Chapter 1 - Prologue

Reniel Faelan Aritzu-Nakamura Point Of View

The first thing I felt was heaviness.

Not pain. It was more like my heart was tired. Like this body had cried too many times before I arrived. My breathing was calm but my soul was hurting.

This was not my world.

When I opened my eyes, I saw a clean white ceiling. It was not from a palace. There were no golden walls. No royal fragrance. It smelled like medicine and soft perfume.

A modern hospital.

I was alive.

Someone was sitting beside the bed. A man in a dark coat. He was silent. His eyes were slightly down. The air felt cold around him. His presence was sharp and powerful.

Ren Nakamura.

My husband.

Memories that were not mine entered my mind. Memories of the original Reniel. His pain. His humiliation. How people looked down on him. How he begged to be loved by Ren.

So this body once suffered deeply.

But that person is gone.

Ren finally looked at me. His eyes were calm and emotionless.

I looked straight at him and spoke first.

"Ethan. I want a divorce."

The room went silent.

His expression changed. Confused. As if he did not understand what he heard.

I continued. My voice was firm and clear.

"From today onward, our marriage is over."

I was not angry. Not sad. Only finished.

For the first time, Ren Nakamura truly looked at me.

As if I was a stranger.

Ren did not speak.

His eyes stayed on me, quiet and unreadable. He looked as if he was trying to understand something that was not there before. His gaze was not angry. It was more like he was searching for the weak Reniel he used to know.

But that man no longer existed.

I slowly sat up on the bed. My body felt light, like I had nothing left to carry. No love. No hope. No desire for his warmth anymore.

"I will leave the Nakamura residence within the week," I said.

"Let us end this properly."

His brows moved slightly.

A small reaction, but enough to show he did not expect this.

He finally opened his mouth.

"Do you understand what you are saying"

His voice was low, steady, but there was a strange heaviness under it. Perhaps pride. Or disbelief. This man was used to control. Used to power. Used to people begging for him to stay.

But I did not bow.

I looked directly at him again.

"Yes. I do not need this marriage anymore."

That was all.

Simple truth.

The kind that cannot be debated.

Ren stayed silent for a long time.

The cold air between us was the only proof that our relationship once existed.

I slowly removed the blanket from my legs and stood up from the bed.

Ren said nothing.

He did not stop me.

He only followed me with his eyes.

The hospital room was quiet. Too quiet. Even the air felt heavy. I could feel his gaze on my back while I walked toward the wardrobe where my clothes were prepared.

This body remembered the past clearly.

This used to be the moment when Reniel would look at Ren for approval. For attention. For a small sign of love.

Now I did not look back even once.

I changed into a simple cream-colored coat. No shine. No attention. Only calm. When I finished, I faced the door.

I spoke one last line without turning to him.

"We will settle the divorce legally. There is nothing else to discuss."

Then I walked out.

The hallway was empty. Not a single bodyguard stopped me. Not a single assistant tried to speak. The air was cold but peaceful.

Some nurses saw me leave but they did not dare speak. They were used to seeing me run after Ethan with desperate tears and shaking voice.

But this time I walked like a man who did not need anyone.

My steps were light.

Free.

Behind me, the door of the private room did not close immediately.

Which meant Ren was still watching.

The Nakamura family car was waiting outside the hospital.

The driver, who had seen me cry and beg before, quickly opened the door for me. He looked nervous. As if expecting me to ask where Ren was. Or if he would come after me.

I did not ask.

I entered the car in silence.

The ride to the Nakamura residence was quiet. No music. No words. Only the reflection of a different man in the window. Not the Reniel who once chased love.

A prince reborn.

When the car stopped at the entrance, several household staff immediately lined up to greet me. Their eyes widened slightly. They were expecting a fragile, broken man.

I stepped out with calm posture and steady breathing.

Their whispers were silent but loud in their eyes.

Something is wrong.

Where is the crying Where is the pleading

I ignored all of them and walked inside the mansion.

The servants bowed lower than usual.

Not out of affection.

But out of instinct.

People always bow to real power.

Even if they do not understand it.

I headed straight to the grand staircase to return to the bedroom that once belonged to this body. No hesitation. No fear.

Every step I took made the silence in the mansion heavier.

He has changed.

He is not the same.

Even without words, the shift was undeniable.

I entered the master bedroom and quietly closed the door behind me.

The room was large, perfectly designed, and cold. It did not feel like a place for a husband. It felt like a place for display. Beautiful but empty.

