Meryl's POV
I didn't give a damn about whatever argument was happening outside my door. I didn't care about the secrets they were so determined to hide from me. All I knew was that my body felt like it was being consumed by flames from the inside out. My skin burned, my bones ached, and something wild was clawing its way through my veins, desperate to break free.
"Andre!" I screamed, my fingers digging into the bedsheets until my knuckles turned white. But he wasn't here, and nothing I did could make this agony stop. I couldn't just lie here while they debated outside like I wasn't dying in this room.
I forced myself to stand, my vision blurring from the heat that seemed to radiate from behind my eyes. Everything was spinning, but I managed to stumble toward the bathroom. Maybe cold water would help. Maybe something, anything, could cool this fire that was eating me alive.
