It was almost time for the first class of the afternoon when Lin Mu finally released Yukino Yukinoshita's waist.
"Alright, class is about to start. I, the Demon Lord, will let you off for now, Little Yukino. You're welcome to provoke me again next time, you know."
With that, Lin Mu kissed her cheek, stood up, straightened his school uniform, and then left the rooftop.
Yukino Yukinoshita watched him, gritting her teeth, but didn't say anything further.
Her face burning, she nervously adjusted her school uniform skirt and the messed-up bow at her chest.
"Pervert... Scumbag, shameless! All he knows is how to bully people, a good-for-nothing Demon!"
After muttering a few curses, Yukino Yukinoshita suppressed the strange thrill in her heart, looked around, and quickly left the rooftop as well.
After both of them left, a cool and beautiful girl with a high ponytail and a charming tear mole on her cheek emerged from the corner.
Rubbing her calf, which had gone a little numb from squatting, Kawasaki Saki couldn't help but curse under her breath.
"Who are those people, always coming to the rooftop to make out?"
"And who's so bored they specifically put a long bench here?"
Kawasaki Saki had already been eating lunch there when Lin Mu came up. Her lunch was simple: a few rice balls she'd made that morning, paired with a small box of sauce she'd brought.
Though small in quantity, it was a delicious meal.
What she hadn't expected was that just as she was about to leave, that familiar man came up again.
Kawasaki Saki didn't want to leave today, nor did she want to be disturbed, so she sat in the corner, planning to take a short nap.
However, at that moment, a beautiful girl, none other than the school's celebrity, Miss Yuki no Shita, walked over.
To avoid trouble, Kawasaki Saki could only try to squat further into the corner, waiting for the two of them to leave before she came out.
As it turned out, the two of them, who seemed to have a not-so-good relationship on the surface, with Miss Yuki no Shita actually sitting obediently on the man's lap.
Then she witnessed the intimate scene.
Kawasaki Saki felt she really shouldn't have come to the rooftop today. She was still a pure girl and had never dated a boy.
Why did she have to see such a stimulating scene?
Lin Mu was very handsome, much more pleasing to the eye than the famous fake-smiling Hayama, and Yukino Yukinoshita was fair-skinned and beautiful, like a noble young lady.
The combination of a handsome man and a beautiful woman looked like a first-rate blockbuster.
Kawasaki Saki's breathing quickened, and her cheeks involuntarily flushed crimson.
Then Kawasaki Saki's ordeal began.
The two of them seemed to be making out endlessly.
One moment they were hugging, the next they were kissing.
To avoid being discovered and getting into trouble, Kawasaki Saki could only try to squat further into the corner.
After returning to the classroom, Kawasaki Saki had no intention of talking to anyone, nor did she plan to tell anyone what she saw.
She was currently struggling with how to ease her family's burden while earning her tuition fees.
The tuition at St. White Emperor Academy was not cheap, and she had worked hard to get in because she wanted a good education.
However, she hadn't expected her choice to add insult to injury to her already struggling family.
Her mother had gone out to work with her father, returning only once a year.
With a younger brother and sister at home, Kawasaki Saki, as the eldest daughter, was under immense pressure.
Therefore, she didn't want to cause trouble now, so she naturally wouldn't mention Lin Mu's affairs.
As for Lin Mu, did he really not notice Kawasaki Saki's presence?
No, he knew she was there, which is why he found it exciting.
This would also give Kawasaki Saki a small shock, leaving a deep impression on her.
Whether it was a good impression or a bad impression, for him, a Demon, it was not a loss.
Only with a deep impression could a bond be formed.
And forming a bond meant slowly getting closer, then signing a contract, and gaining a new Vassal.
It's worth mentioning that at noon, Vignette and Gabriel both ate their bentos with their newly made friends, Shiina Mahiru and Yumiko.
Whispering girl-talk while enjoying their bentos—this was youth.
However, the foolish Demon Miss, Satania, who was so arrogant on her first day of school, ate her lunch alone in a deserted place.
Although she was thick-skinned, she noticed that after a whole morning, no one had spoken to her; she was being isolated!
But Demon Lord Satania is a Great Demon in the making! She won't be defeated by such trivial matters!
Eating alone, even without friends, can still be delicious... I'm not envious, not at all envious... Boo hoo hoo...!
In the end, Satania, despite her bravado, hid in a deserted corner, crying as she ate her solo bento.
And after returning to the classroom, she still pretended to be full of energy, head held high and looking smug, as if she had just left the classroom to eat bento with friends.
The first class in the afternoon was English. Gabriel and Vignette both looked relaxed, indicating that schools in Heaven and the Demon World also taught various languages.