Just like their marriage once was.

This body remembered how Reniel used to sit by the window and wait for Ren late at night. He used to email him, call him, beg him to come home early.

Pathetic.

I looked at the elegant king-size bed. Clean. Untouched on Ren's side. On Reniel's side, the sheets showed signs of restless sleep. The weight of loneliness still lingered in the air.

I did not sit on it.

I went straight to the walk-in closet.

The clothes inside were luxurious, but they were not mine. They belonged to the version of Reniel who wanted to match Ren's taste. Desperate. Overdecorated. Trying too hard.

I opened the bottom compartment.

Inside, I found a small black suitcase.

I pulled it out calmly and placed it on the bed.

No hesitation.

I began to pack.

Only the essentials. Only what I needed to walk away.

No sentimental items.

Not a single thing that Ren ever gave.

The old Reniel would have cried here.

Would have hugged each gift with shaking hands.

I only packed my future.

When I finished, I stood still for a moment.

I closed my eyes.

And for the first time in this world…

I felt peace.

A soft knock came from the bedroom door.

I did not answer.

The door slowly opened. It was Mrs. Hina, the head housekeeper. She had watched the original Reniel beg, cry and humiliate himself for years. She expected to see the same weak soul again.

She froze the moment her eyes met mine.

Not because I looked angry.

But because I looked calm.

Too calm.

"Young Master Reniel…" she said slowly, uncertain.

"Sir Ren is still at the hospital. Should I arrange a—"

"No," I said.

One word.

Sharp. Final.

Her mouth opened slightly. This was the first time I had ever cut someone off without fear.

"I am leaving the mansion within the week," I continued.

"Prepare the documents that belong to me. Do not inform Ren. I will speak to him myself."

She stared at me in silence.

It was the first time she looked at me…

Not with pity.

But with caution.

As if she finally realized I was no longer harmless.

I closed the suitcase and stood.

"Also," I added softly, "do not follow me."

She quickly bowed her head.

Not out of kindness.

But out of instinct.

I walked out of the room.

This time, I felt no weight on my chest.

Only freedom.

I walked down the long hallway quietly.

The mansion staff watched me from a distance. No one dared to speak. No one dared to stop me. Their eyes followed me like I was a different creature entirely.

As I reached the front entrance, I saw shadows move at the edge of the garden.

The paparazzi.

Whispers spread fast in this world. Reniel used to attract the media for all the wrong reasons. Scandal. Drama. A crying husband chasing after a cold CEO.

But today, I did not rush to hide.

I stepped outside calmly.

Flash. Flash. Flash.

Bright lights exploded around me.

But I did not look away.

I faced them with the quiet confidence of old royalty. No anger. No panic. Only a calm, unreadable expression.

That was enough to make the cameras drop for a second.

They expected a dramatic mess.

But I gave them silence.

And silence is more terrifying.

I walked past the flashing cameras without a single change in expression.

No fear. No rush. No embarrassment.

Just silence.

And silence is something the world is not used to.

They froze — unsure if they should even speak.

They were expecting the Reniel who used to cry and beg. The one who tried to explain himself. The one desperate for pity.

That man had already died.

I entered the waiting car and closed the door softly.

The world outside the window still flashed with cameras. But I did not once look back.

The car began to move.

And somewhere in the back of my mind…

A long, painful chapter finally ended.

At the Hospital — Ren Nakamura

A soft knock came at the door.

Ren was still sitting in silence — where I had left him.

The doctor entered slowly.

"Sir Ren… Young Master Reniel has already left the hospital."

For the first time in a long time…

Ren's eyes widened.

Just slightly.

"Left?" he repeated quietly.

The doctor nodded.

"Yes. He refused assistance."

Silence again.

But this silence was no longer peaceful.

It was heavy.

Foreign.

Something was wrong — deeply wrong.

And Ren could feel it.

I stayed quiet inside the car until we reached the small apartment I had chosen long ago.

It was simple and peaceful.

No servants.

No loud noise.

Only space to breathe.

When I stepped inside, I finally felt what freedom meant in this world.

I opened the window and looked outside. The city lights were endless. Cars moved like silver insects in the dark. I did not know this world, but I would learn. I had ruled an empire before. I could rule myself now.

I sat down and wrote my name on a clean sheet of paper.

Reniel Faelan Aritzu.

A name that once belonged to a weak man.

Now it belonged to me.

I took another paper and began to write a list.

1. File the divorce.

2. Close every joint account.

3. Move everything under my own name.

4. Live quietly.

That was all.

