Chapter 49 - Future

Aefia abruptly opened her eyes. She had unknowingly moved back in time, after she had accidentally encountered with the chimera dragon. Her strength was still pulsing and she could hear rushing footsteps coming towards her direction. In that instant, she knew that they belonged to her lady and Helio. She quickly created a threshold on the dust covered ground with her finger and moved inside the threshold with the dragon.

Upon reaching the area, Aefia made sure to quietly check for any sort of anomaly that caused the arrow to appear from thin air the last time. Sadly, it seemed to her that the arrow was shot from a different location or another possibility was that the anomaly appeared slightly after the dragon reawakened.

It could be possible that the dragon triggered the anomaly, in return it caused the arrow to appear and hit Aefia in the head and since she was also carrying the sacred key, the anomaly probably saw her as a threat, the second they noticed the dragon collapsed on the floor. Although, when the anomaly was triggered couldn't be determined easily.

I am pretty sure, that the dragon is completely binded to the anomaly. But I don't know much about the anomaly. At this point, I don't know if this was an anomaly or a paranormal activity or both. If it were a paranormal activity, I would consider suggesting myself to take down the paranormal creatures first. Either ways, I need to take into account that even when the dragon is unconscious, I will still have to continue the battle with whatever caused the arrow to appear.

By then, the queen's mother and Helio arrived and Aefia shouted out to them. "Don't cross that line I have created! If you do, you will have to be part of this battle alongside me!" She paused for a few seconds and started speaking again. "May I ask her lady? Do you happen to have any sort of chemical or anything like that, which has the power to summon creatures who can perform the 'Stealth' skill?"

There is a high chance for her chemicals to have some magical properties with side effects. If I remember clearly, the last time, when Helio told her that she didn't actually find whatever she was looking for, they was when the arrow pierced my skull and that in return, killed me. Also, she said that she thought it would be too late to find something, could it be that she summoned a paranormal creatures to kill me?

I can't rule out that possibility. That woman needs to be put under strict rules and close observation from now on. I already had a suspicion upon her when she first claimed to have came across this dimension and found me unconscious. And she placed a bunch of chemicals which were meant to treat me, could it be that she was binding me with the paranormal creature who shot the arrow after the dragon was taken down.

That clearly states the fact that this is a spiritual magic user and she was the main factor and reason behind my death which was caused by an arrow. And that arrow was shot with precision directly at me since I wasn't moving earlier on. I can now see who my main opponent is, I will have to take the actions required to cut the bond between her and whoever brainwashed her.

I will have Helio deal with the dragon while I take care of this woman. I don't know how to cut the bond, but I know how to remove the ritualistic bond she has with the paranormal creatures of the other world.

"I can tell you have something in mind, if you eleborate what had happened, I will help you with whatever help you need, as long as you don't take out the dragon like you had done earlier. If so, I will shoot the arrow at your skull, again and again and how many more times you repeat that same mistake. That orange flamed chimera dragon isn't just a pet the demon king has, but it is being guarded by the demon king's right handman right now." A demonic female voice spoke to Aefia from behind her.

She quickly looked to see if her lady was the one speaking, but instead, found that her lady was looking at Aefia with a questioned face. "I don't know what you meant by it. Could you elaborate more on what you have just asked?" Her lady asked her.

Still in shock, Aefia asked again, this time, adding more into her question from earlier by separating the questions. "Do you know how to use spiritualistic magic?" She asked with a pause in between before asking the next question. "Or maybe ritualistic magic?"

So many things are coming into my brain right now, I can't even think clearly on one thing. Didn't she ask me about how I didn't know how to use magic and she mentioned something about my parents teaching me black magic back on Earth, could it be that she tried to warn me with something?

"I know a bit of every magic. But as a royalty, I was asked to choose elemental magic as my main since it is said to be one of the most expensive magic of all three. I don't remember how many skills I have of my element, but I remember that I knew how to do a few." Her lady replied.

"And your element? What is it? Which animal, I meant. And what did your skills major in? Mage or combat with light? Do you know the different areas of magic?" Aefia asked with a more calmed expression.

"I am pretty sure it was a fox. Although my memory about this vary element is pretty unclear, I think majority of the skills would allow me to raise the dead. Not for long, just to help me or protect me from any sort of harm that a person can bring me. The well-known magic users would call me the queen of all Necromancers."

"So you raise the dead. Then how about the way you use the ritualistic and spiritualistic magic? Does it have any sort of relationship with your chemicals? By chance, have you ever tried praying to any unknown creatures who is said to be allied with another powerful group for any sort of help when you were going through your hard times?"

"I do remember praying to an unknown powerful king when my son went missing. That was also when I was suddenly summoned into an unknown realm and my memory after that is very foggy. But I remember clearly, seeing a red skinned goblin sitting on a stone chair covered in thorns, and holding some sort of large weapon. He was saying something in an unknown language. I thought, maybe it were a guardian, but a mage or seer approached me and I immediately used a small kitchen knife to stab it and raise it's dead soul."

"You have committed a grave mistake by trying to approach a powerful entity through ritualistic magic. If you really had a fear in death, you shouldn't have mentioned such an entity to begin with." Aefia replied and another arrow pierced through Aefia's skull.

