Chapter 86 - Special: 6 — Kai's wedding

Luca's POV

Our eldest son is getting married.

Kai, twenty-five now, found his mate—another Alpha named Derek. They're perfect together.

"I'm nervous," Kai admits, adjusting his tie.

"You'll be fine. You love him. That's all that matters." I help with his collar. "You look so handsome."

"Thanks, Papa." He hugs me tight. "Thank you. For everything. For showing me what real love looks like."

"You found it yourself. We just gave you the example." I cup his face. "I'm so proud of you, baby."

"Not a baby anymore."

"Always my baby." I kiss his forehead. "Now go marry your Alpha."

The wedding is beautiful—traditional pack ceremony mixed with modern touches. Kai and Derek stand before the pack, eyes only for each other.

Their vows are heartfelt. "I choose you," Kai says. "Every day. Forever."

Watching my son get married, I'm overwhelmed with emotion. My baby. Grown and in love.

Rian finds me crying during the reception.

"You okay?" he asks gently.

"He's so grown up. When did that happen?"

"While we were busy living." He wraps his arm around me. "He turned out perfect though."

"He really did." I watch Kai dance with Derek, both glowing with happiness. "We raised him right."

"We raised him with love. That's all kids need."

Luna approaches, now twenty-three and stunning. "Papa's crying because Kai's married."

"I'm not crying—"

"You totally are." But she hugs me. "It's sweet."

Asher, twenty-one and newly mated himself, joins us. "Family cuddle?"

All five of us—Rian, me, and our three grown children—huddle together.

"This is weird," Kai says, but he's smiling. "I'm married and we're still doing family cuddles."

"Family is forever," Rian says firmly. "Marriage doesn't change that."

"Good. Because I need you guys." Kai looks at us. "Thank you. For being the best parents. For showing me what love should be."

"Even with how we started?" I can't help asking.

"Especially because of how you started. You turned something terrible into something beautiful. That's powerful." He squeezes my hand. "You taught me that love is choice. Every day. That's what I'm promising Derek."

Later, watching Kai and Derek leave for their honeymoon, Rian holds me close.

"Our baby's married," I say.

"Our baby's happy. That's what matters."

"When did we get old enough to have married children?"

"When we spent twenty-five years building a family." He kisses my temple. "And we're going to spend twenty-five more watching them build theirs."

"I love our life."

"I love you." He turns me to face him. "Thank you. For our children. For this family. For choosing me every day for twenty-five years."

"Thank you for making it worth choosing."

We dance together at our son's wedding, and everything feels complete.
