Chapter 4 - Chapter four

My heart skipped a beat

"I'll tell you how I feel," Sophi whispered, her voice softer than a siren's calming the storm rising within me.

Her words echoed in my heart, I was impatient, speak already.

But she didn't finish. Instead, she stood and wrapped the towel around herself… slow, deliberate, as if the act was building a wall that moments earlier had almost fallen.

"Not while you are drunk and hurting." Walking away Sophi paused turned and looked in my direction.

" All of a sudden, you are expressing how you love me? You don't even dare to do that with a clear mind, you have to be drunk to tell me Caspa, Huh!!?" She lifted her brow.

"Please go to your room, this is not how you will choose me. Tears ran down her cheeks.

I wanted to argue, but my heart was in pain I could feel the pain going down to my belly.

Her eyes… Steady, pleading.

I stood up " I..I.. Sophi… Jee… I can't lose you." I said, my throat tight.

" You won't" She answered, her tone quiet and sure. But this… whatever this is… has to come from clarity, not chaos and intoxicating speaking."

The words sliced through the tension in my head.

I walked towards her lifted her chin gazed into her eyes

" Sophi… I am sorry for my actions tonight." walking slowly and reluctantly towards the door. Sophi gripped me by the arm my gaze met hers her eyes looking like the seven seas " I love you "

That was it, my emotions exploded. I pressed my lips on hers, thrust my tongue deep into her throat.

Grasped her by the hips lifted her, and she wrapped her slender feet around my waist.

I felt five emotions at once all extreme happiness.

I walked gently towards the bed.

Outside, thunder roared like a lion, even nature felt the magic happening.

Rain began to tap the glass. It sounded like a melody to my eyes.

The streetlight spilled over her shoulders, turning her damp hair into threads of gold.

She looked unreal … like half goddess, half miracle. I plunged into her neck, and I could feel her body tingle.

She smelled like a garden of fresh oriental lilies.

She softly moved her hands on my back, every movement magnified my passion.

" Sophi… Sophi… I whispered in her ears

The rest was magic, pure magic. That memory deserves to be in a museum.

History was established.

A sound woke me

I didn't know how long I'd slept, but for the first time in five years, I had an amazing night. I sat up, my heart at peace, filled with Joy and contentment.

" Sophi!!" I called quietly thinking she was in the bathroom.

No answer

A note on the bedside table caught my attention.

" I left for work, Hope you are feeling better. I made coffee and breakfast.

Lock on your way out and keep the key under the flower vase by the door.

Sophi."

I held the note closed me eyes, sniffing it trying to relive last night. I couldn't hold back my smile.

I walked into the kitchen and on the table was, maple maple-glazed pancake stack with crispy bacon. By the side were fresh berries and a glass of orange juice.

I hurriedly sat down and devoured the meal. It was delicious, and I needed energy as last night drained me.

I giggled as the thoughts flashed through my brain.

The scent of warm maple syrup lingered in the kitchen like a sweet whisper, wrapping around me as I scraped the last smear of bacon from the plate.

The pancakes were perfect… soft and fluffy, a little crispy at the edges.

Sophia's touch was everywhere: the careful arrangement of berries, the folded napkin beside the glass of orange juice.

I set down my fork and leaned back, breathing in the moment.

I touched the side of my neck where her breath had been hours ago, a warmth, that memory lingered in my mind

I picked up my phone.

I should call her …. No

I should wait.

I should…

The indecision felt like a weight in my chest. Sophi has been clear: whatever we were becoming, it had to start with clarity, not the haze of a drunken night.

Still the way she looked at me, eyes like the deep sea holding stones and calm all at once.

Made me realize we had crossed an invisible threshold.

I felt peace I had never felt even on my wedding day to Clara. " Oh, Clara!!" I remembered

Checking through my phone to see if she called or texted.

Nothing.

I wasn't shocked though. I knew she didn't care neither do I.

I realize that a month into our marriage Clara had married me for my wealth. Unfortunately, my Dad didn't trust her and put a clause in the will that until after 10 years of marriage, Clara can have no right to the company's shares as my spouse.

He also made her sign a prenup: she has no access to my personal wealth I acquired before our marriage but everything after we can share. But in the case of infidelity on her part, she has access to nothing.

On my part, she has access to half of everything I own including the company's shares.

And I just gave Clara half of my wealth from my act last night.

But that's only if she found out… so I planned on keeping it a secret still I figure out what to do about my marriage with Clara.

Warm water rushed down washing away every crumb from the plate, I rinsed, dried the plate to a soft shine, and slid it into the cupboard.

My phone clicked it was a message from Sophi

" Hope you are awake."

The message curved in my mind like music notes. I smiled without meaning to

She texted me. This was going to go somewhere.

I hurriedly replied " Yes!! Thank you for breakfast."

"See to it you talk with Clara." Her reply.

Sophi sounded cold, normally she would call me "Jee.."

No emoji…

I have destroyed my only true friendship, I thought or am I overthinking? " No… I have not."

I concluded I was overthinking because the thought of losing Sophi was not an option.

Oh! Was I wrong, I could never imagine what I was about to experience.

That became the least of my worries. Not just my friendship with Sophi would be destroyed but my life and dreams.