Once she was moved back into the first block, Aefia restarted everything she had previously done and waited for the others to arrive. Within that short amount of time, she tried to recall everything that she had heard from her lady the previous encounter.

Right, now that I know that there is a paranormal creature involved in this incident, I need to clear my thoughts on how to avoid the demonic creature from recognizing my next step. Because all I know for now is that whoever that was, I can't live my entire life with that thing walking behind me.

It seems to be in a very bad mood because I had accidentally knocked out the dragon. It also has the power to rewind time. So how do I organize my steps in a way for that evil entity to stop chasing me? I have heard that facing with a paranormal creature like that, would often mean that you want to fight. I still have my extra strength to help me through even when I choose to take the risk and fight.

She walked towards the other side of the threshold and used her feet to scribble somethings onto the dust covered floor while saying a few things. She wrote, in English, a bunch of words which made up a short sentence which explained the current situation and decided to wake the dragon ahead of time. She took out the sacred key she had in her hand, and used it to stroke the dragon's head.

The orange flame coming from the eyehole, grew brighter. That was because, the sacred key wasn't a key at all, it was a key shaped pocket knife Aefia would often carry around with her when she went outside or in public.

The dragon noticed the key, but didn't see any gold light coming from it, so it didn't see Aefia as a threat. It snuggled its jaw onto Aefia's hands and sat up, but didn't place any attack at Aefia. Seeing this, the demonic creature casted a spell on Aefia that highlighted that she indeed had the sacred key in her hand, but it was out of notice.

Aefia looked at her closed left hand, glowing a bright gold colour. So this is how powerful you truly are, but I am not going to face you unless I have adequate information about you from your doings. Don't mind my actions if it bothers you and you want to protest for your privacy, but I would sincerely like to tell you that this is just my way of predicting my enemy's next moves.

The dragon somehow still couldn't see that there was another entity behind her and continued placing attacks at her, thinking that she carried some kind of strong magical properties to cage it back at the Palace of Thorns, next to the demon king.

I don't think it should be a problem for the demon king if he loses an expe since pet and a right handman, for the damage he has been doing, I think it is well-deserved for him to suffer such severe fate. And I also know you can read minds, or else, how could you tell I had somethings already in mind the last time you shot me with the same arrow?

While trying not to lose it's stealth state, it tried to attack Aefia. But knowing how she moves during an attack, the creature moved back several steps to prevent her from recognizing that the creature is nearby.

Now that they are gone, I believe it is time that I try and break that gemstone on top of its head to drive it unconscious, but not dead. If her lady was really known as a necromancer, than I believe it is completely right for me to kill it.

The chimera dragon swung its tail bone towards Aefia which she dodged by slicing it, in half with her sword. Soon after the impact with the bone, it changed back into a dagger. So any heavy duty that this knife is used to endure, it will change its state of blade and type of weapon. Alright, I will keep that in mind.

She used her knowledge from the last time to leap up into the air and hung from the wing bones. From there, she swung herself upright and pierced its backbone. The pain caused by the stab, made the dragon stand back up on its hind legs while Aefia stayed hanging from the wing. Once the dragon flapped its wings, it created a force to push Aefia towards the skull, but the only opportunity she could get was to stab the gemstone upon impact with the skull.

She hit the gemstone and the creature noticed from afar and that too was the time her lady and Helio approached. Seeing the scene, they stood near the created threshold and Helio read the text written in English. "I think Aefia will need you to raise the dragon from its death while Aefia deals with something else. I think we are supposed to brainwash the dragon to help her defeat a paranormal creature. That is the demon king's right handman." Helio explained to her lady.

"I can do that, but I haven't had the practice required to perform such impossible task for a long time now. I am not confident I will be able to raise a dead species just like that." Her lady hesitated.

"If you don't do it, Aefia will have no choice but to kill the both of us, thinking we betrayed her. As you very well know, she will be dealing with a demonic creature." Helio made sure to lure her lady into doing so, but he lied about the fact that Aefia was even one percent, willing to kill just any of them.

In the meantime, Aefia let the dragon collapse and got down from the remains. Knowing that anytime now, the arrow was going to pierce through her brain, she turned around instantly to face the demonic creature who had a witch-like voice.

She also knew that once a human realized that there was indeed a paranormal creature behind them, the stealth form of the demon would extinguish and the demon will have no choice but to reveal their true form only to the person who has found out. Aefia had long found out that there was something behind her, but refused to turn since she was desperately waiting for this moment to come.

While facing the demon, Aefia saw that it was the size of the chimera dragon that was laying unconscious on the ground and it was holding a spear, one resembling the long blade with a curved edge and a pointy tip. The demon herself was dressed in black with black raven feather wings and a fabric with stars shimmering on it, covering her face. There were smaller stars hanging from the end of the fabric which covered until the mouth.

The demon raised her hand and a portal appeared. From there, an arrow appeared, travelling at instance spread towards Aefia. She gulped as if she knew that in any possible universe, she couldn't dodge it. She closed her eyes for the final time and depended solely on her instincts.
