Chapter 22 - C22

Kakashi was quite pleased, but Yoruha asked him,

"Kakashi-sensei, do you really have time to teach me? You're still team seven's instructor, after all."

Kakashi waved his hand dismissively.

"Don't worry. I'll do my best to coordinate both schedules."

Yoruha didn't want to overthink how Kakashi planned to manage that.

"That's good then."

"Alright," Kakashi continued, "we've agreed then. Starting tomorrow, come here every night. I'll be waiting for you unless something urgent comes up. Otherwise, you must come every day. Can you promise that?"

Kakashi looked straight at Yoruha.

Yoruha nodded. "Of course. I have no problem with that."

After all, Yoruha didn't really have any pressing matters in his daily life—nor did he have many friends.

The two chatted for a while longer before parting ways.

On his way back home, Yoruha couldn't help but feel that everything seemed almost surreal.

He thought to himself,

"Kakashi is actually going to teach me… Is this what it means to bask in the light of Konoha's Number One Teacher?"

Yoruha figured that if not for Kakashi's friendship with Kimoto Tōichi, Kakashi would never have agreed to teach him.

But he was wrong.

He didn't realize just how deeply his own talent had shocked Kakashi.

The main reason Kakashi accepted command of Team 7 in the first place was because of the Third Hokage's request.

After all, Kakashi had once been the disciple of the Fourth Hokage, and even served as the captain of the Fourth's personal ANBU squad.

Back when Naruto's mother, Kushina Uzumaki, was pregnant with him, Kakashi had even been assigned as her bodyguard.

And since Naruto carried the Nine-Tails sealed within him, it made sense that the strongest jonin in Konoha—Kakashi—was chosen to watch over him.

In addition, Team 7 also included Uchiha Sasuke.

Although the Third Hokage had been indecisive during the Uchiha clan's downfall, which made him partially responsible for the massacre, he still wished to nurture Sasuke's potential.

And since Kakashi was adept at using the Sharingan, he was the ideal mentor.

So while Kakashi didn't dislike taking charge of Team 7, it wasn't exactly by his own choice.

Yoruha, however, was different.

Kakashi genuinely liked him.

Yoruha's talent reminded him of himself in his younger days—perhaps even surpassing it.

But unlike the younger Kakashi, Yoruha was far more composed.

Though Kakashi had never been outwardly arrogant, deep down he had always been proud.

After all, he truly was far stronger than most of his peers.

Graduating from the Ninja Academy at age five, becoming a chunin at six, and a jonin at twelve—such achievements were exceedingly rare even across the entire shinobi world.

Yet Kakashi felt that Yoruha's potential was even higher than his own had been.

It was no wonder he had such high expectations for him.

The more gifted a ninja was, the more disastrous it could be if they were not properly guided.

That was why Kakashi had humbled himself and personally asked Kimoto Tōichi for permission to train Yoruha.

Not only because he truly liked the boy, but also because he wanted to ensure Yoruha's path wouldn't go astray in the future.

After parting ways with Yoruha, Kakashi went to see Kimoto Tōichi.

When Tōichi saw Kakashi appear on his balcony, he sighed helplessly.

"Can't you ever use the front door?"

Leaning against the railing, Kakashi said,

"I've already made an arrangement with him. His talent is far greater than what you or I initially thought."

Tōichi was briefly stunned.

Then he smiled in understanding.

"I can't say I'm surprised."

Kakashi chuckled softly.

"I don't think you'll expect this part, though."

"Oh?"

Tōichi looked at him curiously.

Kakashi glanced out toward the forest and said,

"I tested his current strength a little."

"His performance surprised me. I'm afraid an ordinary chunin wouldn't stand a chance against him."

"Just this morning, he and you had only begun learning to control chakra. But when he sparred with me, he already used it with remarkable skill and precision."

"He already possesses the strength of a chunin—and quite a strong one at that."

"Right now, he only lacks offensive ninjutsu. Once he learns a few, he might even catch up to you soon."

Kakashi sighed.

Even now, he still hadn't fully recovered from his astonishment.

Yoruha's talent was simply too overwhelming—beyond anything he had expected.

Tōichi smiled faintly.

"That kid…"

Though it was unexpected, he couldn't help but feel proud.

After all, he truly regarded Yoruha as his personal disciple.

If he himself were more skilled in combat, he would never have handed Yoruha over to Kakashi in the first place.

Kakashi then said,

"There's one more thing you'll never guess."

"Yoruha possesses chakra of all elemental natures."

The warmth faded from Tōichi's smile in an instant.

"What!?"

"He has all elemental chakra?"

Tōichi was utterly shocked.

While Kakashi's earlier claim that Yoruha had the strength of a chunin had surprised him, it was at least imaginable.

But possessing chakra of all five elements—that was something entirely different.

Usually, someone with all chakra natures was born that way, through an inherited bloodline.

The rarity of such an individual even exceeded that of many bloodline limit users.

In Konoha, only Kakashi and the Third Hokage possessed all elemental chakra.

One could even say that having all chakra natures was itself akin to a bloodline limit.

Tōichi's eyes narrowed slightly.

"You didn't tell anyone about this, did you?"

Kakashi shook his head.

"I know how sensitive this is. Of course I didn't say a word."

Having all elemental chakra was an incredible gift—but precisely because it was so rare, it could easily draw unwanted attention.

Both Kakashi and Tōichi had once been members of the ANBU.

They knew all too well that Konoha's light had deep shadows beneath its roots.

And since Yoruha was just a civilian without a clan to protect him, who knew whether someone might try to capture him for human experimentation?

Tōichi let out a sigh of relief.

"When you train him, make sure he only uses two elemental ninjutsu at most in public. That should be enough."

Kakashi nodded.

"I'll make sure to remind him."

On this matter, Kakashi and Tōichi were completely in agreement:

until Yoruha had the power to protect himself, no one must learn that he possessed all elemental chakra.

---

Later that night, Yoruha returned home.

He lay down on his bed and sank his consciousness into his inner space.

Before long, a voice echoed in his mind:

> "You have been idle for one day. Chakra has doubled. Physical strength increased by one-tenth. Speed doubled."

When he came to, Yoruha felt a deep sense of comfort throughout his entire body.

Reflecting on the message, he smiled faintly.

"My chakra has grown at a terrifying rate. It's already almost on par with Kakashi's."

"And my speed doubled—could that be because I've roughly grasped the Body Flicker Technique?"

Ordinary Body Flicker was quite simple, both in theory and practice—it involved coating one's feet with chakra to greatly increase movement speed.

That's why learning it was only considered a D-rank difficulty—something even a genin could manage.
