I woke up to the soft comfort of my mattress, stretched my legs, rolled it up and walked out of my almost crumbling shelter, the sun was almost up and I had to leave for the town's market to make a few purchase , the empire of malock stretched along continents, the largest occupying the map, ruled by beasts but also housed different species of creatures and races, wolves, elfs, warlock , and humans who were at the bottom line of the pyramid.
*** I was a human and an orphan at that who lived in the tiny village of shore, basically located along the down hills of a river, I recently turned twenty, I have spent most of my life growing up in this village which mostly occupied farmers and fishers.
*** Madeline , I turned to see sunny my best friend , walking towards me with her basket , I also have things to buy , so let's go together , she said and we soon left for the town's market , have you heard the circulating news about how countless villages have been raided throughout last month, sunny asked me, so I heard, it was such a horrible sight , they mostly took young men and women with children killing most of the elderly.
*** I am afraid for ourselves who knows what they do to those taken, I wouldn't want to find out , I said as we got to the market, thomas told me he wants to marry me in three days time, sunny said as I turned to look at her, that's great news sunny, you both can finally be together I said embracing her in a tight hug, Thomas and sunny has been lovers since childhood and were always working together, I admired they strong bond and had always prayed I would meet someone like that .
*** The market as usual was noisy and busy with children running round the market, but I could also hear the gossips about the raids happening, it has implanted fear down the bones of almost every one, the villages were mostly made up of humans and elfs but we all lived in harmony, I bought the necessary things I needed and left since sunny wanted to accompany Thomas to sell his goods.
*** I returned back home to engage myself in making beads which was the source of my income, the malock empire were rich in Gold , silver , gems and other valuables, and mostly loved the craft of beading.
*** I made waist beads for women and children and sold them in the market, I had learnt it from my mother, who loved them and I had continued off with her bussiness when she died.
*** I slept off but before making sure I had a good amount to sell the next day, I woke up to the sound of things breaking and people screaming in the dead of the night, I dragged my self from my mattress to look outside the window only to see burly mens tearing apart houses and dragging people out, I was horrified at the sight of them, I have heard about the beast clan but had never seen them , as they mostly lived at the south side of the empire, as I stared in horror as some trying to run away were killed and mauled , my feets shook with fears as beads of sweats rolled down my face .
*** I soon saw as sunny was dragged away from a screaming Thomas and the sight of my best friend dragged made my feets hurry in fear to her, sunny I shouted as I ran to her, the beast dragging her turned to me as if sizing me up waved to the man next to him , as the man dragged me towards a cage with sunny , a voice at the back of my head scolded me for coming out, which would have saved me from being captured but I couldn't leave sunny, I would have regretted it if I did.
*** We were dumped in like trash into the large cage, as I scotted towards sunny who looked hollow with visible wounds on her face and feets, I looked back to the village as I saw them kill the elderly and dragged the children to a different cage, I had never experienced this level of violence before, people cried beside me and most I couldn't recognize as it seemed there were picked up from different villages .
*** I didn't know how I possibly slept off, but I woke up to the rattling of chains as I saw my hands bounded alongside with my feet, the beast man was beside the next person who screamed as she was slapped hard across the face, which earned the silence of the rest of the people.
*** I cried quietly as the taunting cold shudderd down my body, where were they taking us?,I surely wouldn't want to find out, but it seemed I have already come to become part of the recent gossips, the cage soon began to move , and the village reduced to dots within a span of minutes.
*** I woke up to blinding glare of the sun, we were still inside the cage and my throat felt patched , and I was hungry , sunny was still sleeping and she had hardly spoken a word to me since yesterday, I could only guess how it felt, being separated from your parents and lover within the span of a night could leave one broken and traumatized
*** The carriage soon halted and we were dragged out with clothes soon placed to cover our faces, move! Came the voice of one of the beasts, and I was dragged along as soon as the chain moved, I didn't know where I was going to as I was blind folded , losing your sense of sight could increase one's sense of hearing, as I tried to pick up on ll? I heard one of them ask, thirty healthy women one them replied, and they are all human?, came the previous voice, yes sire, good take them into the cells , the lord's would be arriving in the arriving to pick them, make sure they are cleaned out and fed, I wouldn't want any of them fainting during the auction.
*** Auction!, were we to be auctioned, sold?, like goods, I had heard about humans being auctioned before but I never knew it was true, I loved my simple life back at the village , it wasn't all sunshine but at least I was still happy, and at least I had hope, but it seemed the very thing I had my freedom was going to the striped away from me, I moved immediately the chain moved and my feet soon felt the coldness of the marble and everything began to seem real.
