"Luckily I ran fast. Otherwise, I'd be ashes by now."
Adam stood on a high mountain, staring at the massive crater carved by lightning. The sight left him both stunned and grateful.
If he'd been even a second slower, he might've been twenty years younger—literally burnt to dust.
"What the hell just happened?"
Moments ago, Adam had been heading toward Ladin's location. The air there had grown disturbingly chaotic, filled with violent magical energy.
By sheer luck, he'd noticed a glass orb on the ground. The swirling wind demon magic nearby was immediately absorbed into the pages of his spellbook. Trusting his instincts, Adam prioritized safety and retreated quickly.
"He's not the same profiteer he used to be," Adam muttered to himself.
Ladin could survive his own magic. Zenon, meanwhile, could strike a deal with a devil and live on by "cutting off his tail."
But what about the people of the Diamond Kingdom?
The Spade Kingdom's soldiers deserved death—but those innocent people didn't.
Meanwhile, Zenon Zogratis—who had barely escaped—staggered back into the Spade Kingdom. His battered appearance immediately drew the attention of Dante Zogratis and Vanica Zogratis.
"Brother! Did you encounter something interesting?" Vanica asked with a wicked grin.
Seeing Zenon in such a miserable state, her excitement only grew. Her thighs pressed together as her lips curled up. She wanted to go out and play too!
"Zenon, why are you like this? What happened?" Dante asked.
Zenon, now missing an arm, looked furious. He gritted his teeth and said coldly, "The plan must be accelerated."
"Unstable variables had appeared."
The Dark Triad began preparing to seize Yami, who wielded Dark Magic, and William, who controlled World Tree Magic—to open the gate to the underworld.
The invasion originally planned for six months later would now begin ahead of schedule.
The Spade Kingdom moved into overdrive.
"I'll kill him! I swear I'll kill him!"
Ladin floated alone above the massive sinkhole. Not only had he failed to obtain the power of the roaring wind demon, he'd also lost his crystal orb.
How was he supposed to gather the remaining evil spirits now? It was all that cold-faced bastard's fault.
"I'll kill you with my own hands!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the crater.
Ladin began moving toward the Spade Kingdom. Deep down, he knew the man wouldn't die that easily.
"Let's search a bit longer… maybe I can find the orb."
Still clinging to hope, Ladin assumed the man had acted recklessly and wouldn't have thrown the orb too far.
Unfortunately for him, he had completely overlooked one thing—Adam's absurd luck.
At that very moment, Adam was on his way back, grinning ear to ear.
He had struck gold!
Not only had he obtained the power of the Tiger Talisman, but he'd also absorbed the power of the Wind demon and acquired a glass orb infused with demonic energy.
A full haul!
Meanwhile, things were bustling in the Clover Kingdom.
To satisfy public curiosity—no, to ease the people's anxiety after the Eye of Midnight Sun invasion—the Wizard King organized a duel between the Magic Knight Captains.
It was structured like the Royal Knights Selection Test—a four-on-four crystal defense match.
The leader of the Aqua Deer squad, Rill, had been utterly lovestruck with Charmy's mature form lately. The man was so dazed he couldn't even focus on the match.
Still, the battle turned out quite entertaining.
Yami, trapped within the dream world, used Dark Magic: Dimension Slash to shatter all the crystals, ending the match in a draw.
Otherwise, William's team had been completely dominating.
Aside from Nozel, both Kaiser and Jack had overly one-dimensional fighting styles. Without the pressure of despair, they couldn't push beyond their limits.
Regardless, the nationwide broadcast of the match helped stabilize Clover's mood. But reconstruction was slow—labor shortages and funding issues left many regions desolate.
Not that any of this was Adam's concern.
He had arrived in Rain Town, one of Akatsuki's strongholds.
Rhya had sent him a letter through the Shadow Ninjas, saying something big had come up—and as the organization's leader, Adam needed to make the call himself.
The letter also mentioned that Patolli had discovered the descendants of leader of elf's and the princess—living quietly in Elysia for generations. He'd be delayed a few more days returning.
"The elves really are resilient… even their descendants survived," Adam murmured.
It was all thanks to sealing magic—without it, Licht's children wouldn't have made it.
"Lord Adam!"
Rhya's voice called out.
The ruins of Rain Town had yet to be rebuilt. Rhya and Vetto stood among the rubble, waiting for Adam's arrival.
"Rhya! Vetto!"
Adam approached, satisfied. One was a strategist, the other a powerhouse.
"Is the base built here?" he asked.
"The main base is in Sunny Village outside the city," Rhya explained. "This is just one of their old strongholds. While we were digging tunnels here, we discovered a group calling themselves the Demon Smashers. Members of the Magic Council were mixed in with them."
After all, this was still Clover Kingdom territory, and their organization was still young. Whether these people were enemies or potential allies was unclear—Adam had to decide.
"Demon Smashers? What's their purpose?" Adam asked.
"They seem to want to kill you," Vetto replied, scratching his head.
"Of course…" Adam muttered dryly.
The Shadow Ninjas mainly lurked among corrupt nobles—people whose sins were beyond redemption. Adam allowed them to live only temporarily.
But members of the Magic Council among the Demon Smashers were likely not such people.
Perhaps they were just fools blinded by pride. To the noble class of Clover, Adam was seen as a devil.
After all, every member of the Magic Council was noble—no commoners, no lower-class citizens.
"Disband their organization," Adam said coldly. His eyes narrowed. "I want to see what they were really planning."
"Let's go."
"Yes, sir!"
On a hill in Rain Town stood a small wooden house. Beneath it was a hidden basement—where the Demon Smashers gathered.
"It's decided," said their leader, Kabue. "We'll capture the dwarf and the girl with horns first. Once we have the hostages, the devil will have to surrender."
"Who are you trying to make surrender?"
Before anyone could react, Rhya and Adam appeared in the room using Spatial Magic.
The moment the Demon Smashers tried to cast spells, they were crushed to the ground under overwhelming magical pressure.
"What did you do to Bohr?" Daz shouted anxiously, pinned beneath Adam's aura.
"You can't even protect yourselves, and you dare talk about saving others? What a bunch of idiots," Rhya sneered.
Using Imitation Magic, Rhya had already learned everything from Bohr. These people weren't demon hunters at all—they were demon worshippers.
"Why do you think the devil would ever help you?" Adam asked coldly. "Devils don't care for the weak."
He stared down at Daz, disappointed. She truly believed in lies that would lead her to destruction.
The Spade Kingdom didn't accept the weak. If they went there, they'd just be fuel for the devils.
"Hahaha—!"
With a bang, as Daz's laughter turned manic, Adam kicked her unconscious.
"You'll pay for your sins," he said darkly, eyes glinting.
The remaining Demon Smashers trembled under his gaze, too terrified to move.
