Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – The Girl Who Ruined My Sleep

Kenji Tanaka had two addictions: black coffee and oversleeping. He wasn't lazy — not exactly — just chronically unlucky. His alarm clock had stopped believing in him years ago, and even his cat had given up trying to wake him for work.

But today was different.

Because this morning, when Kenji opened his eyes, a woman was standing in his apartment.

Not a woman — the woman.

She was impossibly beautiful. Her hair fell like moonlight over her shoulders, and her eyes were the exact color of a clear spring sky. She wore a white dress that shimmered faintly, like starlight clinging to fabric.

And she was holding a frying pan.

"Good morning, husband," she said sweetly. "Breakfast is almost ready."

Kenji froze, staring. "...Husband?"

"Yes," she said with a dazzling smile. "You married me. Don't tell me you've forgotten already!"

Kenji blinked once, twice, and then looked down at himself. Pajamas. Coffee stain. Morning breath.Definitely single. Definitely not married.

He rubbed his eyes. "Okay, dream. Ha-ha. Very funny."

The woman frowned, crossing her arms. "Dream? Do you always call your wife a hallucination?"

"Only when she breaks into my apartment."

"I didn't break in," she said, offended. "You invited me last night."

He frowned. "I did?"

"Yes. You said, and I quote—" she cleared her throat dramatically, "—'If I ever meet a woman who can cook, I'll marry her immediately.'"

Kenji blinked. "...That was a tweet."

"Well," she said brightly, "the universe read it."

He stared at her. She smiled like that made perfect sense.

Then, the smell hit him — eggs, rice, miso soup. The dream wife could cook.

"Wait," he said slowly. "If this is a dream, that means I'm still asleep, right? So if I eat this food…" He poked the rice. "I won't taste it."

He took a bite.

He tasted it.

And it was good.

Kenji looked at her, horrified. "Oh no. Oh no no no. Don't tell me—"

She clasped her hands behind her back, tilting her head. "You're not dreaming, silly. You just wished too hard."

He dropped his chopsticks. "You mean you—what—came out of my tweet?!"

She nodded cheerfully. "Mm-hm. I'm your wife now. My name's Aika."

Kenji pinched himself. Hard."Ow!"

Aika giggled. "You're cute when you panic."

"Lady, this is illegal."

"Marriage?" she teased. "Not in the dream world."

He sighed. "Okay, fine. Let's say this is real. What are you doing in my life?"

She smiled mysteriously. "Maybe I came to fix it."
