Multiple gunshots rang through the forest. A young man, his face fully covered in a ghillie suit, was in his second or third year of high school. He wore his handmade ghillie suit while holding his customized M14 EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle). The scope he chose was a Leupold M3A with a sunshade, and for a bipod, he used a Harris 1A2-BR bipod. Lastly, a Knight Armament suppressor was attached to the barrel.
"Why do I have to be an unwilling fucking participant in this shitshow?"
He spoke in English, whispering to himself while stealthily positioning himself so as not to get caught and shot. He grabbed his rangefinder from his pouch.
Looking through the chaotic sight, he saw a rather messy makeshift camp. He put the rangefinder to his left eye and then lowered it.
"900 meters," he whispered as he adjusted the scope range. After putting the rangefinder back in the pouch, he pulled the charging handle of the M14 slowly.
"The effective range of 7.62 NATO is 600 to 900 meters, and I probably have a good chance to kill someone in that camp with this DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) if I make the right adjustments with this scope," he thought as he readied the M14 toward the camp, looking at it through the scope's crosshair while identifying his target.
Then he finally sees his target: a teen in his second or third year of high school. The boy is wearing a mix of military and civilian clothes as he orders his classmate while he is in the middle of pulling the lever near the trigger of an M14, making it ready to fire. He adjusts the wind elevation, then aligns the crosshair of the scope as he pulls the trigger.

A single suppressed shot travels through the forest, hitting his target in the neck and causing a large burst of blood as he drops to the ground. People around him quickly come to his aid, trying to stop the bleeding, while others alertly grab their weapons and radio others to inform them about what happened.
"There's nothing you can do for him; he's already dead."
He thought this without feeling guilt for killing a person and ending someone's life as he quietly withdrew from the scene with caution and alertness due to the incoming search by hostile forces, with no intention of keeping him alive.
As he attempted to escape from enemy territory while avoiding patrols, traps rigged with explosives, and landmines hidden in the ground, he carefully navigated the hostile environment, trying to stay alive and ensuring that he did not step into any traps laced with bombs.
As he was about to exit enemy territory, he heard a voice not far away. Quick to hide in the bushes, he saw two figures approaching his position. He tried to remain still to avoid getting caught while quietly listening to the conversation between the two individuals, both of whom were wearing a mix of outdoor clothes with combat vests and drop leg holsters. The leading person held a SIG MCX assault rifle in a 5.56 configuration, using a 14.5-inch barrel with an Eotech EXPS3-0 holographic sight; attached to the underbarrel was a Magpul vertical grip. Behind him, his partner was holding a G95A1 assault rifle with a 16-inch barrel, equipped with a Trijicon red dot reflex sight and a Surefire X400 Ultra WeaponLight attached to the underbarrel.
"Just who the hell is that guy, shooting from far away while managing to avoid the traps we placed in this goddamn forest?"
"There's no way that guy is just an amateur shooter who trained for two weeks like the rest of us. This kind of thing can only be pulled off by a well-trained marksman."
"What do you mean?"
"There's a chance that another class has a Gaijin attending their school who volunteered to join the military before coming to our country. This means the chances of us surviving this ordeal have been lowered. We've already been fucked by the sniper, but dear God, I hope there aren't any more people like him."
"Oh shit, this is bad. The last thing we want is for real fucking soldiers to be our enemies trying to kill us in different ways."
"Just stay alert, man, and don't trust what you can see. There's a chance that guy is wearing some type of camouflage; at least we need to avoid getting killed from behind."
As the two who didn't notice him walked past, he stayed in his hiding spot for half an hour. He got out of his hiding place and resumed his way north, where his hiding spot was located. As he walked through the forest, he covered his tracks, making sure no one was following him.
----3 hours later-----
It took him three hours of walking to reach his hiding spot. He cautiously walked out of the bushes, leading him to his own hiding place. He smiled a bit, knowing he was near his safe haven.
As he readied his M14 and slowly approached his safe house, he saw a metal fence. He looked behind it, thinking he had finally reached his base, but it wasn't what he expected.
What he really saw was a desolate city; it looked like Los Angeles, one of the cities in the United States, abandoned. Behind the fence was an abandoned playground. He was confused by what he was seeing.
"What the f-"
He didn't even finish his words when suddenly a bright light blinded him as he screamed in agony.
"Ahh! Fuuck!"
Then his entire body felt like it was burning alive, and alongside him, the surrounding areas started to burn as well, with a large mushroom cloud forming from the center of the city.
Boom!
A massive shockwave hit the entire city, destroying what remained that had not yet been affected by the blast area. As the shockwave traveled throughout the city, it finally reached the playground.
"Ahhhh!"
Boom!
His body burst apart, leaving only his skeleton, thus ending his life in the most painful way imaginable.
