The room glowed red. At this altitude, even breathing was a threat. Chained to a chair in the center, restrained and blindfolded, was Delilah, a member of the NeverLight crew.
Before her sat a child with blonde hair, dressed in a casual yellow hoodie and red summer shorts. This was Holly, a Hybrid whose nature was sporadic in this world.
Holly had been Delilah's only companion since she was captured as bait to draw out the NeverLight crew's leader. He had an agenda, a rematch with her brother, hoping for a real fight this time. Yet his constant visits to Delilah served some other, unclear purpose.
"I heard they are here…"
Holly spoke with his hands tucked in his pockets, smiling unwaveringly. Thrilled.
Delilah looked terribly pale and drawn. Her lips were cracked, nostrils raw from the thin air. But that was the least of her worries right now.
"I hope he lasts long enough to give me a good fight this time. You're coming, aren't you?"
