Chapter 67 - Chapter 66: Licht Enters the Arena — The Battle Is Forced to End

"Is that... Charlotte?" The streets ahead were overrun with Solns, each one thick and writhing with magic.

At the center of it all stood Charlotte, her consciousness now taken over by an elf spirit, mercilessly attacking the citizens of the royal capital.

Adam glanced down at the Wizard King's body, wrapped in layers of dark magic. He needed to find someone trustworthy to protect it before he could focus on the rampaging elves.

"Big sister…"

Sol stood atop her clay giant, staring at Charlotte in shock and disbelief.

The eldest sister… was attacking them?

"Human, don't come any closer to me," Charlotte warned coldly. The once noble and composed captain now radiated a chilling beauty, her elf-possessed aura filled with deadly intent.

"Sol, protect this thing," Adam said, walking over. "Leave the rest to me."

Before Sol could even respond, he shoved the "black package" — the Wizard King's body — into her hands.

"D-Devil!"

Sol recoiled, trembling. She could never abandon her sister to this man.

"I won't follow a man's—"

Smack!

Sol froze, her eyes wide and cheeks burning red from the slap on her ass. Tears welled up as Adam shouted.

"She's possessed by a spirit! This isn't the time for emotions! Hide this hero and save your own damn life!"

The clay giant clutched the wrapped body tightly and turned away. Sol didn't speak — she just wiped her tears and silently controlled her golem to retreat.

"Human, you're cruel…" Charlotte hissed, whipping a storm of Solns toward Adam.

"Empty."

The razor-sharp vines tore through Adam's afterimage — his body flickering as if half-ethereal. Invincibility had never felt so hollow.

Adam lifted his hand, attempting to crush Charlotte's throat with telekinesis, rendering her unconscious.

"Transparent—!"

Charlotte gasped as invisible force wrapped around her neck. She broke free, retreating with incredible speed.

"Solns Abound!"

Countless vines exploded from the ground, thrashing like serpents, but none could touch him. Adam calmly walked through the chaos, his expression unreadable.

He tried again to seize her telekinetically — but she slipped away once more.

"Once I destroy all humans," the elf spirit hissed, "I'll find a way to erase you too!"

Realizing she couldn't win, Charlotte turned and fled.

Adam didn't chase her. He just floated there silently, staring into the distance. Then, with a sigh, he turned toward where Yami was fighting.

Damn it.

This wasn't as easy as crushing Licht's magic orb. That time, Licht had already been weakened by his battle with the Wizard King. But these newly awakened elves… their power was at full strength.

They couldn't harm Adam — but the feeling of helplessness burned inside him.

Across the Clover Kingdom, the reincarnated elves were descending toward the royal capital. Chaos was spreading fast. The Magic Knights' first duty was clear: protect the citizens.

Adam clenched his fists.

"Take advantage of the riot... and make the kingdom see who the real hero is."

His eyes hardened. It was time to act.

"Xiaoshui, can you hear me?"

Inside the Floating Demon Palace.

"Imitation Magic: Sword of Judgment — Nameless Slash!"

Rhya, who moments ago had been on the verge of self-destruction, was now revitalized by the light of reincarnation. With full elven power restored, he could cast multiple spells simultaneously.

"A magic duel? Heh. There's no way I'll lose," Xiaoshui sneered. As the embodiment of water, defeat wasn't in his vocabulary.

The black energy sword cleaved through the rising tide, clashing violently. Steam filled the air as the two powers collided.

"Roar!"

Xiaolan unleashed a torrent of flames, devouring the dark blade in a flash and counterattacking with a wave of searing fire. The surrounding sea boiled under the heat.

"Imitation Magic: Great Darkness!"

A black portal opened, absorbing the flames. Rhya darted through the void, emerging behind the water spirits — twin blades of light and dark slashing downward.

"It's over!" he shouted.

"Yeah?"

To his shock, Xiaoshui and Xiaolan's bodies, split in half, instantly reformed before his eyes.

"It's your end! Water God's Scepter!"

A trident formed from condensed magic, thrusting straight into Rhya's chest.

He teleported backward just in time, slipping into his space tunnel — but Xiaoshui didn't hesitate, diving in right after him.

"Space Strangulation."

Rhya smirked coldly. "Arrogant fool, you're finished—"

"Idiot. I am water."

The droplets falling from above solidified into countless miniature fists, slamming him from every direction.

"Ahhh!"

Rhya plummeted, coughing blood, only to be slammed upward again by Xiaolan's tail.

"Xiaolan, Stage Two!"

"ROAR!"

Their combined power surged. Xiaoshui's body expanded, wielding the Trident of Poseidon as he unleashed a monstrous wave from above.

Xiaolan's flames turned crimson, his eyes glowing blood-red as he exhaled the Fire Demon's Breath.

The dual onslaught of fire and water obliterated the battlefield.

Am I… going to die? Rhya thought, paralyzed under the crushing pressure.

But then—

Licht moved. Within the glowing white circle, his body instinctively reacted. He teleported, pulling Rhya out just as the explosion hit.

When fire met water, the impact created a massive burst of blinding steam.

Drawing the Demon-Slayer Sword, Licht slashed toward Xiaoshui and Xiaolan.

Xiaoshui swung his trident to block—but the moment they clashed, his magic began to drain away.

"What the—!?"

Before he could react, Licht kicked him aside with terrifying speed.

BANG!

Xiaoshui crashed into a wall. Licht vanished and reappeared above Xiaolan's head, cutting him down in a single strike.

BOOM!

Xiaolan hit the water hard, sending waves rippling across the palace. Xiaoshui retaliated with a massive geyser—

—but Licht raised the Demon-Slayer Sword once more.

Sizzle—

Every drop of water was absorbed into the blade.

"Damn it! Now you've pissed me off!" Xiaoshui shouted, preparing his ultimate technique—when Adam's voice echoed in his mind.

"Can you hear me?"

"Yeah, I hear you," Xiaoshui growled. "What's going on?"

"Change of plans. The entire kingdom's under attack. We need to save civilians first."

"What?!" Xiaoshui blinked. "But if we take out the boss, that solves everything!"

"Not this time. Retreat."

"...Fine. Xiao Lan, we're leaving!"

The two elemental beasts turned to flee. For now, they would obey Adam's order.

Licht watched them go, his expression blank—like someone still half-asleep.

"Imitation Magic: Healing Flower Basket."

Rhya cast recovery magic on himself, panting heavily. He knew he couldn't stop those two now. All he could do was wait for Patolli to return—and complete their master plan.

Meanwhile, in the Royal Capital...

Taking advantage of the chaos, the prisoners in the Royal Capital Prison had broken free.

Among them were Heath, the criminal who once tried to steal Yuno's grimoire, and Gueldre, the treacherous former captain of the Purple Orcas.

Both now roamed free—adding to the disaster.

The kingdom was under siege from all sides. Elves had taken over Magic Knights, traitors roamed the streets, and despair filled the air.

Yet even in the darkest hour, the surviving Magic Knights stood firm.

Even Fuegoleon Vermillion, who had been in a coma for half a year, awoke—his body surrounded by the burning aura of the Fire Spirit, Salamander.

"Where's Captain Yami?" he asked, eyes blazing.
