Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: I'm The Heir To The Richest Man?

Once inside the elevator, Elias looked at his right hand with a helpless expression. Although the feel of the beautiful woman's chest was quite pleasant, Elias knew he had gotten himself into big trouble.

But right now, he had no time to worry about that. He just wanted to figure out what was going on with the money!

Moments later, the elevator reached the twenty-seventh floor.

Elias stepped out of the elevator and found that the entire floor had a single office. The office was luxuriously decorated, and the location offered a stunning view of Sue City.

A middle-aged man in a black suit quickly stood up and walked over to Elias as soon as he saw him. With a respectful tone, he said,

"Young Master Cross, you're here!"

"Are you the one who called me earlier?" Elias asked, frowning.

"Yes, Young Master Cross. Let me introduce myself. I'm James Obunga, the general manager of Acacia Group," Obunga said with a smile.

"Oh, I see," Elias nodded slightly. As he looked around the office, he asked, "So, what's this inheritance you mentioned on the phone?"

"Young Master Cross, do you remember saving an old man with the last name Brown about ten years ago?" Obunga asked softly.

"An old man named Brown?" Elias instinctively paused, then suddenly recalled that he had indeed saved an old man when he was younger. However, it had been so long ago that he couldn't remember the old man's last name.

"Young Master Cross, here's the situation. Mr. Gerald Brown was the chairman of Acacia Group. He passed away three days ago and left a will. Since he had no children or family, all his assets are to be inherited by you," Obunga explained slowly.

"I'm inheriting all of this by myself?"

Elias was stunned when he heard Mr. Obunga say this. It felt like something that only happened in TV dramas.

"That's right. Let me give you a brief overview of Chairman Brown's estate. The publicly traded companies include Acacia Group in Sue City, Breeze Group, and Evergreen Pharmaceuticals Group..."

As he spoke, Mr. Obunga picked up a document from his desk and began explaining what Elias would be inheriting.

At first, Elias listened intently to Mr. Obunga's introduction, but soon, it all started to feel like a dream. He couldn't help but interrupt, frowning,

"Wait a minute. Are you sure all of this is mine alone?"

"Absolutely!" Mr. Obunga nodded lightly, looking at Elias.

"And how much is all of this worth?" Elias continued to ask.

"Well..." Mr. Obunga paused for a moment, then said softly, "Young Master Cross, my rough estimate would be over five trillion dollars."

"F-Five trillion? And in dollars..."

Elias was instantly frozen in place, his face showing utter disbelief.

"Yes!"

Mr. Obunga nodded again, looking at Elias.

"All of this... all of this money is mine?" Elias shouted, feeling that everything happening to him was beyond comprehension. Five trillion dollars was about to become his — something he couldn't even dream of.

"That's correct!"

Mr. Obunga replied with a cheerful smile.

"That can't be right!" Elias shook his head vigorously and continued, "You're definitely lying to me. Sure, I did save an old man once, but if he was really that rich, why have I never heard of him? Five trillion dollars? That would make him the richest person in the world!"

"Young Master Cross, you must be referring to the Forbes list?" Mr. Obunga responded with a faint smile.

"Yes, exactly that list. If he was really that wealthy, why isn't his name on it?" Elias questioned.

"Young Master Cross, do you think someone of Chairman Brown's stature would choose to be on such a list?"

"What do you mean?" Elias asked, puzzled.

"Let me explain it this way. The people you see on those lists are there mainly for fame. With fame, they can access better social resources. But Chairman Brown has long passed that stage; he doesn't want to overly expose his identity."

Mr. Obunga paused, then looked at Elias and said,

"Chairman Brown once said that the troubles of the rich are far greater than those of the poor. So, Young Master Cross, if you inherit this fortune, I would advise you not to reveal your identity. It would bring you no benefit."

Elias looked at Mr. Obunga in front of him. He felt that Mr. Obunga wasn't lying. Even a con artist wouldn't bother with someone as broke as he was. Besides, the money in his bank account was real, and Mr. Obunga's office was extremely luxurious. How could a con artist afford such an office?

"What are the requirements for me to inherit this fortune?" Elias asked, trying to suppress his excitement.

Mr. Obunga found a document on his desk and handed it to Elias.

"Young Master Cross, this is Chairman Brown's will. As long as you sign it, everything will be yours. But there's one thing you need to be aware of."

"What is it?" Elias asked, taking the will from Mr. Obunga, his expression full of curiosity.

"Chairman Brown specifically mentioned in his will that if you want to inherit his estate, you must marry Miss Lavender Rowe Harris. Otherwise, you won't be able to inherit anything," Mr. Obunga said slowly.