The English class was very free. The bald teacher from abroad taught some basic grammar, then had the students push their desks together to form several small groups.
They had to communicate entirely in English.
Lin Mu was quite helpless. He hadn't expected to continue learning English even after transmigrating. Why wasn't Chinese the universal language?
Hmph, once his Mu Empire was established, he would make Chinese the mandatory universal language!
Although he was a bit speechless about having to continue learning, it didn't stop Lin Mu from communicating in English with Kato Megumi and his new friend, the True Angel Gabriel.
Occasionally, he would even actively pull the two girls into discussing grammar, and eventually, Vignette joined in. This Demon girl was very eager to learn, and seeing the good study atmosphere, she came over.
She had originally formed a group with Hachiman Hikigaya and others, but Hachiman Hikigaya was a reticent person, and Totsuka Saika was effeminate, blushing shyly despite being a boy.
The other girls were chatting amongst themselves and weren't studying at all.
So Vignette switched groups.
Lin Mu also smoothly (bdab) became friends with Vignette.
After class, Lin Mu generously pulled out some cash, intending to treat his friends to snacks.
Then he handed the cash to Gabriel.
"Gabriel, could you please help me run to the convenience store? I'm a bit tied up right now."
"Of course!" Gabriel readily agreed.
Vignette, however, frowned and couldn't help but say, "I'll go with you to help."
The two girls walked out of the classroom together.
Kato Megumi looked at Lin Mu with a strange expression, as if she was seeing him in a new light again.
"Uh, Kato-san, why are you looking at me like that? Have I become even more handsome?"
Even the usually calm Kato Megumi was surprised by his narcissistic remark, her eyes widening.
She sighed helplessly and couldn't help but retort, "I just think you seem to be picking on Gabriel. You could clearly go buy snacks yourself, so why make an excuse to send Gabriel to run errands?"
"This is bullying, bullying. Look, all the boys around are looking at you with disdain."
Lin Mu turned his head and saw that it was true.
Both the male and female students were looking at him resentfully, clearly displeased with his bullying of Gabriel.
Even Shiina Mahiru looked at him reproachfully, implying that he shouldn't bully the new, cute female student.
Lin Mu, however, felt no guilt about this.
"I just wanted to see if Gabriel would refuse me. Do you remember her self-introduction?"
Lin Mu asked Kato Megumi.
Kato Megumi's memory was quite good, and she immediately replied, "Yes, she said something about making everyone happy, a very noble dream, almost like a selflessly devoted Angel."
"Yes, it is indeed very noble, but it's hard to do, isn't it? How should a person's happiness be defined? It should be according to their own thoughts, so it's hard for us to make everyone happy."
"And the definition of happiness can change at certain times. Gabriel, who doesn't know how to refuse, will be very tired in the future."
"So I want to try and help her, to teach her how to refuse others."
Upon hearing this, Kato Megumi nodded, indicating she understood.
"But what does that have to do with you sending her on an errand? Lin Mu, bullying girls is a terrible thing, you know."
Kato Megumi couldn't help but remind him.
Lin Mu rolled his eyes. So he had said all that for nothing? The matter of bullying Gabriel wasn't going to pass, was it?
But it wasn't a big problem.
After thinking for a moment, he continued, "I'm just a little worried that if Gabriel continues to readily agree to everyone's requests, she'll become exhausted in the future."
"Therefore, I'll ask her for help first, so she's busy for me, and then she won't have to deal with other people's requests. Things have a first-come, first-served order, after all."
"Furthermore, I don't think Gabriel understands how to make everyone happy yet."
"To achieve that great dream, I think she first needs to become happy herself.
By experiencing happiness herself, she can empathize and better realize her dream, instead of treating everyone's requests equally, accepting them, and then blindly helping others."
"Humans are very complex animals. Sometimes, simply helping others can lead to unintended negative consequences. To truly understand human happiness, there's still a lot we need to learn."
After he finished speaking, Kato Megumi nodded, half-understanding.
Meanwhile, Vignette and Gabriel, who had just left the classroom and were not far away, subconsciously stopped, showing expressions of sudden realization.
"Vignette, humans are indeed very complex. It seems I, an Angel, still have a lot to learn."
"The same goes for me, a Demon. I thought he wanted to bully you by making you run errands, but I didn't expect him to actually want to teach you, Gabriel, how to refuse others."
Gabriel smiled gently, made a praying gesture, and radiated a sacred light.
"Yes, Lin Mu is truly a good human."
The prerequisite for making everyone happy is to become happy yourself?
She remembered that!
And it was precisely this sentence that led to Gabriel later focusing only on her own pleasure, turning into a lazy Angel.
