Chapter 31 - Return to College

Upon entering the research lab, Adrian Vale saw Dr. Harold Bennett busy at work.

"Doctor Bennett!"

"Hmm? You finally came out? I told you, you need to rein in your adjutant! I tried to find you several times, but he kept chasing me away, and his attitude was terrible!"

"Uh, Doctor Bennett, it's not his fault. I instructed him not to let anyone disturb my secluded training. It's my mistake!"

"You, then, how was it? Any results?"

If it were anyone else, secluded for a month to research nuclear fusion, Dr. Harold Bennett would never ask if they had any results.

Isn't that ridiculous? So many top scientists in humanity haven't been able to achieve results in over a hundred years, and you alone can do it in a month?

Dr. Harold Bennett would definitely scoff at that.

But when it came to Adrian, Dr. Harold Bennett had endless expectations, after all, this young man was too much of a prodigy.

"Yes, it wasn't a wasted month of hard work. Here!"

"What?"

Although Dr. Harold Bennett had endless expectations for Adrian, he couldn't help but twitch his mouth as he looked at the storage card Adrian handed him.

He was too familiar with Adrian's action of handing over a storage card; this was the fifth time. As soon as this action appeared, it definitely meant the birth of a scientific research achievement that would shock the Federation.

Did he really?

Tremblingly, he took the storage card, then carefully inserted it into the optical computer. Dr. Harold Bennett's hand was even shaking slightly.

Nuclear fusion, he understood too well what that represented.

After reading the data on the storage card, Dr. Harold Bennett began to examine it seriously.

Five minutes later, Dr. Harold Bennett hadn't moved a muscle, like an old monk in meditation.

Half an hour later, it was still the same, until more than an hour passed.

"So that's it, so that's it! Humanity has always focused on the wrong key points to overcome. No wonder it has never succeeded."

After Dr. Harold Bennett finished reading the core part of the technology, his emotions were slightly out of control.

After all, Dr. Harold Bennett's mentor had spent his entire life researching nuclear fusion without any breakthroughs. Therefore, the breakthrough in nuclear fusion technology brought endless emotions to Dr. Harold Bennett.

"Uh, Doctor Bennett, please control your emotions first. Your health is important!"

"Alright, don't worry about me. Go do your thing. I'll follow up on the rest."

"Okay, I'll be leaving then! Please take care of yourself!"

To be honest, Adrian was genuinely worried about Dr. Harold Bennett. After all, he was old, and such large emotional fluctuations were bad for his health.

However, fortunately, he had given him the gene enhancement serum technology before. Once it was successfully manufactured, there would be no need to worry. By then, Dr. Harold Bennett should directly return to his middle-aged state.

But just as Adrian walked out of the research lab, he heard Dr. Harold Bennett's roar from behind.

"Hello, is this Admiral Sterling?"

"It's me, Doctor Bennett. Send money, and send people!"

Then, there was no 'then.' The call had already been hung up, leaving Adrian stunned and feeling sympathetic towards his future father-in-law.

A dignified Federation military god, just getting a call that started with 'send money, send people,' and then immediately hung up, was truly pathetic.

At this moment, inside the Martian base headquarters not far away, Admiral Marcus Sterling held his communicator, smiling wryly with a hint of helplessness. Doctor Bennett truly gave him no face, as usual.

Sigh, wait. Doctor Bennett wants money and people again? Could it be that Adrian has come out of seclusion? Has the nuclear fusion technology been sorted out?

Dean Malcolm Reid has also been urging me for a month now. I'll go check it out and mention the academy matters to him at the same time.

Having figured things out, Marcus Sterling immediately left his office, preparing to head to the 101st Combined Fleet's station.

On the other side, Adrian also returned to his office. As soon as he stepped in, he saw Lena Sterling, her eyes holding a hint of resentment.

"Uh, wife, your expression seems a little off!"

"Was sleeping for a month comfortable?"

"I was in seclusion doing scientific research. How can you say I slept for a month?"

"You still have the nerve to say that? If I hadn't confirmed every day that you were fine and that you ate all the food I sent, I would have truly thought you'd become a vegetable."

As she spoke, a hint of grievance appeared on Lena's face.

Speaking of that month, Lena had indeed gone through a lot of hardship. Although she could see Adrian every day, they hadn't exchanged a single word. Therefore, every time Lena came, Adrian was sleeping—oh, no, he was training in the system's virtual space.

Not only did she worry every day and check Adrian's body for any issues, but she also followed Adrian's instructions to block Dr. Harold Bennett and others from entering, even getting scolded for half an hour by an enraged Dr. Harold Bennett pointing at her nose.

"You've worked hard!"

Adrian walked directly up to Lena, gently embracing her and whispering in her ear.

Just two words, and all of Lena's hardships from the past month vanished into thin air. It had to be said, this girl was actually very easy to satisfy.

"Cough, cough... cough."

But just at this warm moment, a series of coughs came from the office doorway!

Startled, the two immediately separated.

"Uh, Commander!"

Adrian turned and saw Admiral Marcus Sterling standing at the office doorway. His first reaction was to stand at attention and salute.

However, Lena on the side glared at Marcus Sterling with murderous eyes.

Our rare moment of warmth after a month was completely ruined by you!

Marcus Sterling, being glared at by Lena, was a bit speechless.

I'm your father, for goodness sake. Do you have to glare at me like that?

"Cough, cough... I'll just say a few words and then leave. Adrian, the Interstellar Military Academy has invited you back to give a lecture to the Command Department. Prepare yourself and depart today! Hmm, I also need to go to the research lab to find Doctor Bennett. You two continue, just remember to lock the door next time!"

After speaking, Marcus Sterling exited the office, closing the door behind him.

Well, with someone's interruption, the atmosphere they had just had was gone.

"You prepare yourself. I'll go arrange the Uranus's departure preparations first."

"Uh, we don't need to deploy the flagship to go to the moon, do we?"

"You're returning in glory, so of course, we need to deploy the Uranus!"

"Alright, whatever you say, wife!"

A gigantic, silver-white battleship sailed out of the spaceport. Its streamlined hull, distinct from any current Federation battleship design, was noble and elegant! Anyone who saw it once could never forget it. This was Adrian Vale's personal vessel, the battleship Uranus.

Three days later, at the Lunar Interstellar Military Academy, all instructors and students from the Command Department were gathered at the academy's spaceport.

At this moment, the students were a bit curious, as the instructors had only informed them that someone would be coming today to give a lecture to the Command Department, and everyone was to gather at the spaceport to welcome them.

Who could it be? To warrant such a grand reception from the academy? Most of the students speculated it was Admiral Marcus Sterling, as currently, only Admiral Marcus Sterling seemed qualified to be invited by the academy to give a Command Department lecture and receive such a grand welcome.

"Look! What kind of battleship is that?"

As a student pointed towards the port and shouted loudly, other students and instructors, and even Dean Malcolm Reid, looked over, then froze.

What kind of battleship is this? I don't recognize it?

A gigantic, all-silver battleship was slowly approaching the spaceport. Its streamlined hull, distinct from any current Federation battleship design, made it unforgettable to anyone who saw it once.

When the battleship got close enough, everyone finally saw the name inscribed on its hull.

URANUS, the God of the Sky?

That's right, this was Adrian Vale's personal vessel, the battleship Uranus.