"Who is Lavender Rowe Harris?" Elias was taken aback. He hadn't expected such a peculiar condition for inheriting the estate. Money and a wife?

"According to the will, I am not allowed to disclose any information about Miss Harris," Mr. Obunga replied calmly.

"Is this Lavender Rowe Harris some kind of ugly duckling?" Elias asked, frowning.

"Young Master Cross, you really don't need to worry about Miss Harris's appearance. With today's advanced cosmetic technology, even if she were a pig, as long as you have the money, she could be turned into a beauty," Mr. Obunga said with a chuckle.

"You have a point there..." Elias nodded slightly and then continued, "Alright, I agree to the terms of the will."

"If you have no further questions, you can sign here, and the will can take effect immediately," Mr. Obunga said, handing the will to Elias.

Faced with such a substantial inheritance, Elias couldn't refuse. Marrying a woman was a small price to pay. Heck, he might even agree to marry a pig if it meant getting the money — especially since he was in desperate need of it.

After signing the will, Mr. Obunga put it away and respectfully handed Elias two cards.

"What are these?" Elias asked, puzzled, as he looked at the cards in his hand.

"Young Master Cross, the first card is a black card from the Huaxia Bank. This card has no spending limit, meaning you can use it to spend millions or even billions without any issue. The second card is the Supreme Emperor Card from the Emperor Club, representing the highest social status. You can use this card to enjoy all the privileges at the Emperor Club," Mr. Obunga explained quickly.

Elias wasn't particularly interested in the Emperor Club card since he had no idea what the Emperor Club was. However, the Huaxia Bank black card piqued his interest. He smiled at Mr. Obunga and asked,

"Are you sure I can withdraw any amount of money with this card?"

"Absolutely certain. All expenses on this card are charged to your company's internal accounts, and since your company is valued at over five trillion dollars, any expense below that amount is perfectly fine!" Mr. Obunga explained softly.

"I never imagined there could be such an amazing credit card!" Elias grinned, baring his teeth, already planning to test it out at the bank later.

"Oh, by the way, Young Master Cross, here's my business card. I usually handle your company's affairs, so if you ever run into any trouble, feel free to call me anytime!" Mr. Obunga handed Elias his business card with great respect.

"Got it!" Elias took the card and continued, "If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."

"Let me see you out..." Mr. Obunga quickly offered.

"No need, I'll go myself!" Elias waved his hand casually and then turned to leave Mr. Obunga's office.

A few minutes later, Elias stepped out of the elevator.

"Clang!"

More than a dozen security guards immediately surrounded Elias. Seeing the security guards, Elias was instantly dumbfounded and at a loss for what to do.

"You little pervert, finally caught you!"

The sexy woman whom Elias had previously bumped into stepped out from the crowd, crossing her arms and shouting arrogantly.

"Yeah, you filthy beggar! How dare you take advantage of our Manager Della? You must have a death wish! Look at yourself, you're a disgrace..." Wynter, the receptionist, chimed in loudly.

"I admit I was wrong before, and I've already apologized. What more do you want?" Elias asked, frowning at the sexy woman in front of him.

"What do I want? Do you even realize how disgusted I was by you? Someone like you trying to take advantage of me? Do you even know who I am? Just thinking about what happened makes me sick!" The sexy woman shouted at Elias with a tone full of disdain.

"Your disgust is your problem, not mine. Now, move aside. I need to leave!" Elias was getting angry at her open insults, and his tone turned stiff.

"You want to leave?" The sexy woman sneered, pointing at Elias. "You're not going anywhere until this matter is resolved!"

"And how do you propose to resolve it?" Elias asked calmly, looking up at the sexy woman.

"You... you kneel down and apologize to me, then get out of this hall. Only then will I consider this matter settled. Otherwise, I'll have you sent straight to the police station!" The sexy woman shouted loudly.

"Yeah, kneel down and apologize to Manager Della!" The crowd around them quickly joined in, urging him on.

Elias stood alone in the middle of the crowd, looking utterly helpless. He couldn't believe how far this woman was taking things. All because he had accidentally touched her chest, she now demanded that he kneel and apologize.

"What are you standing there for, kid? Get on your knees already!" The security guard shouted disdainfully.

Elias turned his head to look at the guard, remaining silent. Though he was poor, it didn't mean he had no dignity!

"Della, what are you and these guards doing?"

Suddenly, a roar came from behind Elias. Everyone present froze upon hearing those words!
