The Grand Arena of the Elusia Academy was a coliseum of white marble and gold-leafed banners, capable of seating fifty thousand spectators. Today, every seat was filled.
The roar of the crowd was a physical weight against my chest as I stood in the entrance tunnel with the Moon Faction. To my left, Prince Stefan was adjusting his gloves, his face pale with tension. To my right, Ivan stood like a statue, his presence suppressed to a terrifying zero.
"Welcome, students, nobles, and honored guests!" Headmaster Eldric's voice boomed, amplified by wind magic to reach every corner of the stadium.
He stood on the floating VIP platform in the center of the arena. Beside him were the Emperor (who looked bored) and the Empress (who looked anxious).
"Today marks the beginning of the Azure Tournament," Eldric announced. "But before we spill blood—figuratively speaking—we have a special announcement."
The crowd quieted down.
