Chapter 8 - Genesis Kennel

"Good. Now, the others…"

Liu Wei continued to create beasts from the unlocked Prehistoric collection.

Since they were only Elite grade, he didn't bother on patiently creating each beast with different attributes, like he did with Smilodon and Direwolf cubs.

He merely selected an appropriate attribute and went ahead with the mass production.

But, due to the constraints of the space within the store, he had to choose only 5 in number.

"Okay, done. 15 of them should be enough for the next few days. If they were also sold before their cooldown period is over, we'll think about the normal grade ones. As for the other two heroic-grade beasts, let's visit the auction house and then decide later. But, before that, I should acquire some materials. The cheapest way to get them is, obviously the Underground MLiu Weiet. I wonder if Sophia has any contacts here. Hmm…"

The same day evening;

Genesis Kennel, Royal Ridge Estates;

Owned by the Ravenwing family, Genesis Corp deals in manufacturing and selling magical weapons. It has several subsidiaries, each one belonging to a different sector.

Of them, Genesis Kennels is a company that deals in purely breeding beasts captured from the dungeons followed by giving basic training to the cubs, and then exporting them to other countries.

Aerondor Fireheart is the eldest son-in-law of the Chairman and currently serving as one of the directors of the company.

He had the ambition of succeeding his father-in-law but doesn't have too many supporters within the family or the board due to the fact that he is a Dragon elf.

He might be a 7-Tier Divinian and a descendant of a prestigious family like Fireheart, but still, his race is what blocks his career path. As a result, he had to work harder than the rest.

Genesis Kennels is run by his wife and hence, he has a certain level of authority over there.

With five cubs of two mysterious creatures he never actually heard of before, Aerondor got into the place along with the truck following him from behind.

Despite being located in the heart of the city, Genesis Kennels looked very peaceful. Not even one roar of a beast could be heard anywhere within this 5-acre area.

If one asks whether it is like heaven for the pets or something? Unfortunately, that wasn't the case at all. As dusk arrived, every pet was put to sleep using mild to powerful sedatives. Those that gained immunity to the sedatives were put to sleep using sleeping magic.

Meanwhile, the truck with the ten cubs was driven toward a facility that was named Growth Center.

The cages were all unloaded from the truck and were transported into the building. Aerondor took them to a place that looked like a laboratory.

There are large tubes spread all over the place with about nine different creatures suspended in some kind of strange cyan-colored liquid. All of them appeared to be in a state of deep sleep.

"You are back, hubby. What took you so long," A short-haired woman in long white robes and goggles greeted him with a smile on her face. She is a complete human and merely a Tier-1 Divinian but there is an air of superiority around her.

She scurried toward him as if she was very much happy to see him.

"Honey," Aerondor slightly stretched his hands, intending to hug her, but she just went past him and rushed toward the cages that were brought inside the lab.

Aerondor: …

Upon reaching the cages, she squealed in delight like a little girl, "Oh my god, they look so cute… even better than the pictures. C'mon, hurry up. What are you lot waiting up? Bring them to the table, one after another." She urged the assistants to get to work.

The first Smilodon cub was put on a large table. With her gloves on, she started examining the cub, ignoring her husband.

Aerondor stared at her in silence and patiently waited on the side until she was done with all the basic physical examinations, of course, by taking the help of others due to their noncooperation.

Once it was done and she gave a nod to their next step, he finally opened his mouth, "According to the store, these don't need food for survival. Before putting them into those growth chambers, I want you to find out the secret behind it and see if we can replicate the process for the other beasts."

"You informed me that already. Now, hurry up and go. I might be staying with these babies for the rest of the night…"

On her face, Aerondor saw the familiar-looking expression of a maniac who was obsessed with experimentation. He immediately understood that she meant it.

However, he didn't leave the spot and stared at her.

After a few seconds of silence, she turned her head as her concentration was disturbed by his presence. "What?" She asked in annoyance.

Aerondor replied with a question, "You know what date is tomorrow, right?"

"Tomorrow?" She furrowed her brows. Not being able to remember anything, she started guessing, "Your birthday?"

As Aerondor shook his head, she then asked, "Anyone's birthday? Our marriage anniversary? Anyone's death anniversary?"

He shook his head continuously until his wife lost her patience and raised her voice, "What the fu*k is tomorrow? Just tell me. You are killing my time."

Aerondor calmly answered, "It's the day your daughter is returning home."

"Eh? Nyx is coming back?" At once, the woman was taken aback. "But, wasn't her duty supposed to end on November 27th…" Her eyes widened in realization. "Tomorrow is the 28th?"

Aerondor let out a sigh and nodded, "Yes."

"fu*k… I promised her that I would prepare a compatible beast companion. I forgot…" The woman face-palmed herself in anger. "Why are you telling me this now?" After showing her frustration with him, she further said, "Anyway, I will wrap this up before midnight and will return home before her arrival."

"Okay, just don't tire yourself out, Lira. Your health is more important," Aerondor's tone was calm enough to make one wonder whether he really meant it or just said those words for the sake of it.

Perhaps, he was still embarrassed by the earlier incident and was trying to cover it up, the staff members around thought.

"Alright, go…"

After kicking him out, Lirael ordered the assistants to bring up the equipment to analyze the beasts in order to understand how the cubs of the same breed can have different attributes.

Meanwhile, on the first floor of Primeval Pet Parlor, Liu Wei who was fully dressed up, wearing a long coat over a beige-colored high-neck tee and black torn jeans with his knees almost visible, was seen petting the giant Direwolf as it was whimpering about staying behind. Smilodon, on the other hand, was sleeping.

"I'll be back in one hour or two. Or maybe, the next morning if I'm lucky. Okay? Now, Echo is a good boy, right? Sleep…" He talked with the beast through their telepathic connection.

Locking it in its cage that cannot withstand the force if it ever decides to break out, Liu Wei checked with Smilodon's lock too, and climbed downstairs, leaving the store.

Once he was away, the sleeping prehistoric tiger woke up and let out a growl. "Grrr…"

The Direwolf growled and bared its fangs in response. However, they didn't break out of their cages to fight each other and merely spent their time exchanging verbal insults in their own language.

On the other hand, Liu Wei went to a place called Sector-3, a commercial district in the city, famous for its dating spots.

The cab stopped at the Ridgemount Hotel, where the half-elf Sophia Lightfoot was waiting for him in the lounge.

However, she wasn't alone. There was a middle-aged-looking fellow sitting beside her and both of them had their fingers locked with each other as they were chatting with all laughs.

Liu Wei's face was crestfallen upon witnessing the sight, but he quickly managed to hide it and put up a calm expression on his face before they spotted him.

Upon reaching there, Sophia introduced Liu Wei to the gentleman and vice versa.

"Instead of hiring some unknown stranger and wasting time in the process to find a good one, I thought it was best to contact Richard. He regularly visits the underground market and is willing to become your tour guide."

Shaking Liu Wei's hand, the middle-aged fellow spoke, "Nice to meet you, Mr Liu Wei. I heard that both of you have known each other for years. It's only been a couple of days for me. So, I don't know much about her. Tell me something. What do you think?"

"Eh?" "Huh?"
