"Agh why on the weekends I can't even rest properly I'm so tired" Grace said and continued walking towards Mr Thomas house as she received a sudden call from him at around 9 pm to come babysit their little girl named lia.
Grace has been babysitting lia for a while now and her parents trust grace with their baby also grace don't mind babysitting because lia is a friendly kid who doesn't trouble her much.
Grace went near the door of Mr Thomas house and rang the doorbell. Around five minutes passed but no one answered the door annoyed grace rang the bell once again after a few minutes the door opend with Mr Thomas standing in front of grace.
He welcomed her inside she greeted him and went inside asking about lia and lia's mother. Mr Thomas told her she's upstairs putting lia to bed so she won't disturb you much. Grace and nodded and she noticed something strange the moment she entered the house Mr Thomas was looking weird especially not his usually self he looked scared? Nervous? Or maybe worried? She couldn't figure it out what it was also she noticed a small cut on his forehead bleeding a little which made her a little anxious.
Grace asked Mr Thomas where are they going all of a sudden without informing her beforehand usually Mr and Mrs's Thomas call grace and tell her a day before if they want her to babysit lia so garce can make time for it but this time it was really sudden and she couldn't even refuse because she's short on money.
"Oh it's just we had to attend a company dinner but we forgot about it so yeah I know it's was so sudden for you but I'll pay you extra for this" Before grace could reply Mrs's Thomas walked down the stairs looking down.
Grace greeted her with a smile. Lina looked at her and hugged her grace was surprised but she hugged her back. "Are you ok? Mrs's Thomas" Grace asked politely before lina opend her mouth Mr Thomas grabbed her arm pulling her towards him. "Oh honey we're getting late we should now shouldn't we?"
Lina nodded and looked at grace "take care" . Then they left grace was clueless she didn't understand what was happening she decided to look at lia before doing something else making sure she's ok and sleeping comfortably. Grace went upstairs opened lia's bedroom door the light's were off she walked near her cot the only source of light was the moonlight coming through the window behind lia's cot.
Grace went near it smiling, But her smile disappeared as soon as she looked inside.
There was nothing. No one inside the cot. Just a piece of paper.
Grace was shocked surprised and scared? She picked the paper it was a letter. Grace started reading it
"Grace my dear I'm sorry I'm very sorry it happened so suddenly that we didn't know what to do. It happened when we were getting ready for bed when someone or something broke inside her house. We tried to stop it. We tried to get help but it was all a waste of time. We begged him to not kill us. He asked if you have something or someone else to offer and we thought about you. Please forgive us if you can. (Signed by lina)"
Grace couldn't believe what she just read she tried to convince herself that it was just a sick prank as her mind went blank with fear and breathing started getting heavy. Then she heard the sound of car engine she went near the window and outside Mr and Mrs Thomas were inside the car grace looked closely and there was lia sleeping peacefully in Mrs's Thomas arm's.
Then the drove off. Grace wanted to scream she wanted to run but her feet were frozen with fear suddenly she heard a creaking sound and the door behind her closed.
