Ruo Qiu has never rode in a horse carriage before and it sure wasn't as comfortable as an automobile. There's barely any cushion on the seats and the roads aren't smooth so the carriage is constantly bopping up and down, ranging from subtle—tiny rocks and pebbles—to very bumpy—bigger stones. Hence, Ruo Qiu couldn't help but shift in her seat every few seconds.
"Can you stop fidgeting?" The Prince of Yan, whom Ruo Qiu found out that his name is Wu Lei after she overheard Chen Zheyuan calling him, clicked his tongue at her.
Ruo Qiu narrowed her eyes at the man and thought, "How can I get him to smile at me when all he ever shows me is scorn and contempt?"
"I need to think of something–fast. This is the best chance to increase his level of affection for me." Ruo Qiu muttered inaudibly.

Ruo Qiu can't shake off this nagging feeling—but honestly, maybe this is exactly what she needs right now if she wants to get closer to the male lead. Hesitantly, she nodded slightly and muttered under her breath, "sure."

Almost immediately after the system finished announcing, the horse carriage shook.
"What the—" Ruo Qiu's eyes widened in shock.
Ruo Qiu was about to pry open the window when Wu Lei beat her to it. She thought she heard someone shout "bandits".
"This plot device thing sure is efficient." Ruo Qiu thought as she naturally covered her mouth with her hand, trying to lead people into thinking that she was gasping in shock, but in truth, she was happy, and grinning underneath.
"Protect the carriage!" Somebody outside shouted.
The horse carriage shook and swayed as the coachman tried to calm the horse down and steer the carriage straight as best as he possibly could. The four people sitting in the enlarged wooden box struggle to stick their bottoms to their seat.
"I should go down and take a look." Wu Lei said but Chen Zheyuan stuck an arm out to stop him.
"Let me." He said and immediately got off the still rocking carriage smoothly in a swift movement.
"Ooo is that martial arts?" Ruo Qiu thought, feeling excited at the chance of witnessing martial arts in the flesh but she had to hide the sparkles in her eyes. She had to pretend to be scared.
"Are you okay?" Her sister asked as she scooted closer to Ruo Qiu.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She answered while pulling her sister closer to her by her arms.
Her sister looked genuinely scared, which she should be.
All of a sudden, the carriage came to a halt.
