After eating, I wanted to look around and know more about the place where I was going to live at least for now.
So, I asked Xiaomei if it was okay to take a walk. She hesitated at first, thinking I still needed rest, but eventually nodded and followed me out of the room.
The air outside was fresh, carrying the faint scent of flowers. I looked around in awe.
There was a gallery with long, old-fashioned corridors that connected several rooms. It really felt like I was walking inside someone's mansion from a historical drama.
The house was huge - definitely not an ordinary double-storied house. It was like a maze of courtyards and corridors.
As we walked, I asked xiaomei, "Is there a garden somewhere in this house?"
She looked a little startled but nodded. "Yes, Madam. I will take you there."
On the way, we passed by a few servants.
They immediately stopped, bowed, and greeted me politely. I felt nervous I wasn't used to this kind of attention.
Then, two young girls walking nearby suddenly panicked when I looked at them.
They dropped to their knees and started crying.
I was stunned. "Wait! Why are you crying?" | moved toward them, trying to help. I reached out to pat one girl's shoulder, but she flinched and cried harder.
"Please, stand up," I said quickly, waving my hands awkwardly. "I'm not going to hurt you!"
They both looked terrified, and Xiaomei gave them a signal to calm down. After a moment, they stood up hesitantly.
"I'm sorry," I said softly. "I just wanted to greet you, not scare you."
They blinked in surprise - maybe because no one had spoken to them like that before.
We continued walking towards the garden. I tried to ignore the servants bowing as we passed; it felt so strange. After a few minutes, we reached the garden.
The sight took my breath away. The scent of flowers filled the air - roses, lilies, even ones I couldn't name. A gentle breeze brushed past, making the petals dance. My mood lifted a little.
But then, I caught sight of my reflection in the small pond nearby.
For a moment, everything went quiet.
It wasn't me. The face staring back felt like a stranger's - beautiful, yes, but unfamiliar.
A lump formed in my throat.
I felt... alone.
Even in my world, I was often alone - but there, at least, I had my family. Here, I had no one who truly knew me.
Xiaomei stood a few steps behind, giving me space. Then I heard a gentle voice.
"You look lost, little sister."
I turned around and saw Junhao walking toward me. The sunlight made him look softer than usual.
"I was just... taking a walk," I replied, trying to smile.
He smiled faintly, but his eyes were serious.
"You looked like someone whose whole world was taken away."
That hit harder than I expected.
I forced a small laugh. "Maybe you're right. I was just thinking."
"You can talk to me about it if you want," he said kindly.
"I can't," I whispered before I could stop myself. "You'll think I'm possessed."
His expression softer "No, I won't."
For a moment I hesitated than said quietly"I don't remember anything. Not my name, not who I am, not even my relationship with you."
Junhao froze, shock flashing in his eyes.
"I'm sorry," I added quickly, my voice trembling. "Maybe I shouldn't have said that."
He stayed silent for a long while, then finally spoke. His voice was low and careful.
"I already guessed," he said. "The way you act... it's different."
