Chapter 74 - Conversation in the Courtyard

The Master's Residence.

In the courtyard at night.

The Hashira were gathered.

Kyojuro Rengoku, Shinobu Kocho, Gyomei Himejima... all the Hashira were present.

Even Tanjiro, dragging his injured body, had come with Nezuko and Shinobu...

Meanwhile, Kagaya Ubuyashiki rested inside the mansion, waiting.

A short while ago, a Kasugai crow had delivered the news that Lexon would soon return.

After the Infinity Castle collapsed, the place where Lexon and Muzan appeared was not at the location of the Mugen Train, so he needed to rush back to headquarters from elsewhere.

Such a gathering was not only due to concern for Lexon's safety, but also because his escape from the demons' clutches would surely bring a great deal of intelligence related to them.

"Why isn't he back yet?" Tanjiro gazed into the dim night, somewhat worried.

"Since there was news, it means he's alright," Shinobu comforted him. "Let's just wait a little longer, Tanjiro."

"Mhm," Nezuko nodded beside him, rubbing against her brother.

"Nezuko..." Tanjiro stroked Nezuko's head and continued to wait patiently.

Another period of time passed, but Lexon's figure still had not appeared.

The night grew darker, and it seemed the only light left was the candlelight emanating from within the courtyard.

"Hah, don't tell me he's dead," Obanai Iguro said indifferently, leaning against a large tree.

"How could you say that!" Tanjiro shouted at him loudly. "Even a Hashira can't just say things like that!"

He didn't care if the Hashira were his superiors or commanders; when he encountered bad behavior, he spoke his mind directly.

"You little brat..." Obanai Iguro, somewhat displeased by a subordinate's disrespect towards a Hashira, straightened up, intending to do something.

"Mr. Iguro..." Shinobu stood in front of Tanjiro, her cool gaze fixed on Obanai Iguro. Slightly icy words escaped her cherry-colored lips, "Could you please not make sarcastic remarks?"

"Kocho..." Iguro hadn't expected Shinobu to stand up for him. He paused his movements and wagged his finger, saying, "Lexon is a demon... a demon... It's not good to trust him too much..."

"I have my own judgment about whether it's good or not," Shinobu responded expressionlessly. "If he had malicious intent, I wouldn't have survived."

"Kocho is right! He saved me too! He saved all the passengers on the Mugen Train!" Although Kyojuro Rengoku's arm was in a cast and his body was wrapped in bandages, he spoke to Iguro with a face full of spirit.

"Hah, who knows what his motives are," Obanai Iguro retorted. "Aside from you two, none of the Hashira present here trust him..."

He looked towards Sanemi.

In his view, Sanemi had zero tolerance for demons.

Furthermore, on the day of the Hashira meeting, Sanemi had a fierce conflict with Lexon and was displeased with him; he should support him.

However, Iguro was surprised when, under his gaze, the other man turned his head away, avoiding his eyes and saying nothing.

Huh? When did Sanemi change his attitude?

He was a little confused.

He then looked at Gyomei Himejima, only to see him with his palms together, two lines of tears streaming down his face as he uttered, "Namu Amida Butsu."

He looked at Tengen Uzui.

Tengen Uzui pinched his chin with one hand, raised his head arrogantly, and said with praise, "I have to say, what he did was truly flamboyant!"

He looked at Muichiro Tokito.

However, Muichiro was just staring blankly at the candlelight.

He looked at Giyu Tomioka.

Alright, no need to look. That guy Tomioka was already on the other side to begin with.

Before he could even turn his gaze to Mitsuri Kanroji, the young girl's sweet voice came through, "Mr. Iguro, it's not right for you to talk like that!"

Even the girl he liked said so. Instantly, Obanai Iguro's body felt as if it had been struck by lightning.

Among the original nine Hashira, was he the only one left in the "anti-Lexon" camp?

What on earth was going on?

What happened to the spirit of shared animosity from the time of the trial?

"Obanai," Kagaya Ubuyashiki's voice sounded. Everyone saw him walk out from the main hall, supported by his wife.

"Greetings, Master," the crowd immediately knelt on one knee.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki nodded slightly, then continued to speak to Iguro, "Don't be too hard on others."

"Yes, Master." Faced with the Master's reprimand, Obanai Iguro could only bow his head and respond obediently.

"Mm."

Kagaya Ubuyashiki acknowledged.

He's still not here...

Then, a trace of worry also surfaced in his heart.

He was worried that Lexon had not yet arrived.

The next moment, the candlelight in the courtyard suddenly flickered.

In the blink of an eye, a figure abruptly appeared in the courtyard.

"Lexon!" Tanjiro immediately caught Lexon's scent and cried out in pleasant surprise.

Everyone looked at the man who had appeared in the courtyard, dressed in loose robes with two pots hanging from his waist, his face rather handsome.

"It's been a while, Tanjiro," Lexon replied with a smile.

"Lexon!" Rengoku strode forward and said spiritedly, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Lexon replied.

"Mr. Lexon, it's wonderful that you're alright," Shinobu showed a gentle smile, displaying her happiness.

Lexon glanced at her and couldn't help but feel that her smile had become a little less stiff.

Did she figure things out while on missions with Nezuko?

Lexon then nodded at her in response.

"I heard someone talking bad about me from far away," Lexon suddenly looked at Obanai Iguro.

Iguro immediately whipped his head away.

Lexon didn't bother much with it; after all, he had just been thrown into a tree by him last time.

Of course, if there was a chance later, he might just do it again.

Of course, it couldn't possibly be because he spoke ill of me. Lexon is not a vengeful person.

"It's good that you've returned safely," Kagaya said gently, a smile on his lips.

Then, he asked, "Did you run into any trouble on your way back?"

"Yes, a trivial matter," Lexon looked at Kagaya Ubuyashiki and said thoughtfully.

A small incident did indeed occur on the way back with Muzan. He had run into the demonized Youmei.

Lexon originally thought she was long gone. After all, when Muzan ordered the demons to attack, she was still there playing with a head.

How could Muzan tolerate that?

Lexon felt that with Muzan's extremely self-centered personality, he would have killed the disobedient Youmei directly.

Unexpectedly, she had survived.

She even tried to take Lexon's head when she encountered him on the road.

And now, one of the pots on his waist was for her.

Lexon didn't plan on killing her. At least she had explained many things about the Main God's Space to him. He would take her back and see if she could be saved.

Otherwise, he could leave it to that Rara to make a decision.

"I see," Kagaya nodded and then continued to ask, "Then, can you tell us what happened after you were transported away by the Blood Demon Art?"

As soon as Kagaya asked this question, everyone present perked up their ears, all extremely curious about what he had encountered after being transported and how he had managed to escape.