No revenge.

No drama.

Only peace.

Somewhere far from this small apartment, Ren Nakamura stood alone in the hospital parking lot. His phone was in his hand, but he did not know who to call.

For the first time in years, he had no control.

And that unfamiliar feeling started to burn slowly inside him.

Ren Nakamura Point Of View

The drive back to the mansion felt different tonight.

The gates opened for me like always, but the silence inside the house felt colder than before. No footsteps. No gentle voice. No lights waiting for me.

The servants avoided my eyes.

The air felt hollow.

I went to our bedroom without thinking. It was not ours anymore. It was only mine. Reniel's side of the closet was empty. His books were gone. His quiet presence was gone.

It was like he had never lived here at all.

I stood in the center of the room, unable to move for a moment.

My phone vibrated.

A message.

From Reniel.

It was short.

"Papers will arrive next week.

Please do not contact me again."

No anger.

No sadness.

No last words of love.

Only a clean ending.

I stared at the message for a long time. My chest felt heavy, but I had no name for the feeling. I did not know if it was confusion. Or anger. Or fear.

I typed a reply.

I erased it.

I typed again.

I erased it again.

In the end, I sent nothing.

Reniel Faelan Aritzu

I sat on the small couch of my new apartment. The world was quiet. The silence was mine now. And I finally breathed without pain inside my voice.

This was the beginning.

Not of freedom.

But of living.

Night came quietly.

For the first time in years… I slept without waiting for footsteps.

No fear.

No pretending.

No man walking past me like I was a ghost inside his own house.

But freedom was not peaceful.

Freedom was sharp.

It reminded me of everything I lost. Everything I had clung to. Every moment I had excused cruelty and called it love.

I stood by the small balcony of my apartment.

City lights below me.

And I whispered to myself — not a promise, but a decision.

Never again.

This life was not a second chance.

It was revenge without violence.

It was success without forgiveness.

It was my throne — rebuilt in silence.

Ren Nakamura

He could not sleep.

He sat alone in the darkness of his office at home — the very place where Reniel once brought coffee every night, hoping to be noticed.

He checked his phone again.

No new message.

The house felt painfully, impossibly empty.

And for the first time…

He wondered.

Had Reniel ever truly smiled beside him?

Or was it all a lie he never bothered to see?

He closed his eyes — and for one brief moment, he felt something suffocating.

A feeling he had never allowed himself to feel before.

Loss.

Real loss.

The kind that does not scream.

The kind that arrives too late.

Reniel Faelan Aritzu

The morning sun entered quietly through the window.

I sat at the small dining table.

A simple breakfast. Warm tea. Peace.

This world — this era — was cruel in its own way.

But it was nothing compared to the palace I once lived in, where a single wrong breath could cost a head.

This time, I would not bow.

Knock, knock.

I opened the door.

A delivery man stood there.

A long envelope.

The sender was unmistakable.

Nakamura Legal Division.

So fast.

He wanted to make it clean.

He wanted it to be over before I could even speak.

I smiled faintly.

Very well.

I sat down… opened the envelope… read every contract line by line.

Terms. Property. Silence clause. Permanent annulment.

There was no trace of love in it.

Only convenience.

I signed it.

Calmly.

Without hesitation.

And at that exact moment…

Ren Nakamura lost his husband forever.

Ren — same moment, different place

An email notification arrived on his laptop.

"Your spouse has signed and validated the divorce agreement."

He stared at the screen.

No anger.

No shock.

Just that same heavy, unfamiliar silence.

Yet suddenly — he could not breathe.

Reniel Faelan Aritzu

I sealed the signed papers.

Walked down the narrow hallway.

And dropped the envelope into the return box.

No pause.

No tremble.

No second thought.

There was nothing left to be sad about.

I stepped outside.

The wind was cold — but it carried no weight on my chest.

In the past, I lived for someone else.

In the palace — I bowed to survive.

In the Nakamura mansion — I loved to be accepted.

But this time…

I would live for myself.

Not to be loved.

Not to be chosen.

But to become untouchable.

I walked forward.

Without turning back.

And the world, for the first time —

felt like it finally belonged to me.

Ren Nakamura

He stood in the empty bedroom.

His hand touched the cold side of the bed where Reniel used to sleep.

No warmth.

No trace.

Not even a folded blanket left behind.

It was as if Reniel had never existed here at all.

He looked around slowly — at the life he thought he controlled.

And whispered something he had never admitted before.

"He is really gone."
