"Stop resisting! Our Pokémon have had their abilities enhanced by Dr. Nanba's 'Pokémon Rage Device,' so they're not like the trash Pokémon of Jessie and James. They can't even compare," Kozaburo boasted, a smug grin spreading across his face.
"Hmph, stop with the nonsense. Do you know how Villains like you die? They die from talking too much. And I certainly won't be like you," Alex Carter muttered to himself, deliberately lowering his voice so only he could hear it.
"Their two Pokémon—Shellder excels in defense, and Houndoom in offense. They've been strengthened by Team Rocket's doctor; no wonder they're so arrogant. But I'm not the 'enemy' they've faced before," Alex thought, simultaneously commanding Muk and Haunter:
"Haunter, Dark Pulse! Muk, Sludge Bomb!"
"No matter how many times you try, it'll be the same, a waste of effort, you brat. Shellder, use Aurora Beam to block his attack! Houndoom, Flamethrower!" Kozaburo and Amado commanded with confident expressions.
Shellder fired a rainbow-colored beam skyward, transforming into a barrier to block Muk's Sludge Bomb. Meanwhile, Houndoom's flames clashed with Haunter's Dark Pulse, stirring up a cloud of smoke.
"How about it, Alex? They seem strong. Do you need our help?" Ash, Misty, and Brock asked, already holding their Poké Balls.
"No need, just watch. I'll end this battle quickly," Alex said confidently.
Alex knew it wouldn't be easy to defeat them, so he was testing their strength. A subtle smile, hard to detect, curved at the corners of his mouth.
After the smoke cleared, Muk's figure was gone, leaving only Haunter floating, waving its claws. Houndoom lay defeated on the ground, and Shellder looked bewildered.
"Brat, what exactly did you do? How could this happen..." Before Kozaburo could finish, Muk emerged from underground, rubbing against Alex's side.
"So that's it. Your Muk learned Dig, a Ground-type move. No wonder it defeated my Houndoom in one hit. We were careless," Kozaburo realized, gritting his teeth.
"Shellder, use Razor Shell with full power!" Amado commanded fiercely.
"This time you're overestimating yourself! Muk, intercept Shellder, then throw it towards Haunter!" Alex commanded methodically.
Upon receiving the command, Muk stood upright, making its body soft and resilient. It blocked Shellder with its body, using its elasticity to absorb Razor Shell's force, then flung it towards Haunter.
Seeing this, Haunter quickly waved its claws, condensing a green Energy Ball, and fired it at Shellder.
"Energy Ball!? Your Haunter knows such a powerful Grass-type move! Shellder, quickly use Iron Defense, Iron Defense!" Amado yelled anxiously.
Unfortunately, Shellder couldn't react in time. Muk had already poisoned Shellder with Poison Jab, and it took Haunter's powerful Energy Ball head-on, losing its ability to battle.
"Brock, Misty, let's go together! Let's help Alex repel them!" Ash shouted excitedly after Alex defeated Team Rocket's Pokémon.
"Okay! Starmie, Goldeen, Bubble Beam! Geodude, Rock Throw! Pikachu, Thunderbolt! Charmander, Flamethrower! Squirtle, Water Gun!" Ash, Brock, and Misty released their Pokémon simultaneously.
"Boom~" After a loud bang, Kozaburo and Amado, along with their Pokémon, were sent flying by the powerful attacks, shouting in the air, "What a nasty feeling! We'll definitely be back!"
Alex's face darkened. "Isn't that Jessie and James's line?" He glanced back, realizing they had disappeared, likely slipping away quietly. "As expected, they're cowards."
"System Alert: Helped Ash and his group overcome a difficulty, rewarded 20,000 points." The system's voice echoed in Alex's mind.
"Host, you can decide what to do next. No tasks are currently assigned," the system's cold voice rang out.
"What do you mean? Do I need a system like you to tell me what to do?" Alex thought, complaining to the system... This time, the system didn't reply.
"Alex, do you want to join us at Lan Pruzi for a vacation? It's a great resort! We're planning to go there and relax. It's been nothing but trouble, so it's rare to have a place like this to rest," Misty suggested, looking at Alex.
"Ah, sure. Anyway, I don't have anything else to do, and it'll give Haunter and the others a chance to rest. So, I'll gladly accept," Alex agreed immediately.
"Alex, next time you get a chance, battle me! You're a strong opponent. I can't beat you now, but I will in the future!" Ash's eyes were full of passion as he clapped Alex on the shoulder.
"...Okay, I'll wait for your challenge. It'll be a great battle!" The light in Ash's eyes momentarily dazed Alex. "If I weren't a Villain, perhaps we could have been great partners. What a pity..."
This daze lasted only a few seconds before Alex's resolve returned. It was better not to have such thoughts.
"Beach, here we come!!" Misty shouted excitedly, rushing towards the beach.
"Rare leisure time. It would be great to have a boat. Sailing is truly relaxing," Alex said casually, in a rare good mood.
"Look! There's a boat over there! Let's hurry, Pikachu is already on it," Brock pointed toward the pier.
"Yay, let's go! Alex, Ash, let's all go together," Misty urged, pushing Ash and Alex over.
On the boat:
"Brock is amazing! He found this boat. I felt regret when Alex mentioned it," Misty said, stretching and smiling.
"Ah? Didn't Ash find this boat? I just saw Pikachu on it, so I..." Brock felt embarrassed.
"No way, are we considered to have taken a civilian boat?" Alex feigned an awkward expression.
As they pondered what to do, an unknown object rushed beneath the water, causing the boat to lose control and crash into the pier, damaging it.
"You guys are too hateful! You drove my boat away and then broke it!"
