Chapter 546 - Chapter 546: The Fool and the Unlucky One

Compared with the vague and elusive existence of Death, such blatant hostility actually made Tver breathe a sigh of relief.

He had, in fact, studied the subject of death before. In his previous understanding, Death was more like one of the rules of this world.

And since his crossing over had itself violated the rules of the world, it was not hard to understand why those rules would target him.

But the concept of rules was far too abstract for Tver. He could hardly poke a hole through the world itself just to fight against the rules, could he?

So this hostility was like a stealth aircraft suddenly revealing a tiny opening that was not quite a flaw, allowing Tver, this extraordinarily sensitive radar, to lock on to a target he could actually strike.

Once he had a target, Tver had nothing to worry about.

Even if he still had not figured out exactly what Death was, it was still far better than his previous situation, where he could only take blows without fighting back.

Still, for the current Tver, that veil was far too dangerous. He would have to wait until he had squeezed enough out of Dumbledore, his teacher, and the badge, then bring along a group of helpers before coming back for a one-on-one duel.

"All right, I've got a grasp of the situation here. Let's go. It's time to carry out the last task before bed. Targeting Voldemort!"

Cynthia had not yet recovered from Tver's strange smile when he pulled her out of the Hall of Death.

Tver passed through the doors with familiarity, completely unaffected by the Department of Mysteries' unnecessary defensive measures, and returned to the brightly lit atrium of the Ministry of Magic.

But at that moment, even though evening had already passed, a team of Aurors who had volunteered to work overtime were still waiting for his orders.

Seeing the two of them appear, Dawlish, who had been standing to the side watching his subordinates whisper among themselves, hurried over.

"Mr. Fawley, according to your request, all Aurors in the Auror Office who are not currently on missions are ready."

Tver nodded, but instead focused on Dawlish's face for a while. He was somewhat unable to figure out what state Dawlish was in right now.

If Dawlish had been controlled by Marvolio's Imperius Curse, then the liveliness and sharpness he showed did not match the usual signs of someone under the curse.

But he was indeed obediently following Marvolio's instructions, completing all sorts of tasks assigned to him very well, and acting as Tver's hand in controlling the Auror Office.

"Is something wrong?" Dawlish asked curiously, touching his face. He thought there might be something on his face that had drawn Mr. Fawley's attention.

"Nothing." Tver shook his head and turned to the expectant Aurors.

"Everyone, I imagine you already know a little about tonight's mission..."

"Arrest Death Eaters!" a girl with lovely violet hair answered cheerfully. If Kingsley had not pulled her back, she might have gone even further.

Tver was not annoyed. Instead, he followed her lead and said, "Tonks is right, but only half right. This time, we are going to arrest Death Eaters, and then let them be rescued!"

"What?"

Not only Tonks, but all the Aurors present cried out in surprise.

"You heard me correctly." Tver knew these Aurors would not agree with the idea so easily, so he had to persuade them while protecting Marvolio's identity.

"According to reliable intelligence, a genius Dark Wizard from Greece has slipped into Britain. He seems to have a favorable impression of the Death Eaters and intends to contact the hidden Death Eater headquarters by rescuing several captured Death Eaters."

"And after studying the matter, we believe that even if we arrest these Death Eaters, we still won't truly destroy Voldemort's foundation. He can still gather another large force of Death Eaters, perhaps even stronger ones."

"So we've decided to arrange for several undercover agents to return to the Death Eaters through the same method of a prison break, providing us with intelligence."

"Until we have enough strength to defeat Voldemort."

The moment he finished speaking, Tonks could not wait to throw out her question, but this time Kingsley held her back.

As an experienced Auror, he quickly understood Tver's plan.

Simply arresting Death Eaters only treated the symptoms, not the root. Without Tver and Marvolio present, they might not even be able to guard against You-Know-Who breaking into prison again.

On the contrary, if undercover agents could provide intelligence on the Death Eaters, and even on You-Know-Who himself, the safety of their operations would greatly increase. It would also help them carry out the final plan to defeat Voldemort.

So letting the Death Eaters go could actually bring greater benefits.

After Kingsley explained quietly, Tonks and the other Aurors also understood Tver's plan.

Seeing this, Tver nodded in satisfaction.

If Kingsley were not a die-hard loyalist of Dumbledore, he would have been their recruitment target from the very beginning.

"So, the main purpose of this mission is to help our undercover agents infiltrate the Death Eaters. You do not need to, and must not, take overly aggressive measures against resisting Death Eaters. Protecting your own safety comes first."

Although it was somewhat improper for Tver to be giving orders, most people in the Auror Office knew how powerful he was. He was the greatest guarantee of safety for this operation.

Naturally, no one had any objections.

...

Meanwhile, on the other side, Marvolio looked at the motley group inside the prison and found himself troubled.

Tver had said it would be best to rescue a few Death Eaters who looked rather stupid. That way, even if Voldemort discovered the undercover agents, he could waste some time torturing those fools.

But the problem was, all these Death Eaters were stupid.

"Hey, you hooded Auror. Why are you the only one here? Aren't you afraid we'll break out?"

Amycus Carrow sat on the filthy floor. Even as a prisoner, he still maintained a condescending tone.

This new prison had only been temporarily converted from a basement. Not only had no solid protective magic been laid down yet, but the facilities inside consisted only of rows of stone beds and a crude toilet.

Of course, that was still not something these wandless Death Eaters could break out of.

"How are you so sure I'm an Auror?" Marvolio asked curiously.

"Obviously!" Amycus rolled his eyes in irritation. "The ones inside the prison are prisoners, so the one outside the prison is naturally an Auror!"

"..."

Marvolio had never imagined that one day he would be looked down upon by a Death Eater.

He narrowed his eyes slightly and studied Amycus for a while, quickly making up his mind.

"Very well. The organization has decided. You will be the fool and the unlucky one."
