Chapter 145 - Chapter 145: Departure, A New World

Kira Yoshikage stood before the refrigerator, gazing at Hayato's body, carefully preserved within. It was a collection of body parts he had cut and stored, resting quietly in the fridge, very obediently, which brought Kira Yoshikage a rare moment of relief.

"Hmm, this time you're very quiet, not causing me any other trouble, Hayato. You've finally learned to be a good child. Well, never mind, I'll make you a completely good child right now."

The silence of the night enveloped the house, broken only by the low hum of the refrigerator's compressor. Electricity had long since been restored, and although countless people had been burned to ashes in the great fire, many still remained, and society had begun to recover.

Of the world's over 7 billion people, the fire had likely killed around 2 billion, and over 3 billion more were nearly crippled. The remaining people were also more or less burned, but these remaining over 5 billion people still had the capacity to work.

These statistics were self-reported by the great fire, which told people it had come to eliminate evil, much like the great judgment of Judgment Day, eradicating all evil, and informing them how many it had purified.

Recently, Higashikata Josuke did not want the entire world to completely collapse into chaos, but most of the leadership teams of countries around the world had been burned away by him... Only a few masters like the President could escape the fire.

Therefore, Higashikata Josuke comforted the survivors with words, making the remaining people, despite their fear, not cause greater chaos, because everyone was afraid of being burned again and dying on the spot... To be honest, most of the remaining people had not done anything terribly evil; perhaps they had the bad intentions, but not the bad courage.

It was just a pity that the organizational capacity of various countries had completely collapsed, and they found it difficult to deal with various natural and man-made disasters, whether fires, earthquakes, or floods.

However, life would adapt eventually, and new governments would eventually be re-established, just like the re-established power grid companies.

Thinking about the various pieces of information he had seen in the news today, Kira Yoshikage extended his right hand, his fingertips sharpened, and lightly cut his left wrist.

His mood was not bad; the new society built by good survivors would probably be even better, and he would also live better, and hunting would be more enjoyable. Thinking of this, the blood flowed even faster from his wrist.

Dark red blood, containing Vampire activity, dripped onto Hayato's cold, pale skin. The stone pieces had been arranged neatly, and the blood threaded through them like needle and thread.

The blood did not flow everywhere but, as if possessing life, actively permeated Hayato's body, and the incisions were gradually put back together and healed.

Beyond that, there was no change at first, but a few seconds later, Hayato's chest imperceptibly rose and fell, flesh began to regrow, and dead life was being resurrected.

Immediately after, the blue veins beneath his skin began to refill, his cold body rapidly warmed, his chest began to rise and fall rhythmically, his heart began to regain activity, and those cold muscles began to constantly beat.

His fatal injuries were rapidly healed by the power of Vampire blood. Unlike Dio's assimilation of Great Jo's body, this was his own body, and with Vampire blood, it could recover quickly.

Hayato gasped and opened his eyes. His gaze was initially bewildered and frightened, but upon seeing Kira Yoshikage, he instinctively cried out, "...Father?"

He thought he had seen his real father's soul after death, but he quickly realized something was wrong; this reaction was completely different from his real father's.

Kira Yoshikage's face showed his usual gentle and reassuring smile, a very, very fake and standardized smile.

"Hayato, you had a very long nightmare. Everything's fine now."

He reached out and gently stroked Hayato's hair, gliding over his cheek, his movements soft, like a truly caring father.

"Remember, you just fell ill and fainted, and now you've just recovered. You don't remember anything else, understand? Shh, don't talk nonsense to your mother, okay? Be a good child."

His voice carried an undeniable power, calm and coldly terrifying to Hayato. He understood something and obediently nodded, "Mm... I... I don't remember..."

"Good child."

Kira Yoshikage smiled contentedly, picked him up from the refrigerator, helped him change into clean pajamas, and put him back in his own bed.

"Go back to sleep. Everything will be fine tomorrow."

After dealing with Hayato, Kira Yoshikage walked to the master bedroom.

Looking at Shinobu Kawajiri (just a bone) sleeping on the bed, his emotions were complicated and hard to describe. Thinking about how he had blown her to ashes some time ago made his heart even more complex.

Desire, guilt, and a nearly obsessive possessiveness intertwined as he repeated the same process, feeding his blood to Shinobu's (bone).

Shinobu's awakening was slower than Hayato's. Layers of flesh regrew on her finger bones, forming a complete finger, then the finger extended backward, gradually becoming a hand, and then reconstructing an arm, and finally... the fingertip grew backward into a person, a beautiful naked woman, sleeping deeply. Her long eyelashes fluttered a few times before she slowly opened her eyes.

At first glance, seeing her "husband" standing by the bed, she smiled weakly, her eyes filled only with confusion, her memory still lingering on the moment of their embrace.

"Kosaku... I... I seem to have slept for a long time?"

"Yes, you were exhausted."

Kira Yoshikage sat by the bed, holding her hand, gently cupping her small, tender hand, his voice so soft it could drip water. "The doctor said you needed a good rest. How do you feel now?"

"A little hungry... but I'm fine..."

Shinobu tried to sit up, and Kira Yoshikage quickly supported her. The resurrected Shinobu, though still a bit pale, still possessed the captivating beauty of vibrant life.

Kira Yoshikage gazed at her, his twisted desire for a "peaceful life" and an "ideal partner" greatly satisfied.

That night, Kira Yoshikage accompanied Shinobu with utmost tenderness, weaving plausible lies to explain her prolonged "coma," directly blaming everything on the American military, claiming she was injured and fell unconscious due to a terrorist attack by the American military.

As for her awakening, he attributed it to the global fire, saying that due to her kindness, her vitality was replenished.

Then they shared a dinner he had prepared himself, slightly clumsy but full of "heartfelt" intention. He even patiently listened to Shinobu's various worries, as if they were truly an ordinary couple reunited after enduring hardships.

Watching the smile bloom anew on Shinobu's face, Kira Yoshikage almost succumbed to this false tranquility, but the cold touch of the insect arrow in his chest and the surging Vampire power within him constantly reminded him of the harsh reality.

Now neither of them could walk in the sunlight... Late at night, when Shinobu had fallen into a deep sleep due to her body not yet fully recovered, Kira Yoshikage gently withdrew the arm she had been using as a pillow.

He leaned down and kissed Shinobu's forehead lightly, whispering, like a mixture of the most malicious curse and the most profound confession, his eyes filled with deep affection, meeting Shinobu's rippling, spring-like eyes.

"Shinobu, sleep well. I need to leave for a while to deal with some... work troubles. I will return, I promise. Then, nothing will ever disturb our peaceful life again."

He stood up, his eyes once again cold and resolute. With a lingering last look at this "home" he had built and was about to leave with his own hands, Kira Yoshikage silently departed.

He flew out of his home to a cave outside of town, where the bound President Funny Valentine awoke again, only to see Kira Yoshikage's indifferent face.

"You... what exactly do you want?" The President's voice was hoarse with despair.

"To borrow your ability."

Kira Yoshikage was concise. He recalled what the insect arrow had said, and the inherent power within him, originating from his transmigration, which was now usable.

He placed his hand on the President's forehead, activating the power of his own soul hidden deep within him, extending it directly outward through the President's body.

"Ugh, ahhh—!" The President let out a bloodcurdling scream. His body began to distort, the surrounding space rippled like water, and desks, documents, and even light began to double.

Kira Yoshikage could feel a "door" being forcibly pried open...
