are you getting shy now, Sam?"

Samantha's ears turned red when she heard him calling her name affectionately.

'Where did the indifferent Jayden go? He seems like a different person now.'

"You saw all of this last night. You even marked my body with so many love bites. I didn't know that my sister-in-law is so aggressive in bed."

He was deliberately teasing her.

"No! You're lying! I can't remember!" she spat back. "I'm too drunk to remember," she added, denying his accusation.

"Hmm… so you don't remember, huh?" Jayden arched his eyebrow, staring at her dangerously. The playful smile on his face had already disappeared.

"If that is the case, then let me remind you of what happened. Shall we do a replay, Sis-in-law?"

Before Samantha could respond, Jayden pounced on her, pinning her on the bed. Catching her wrists, he pressed them over her head while his legs straddled her waist, completely immobilizing her.

"Jayden! What are you doing? Stop!" she exclaimed, struggling to free herself from his grasp.

"Hmm. I really need to refresh your memory, Sis. Last night, you were the one begging me not to stop," he whispered, his lips gently nibbling on her earlobe.

"I w-was d-drunk," she retorted, her lips trembling in nervousness.

Jayden ignored her excuses as he tried to test the water first. His free hand started caressing her neck, then trailed slowly down her shoulder.

The touch of his bare hand sent a jolt through her body, and goosebumps rose along her skin, every hair standing on end.

"J-Jayden! Stop it!" She uttered under a hitched breath.

Jayden continued teasing her, but avoided touching the sensitive parts of her body. He knew his boundary. He just wanted to see her flustered face. She looked so pretty while blushing in embarrassment.

"Can't you still remember anything?" he murmured, bringing his lips closer to her face.

"I do remember! So stop now!" she was forced to say it even though she didn't remember anything.

She was really clueless that Jayden was just making fun of her, as he liked teasing her.

It did not take long before he finally let go of her. Then he put on a satisfied smirk and whispered, "Good. So you do remember telling me you are going to marry me after you divorce my brother."

"Huh…W-What? Did I say that?" Samantha's eyes widened in shock when she heard his last remark.

He hummed and nodded.

"Hmm. Yes, you did. You can't take back your words, Sam," Jayden cooed in her ear before giving her a peck on her forehead.

Samantha could only blink her eyes in disbelief as Jayden got off the bed. 'Damn it! What had I gotten myself into?'

She started to regret getting drunk. 'I won't drink alcohol ever again!'

Little did she know, nothing really happened between them. Jayden just deliberately gave her the wrong assumption that they slept together last night. It was a secret he wanted to keep from her for now.
