Emily finally closed her laptop, satisfied with her strategic proposal. It was thorough, aggressive, and demonstrated she understood economic warfare beyond just having evidence.
Timothy was already in bed, reading on his tablet. Thor was sprawled at the foot of the bed, snoring softly.
Emily changed into pajamas and slipped under the covers. Timothy immediately set his tablet aside and pulled her close.
"Nervous?" he asked.
"Terrified," Emily admitted. "What if Scholar Chen decides I'm not worth his time? What if he thinks I'm just a girl with a vendetta, not a serious threat to Marcus?"
"Then Scholar Chen would be wrong,"
Timothy said simply. "And he's not known for being wrong about people. He'll see what I see....someone brilliant, strategic, and absolutely capable of bringing down a corrupt regime."
Emily buried her face in Timothy's chest. "You're biased."
"I'm accurate," Timothy corrected. "There's a difference."
