Chapter 23 - Breakthrough

Inside the officer's lounge aboard the flagship of the 101st Task Force.

Marshal Adams and Ed Hart were seated, with their respective personnel standing behind them.

Marshal Adams, at that moment, was busy communicating with and directing his adjutant.

"Commander, the rogue fleet has begun to move and is heading towards the human fleet. What should we do?"

"You just keep control of the remaining fleet and observe from there. Commander Adrian Vale said he would deal with those warships."

"This? Alright!"

"Marshal Adams, you don't seem worried at all that our fleet might lose."

"Of course, I've confirmed Commander Adrian Vale's eyes; he's definitely not an ordinary person. Moreover, although the rebel army has over 300 warships, their ship types are mixed, and there's no unified command. I believe Commander Adrian Vale won't have to pay a great price to defeat them."

"That's truly rare; you trust us humans so much."

"Haha, I've never been wrong about people. Let's just chat here for a while and listen to my adjutant's live battlefield broadcast!"

Ahead and to the side of the 101st Task Force's advance, eleven mechs were moving at maximum speed, constantly weaving through a complex asteroid field.

As for the fighter jets chasing behind, they had long been shaken off to who knows where. After all, these eleven mechs were piloted by at least elite-level mecha pilots, and shaking off a few fighter jets in such a complex environment was a trivial matter.

"Alright, you can loosen your grip a bit; we've already shaken them off."

Adrian Vale looked at Lena Sterling, who was straddling his lap and hugging him, and spoke.

Although Adrian admitted that being hugged by a hot-bodied girl like this was indeed very comfortable, the posture was a bit embarrassing after all.

"You really don't remember what you said to me 11 years ago?"

Lena Sterling's voice came from beside his ear, and Adrian was stunned.

Did Lena and he know each other before? 11 years ago?

Adrian gave a wry smile; he indeed had no memory. After Adrian transmigrated, he didn't inherit the memories of the original body's owner like in novels.

This made Adrian recall when he first transmigrated ten years ago. In a moment of urgency, he told everyone he had amnesia and couldn't remember anything. Even though doctors found nothing wrong, Adrian never changed his story, insisting he had amnesia, which allowed him to get by.

11 years ago, that was the year before he transmigrated. No wonder he had no memory of Lena.

"Sorry, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Perhaps you don't know, but ten years ago I accidentally injured my head and completely lost my memory. So, I have no memory of anything before I was nine years old!"

"Whoosh! Lena suddenly lifted her head from Adrian's shoulder, her eyes wide with disbelief as she stared at Adrian!"

"Amnesia?"

"Yes!"

"So that means you weren't deliberately pretending not to know me because of that vixen from the military academy?"

"Uh, regarding my amnesia, I believe your father should know about it. Why don't you ask him? And from what you're saying, it seems we knew each other when we were young?"

Adrian directly avoided the word "vixen" that Lena mentioned. Being so intelligent, he naturally knew Lena was referring to Adeline Hart.

But the key was, what was his relationship with Lena when they were children? What did he say that she remembered until now?

Could it be that the original owner of this body had an early romance at the age of eight?

At the same moment, Lena Sterling was actually quite bewildered. Amnesia? Had she been misunderstanding all this time?

No, she had to go back and confirm this with that scoundrel father.

"We've arrived!"

Lena, who was lost in thought, heard Adrian's words and turned to look ahead of the mech.

Sure enough, the 101st Task Force could already be seen, flying in from the right side, which should allow them to rendezvous perfectly.

Of course, with the eleven elite mecha pilots, including Adrian, they would definitely not miss the rendezvous time, and all returned to the warships smoothly.

"Alright, I'm going to open the cockpit. Although being hugged by you is comfortable, be mindful of the impression; there are quite a few people in the hangar."

"You haven't confirmed whether what you said is true or false. I'll ask when we get back this time."

Lena huffed and then released her arms from around Adrian, standing up.

However, Adrian noticed that Lena's face was flushed under her helmet. This was the first time Adrian had seen it, and if it weren't for the wrong timing, he would have really wanted to snap a photo.

After disembarking, Adrian didn't bother changing his clothes and ran directly to the bridge in his pilot suit. Lena immediately followed him.

"Report the situation!"

Adrian shouted as soon as he entered the bridge, quickly heading to his seat.

"Reporting, we will enter firing range in 1 minute."

"Good, notify all battlecruisers. The primary targets are the enemy's two battlecruisers."

"Yes!"

Lena was now standing beside Adrian, taking over from the tactical officer and relaying Adrian's orders.

Personal matters were personal matters; she could figure them out later. But for now, she would fulfill her duties as an adjutant!

Adrian glanced at Lena without saying anything and quickly activated the captain's dedicated virtual tactical panel.

The two sides continued to approach each other, quickly reaching the red line of firing range.

"Commence firing!"

Tens of seconds later, seeing that they had entered firing range, Adrian gave the order without hesitation.

At the same time, Ochus's rebel fleet also began its attack.

The difference was that the 101st Task Force's design was very targeted; the nine battlecruisers in the front directly targeted the two enemy battlecruisers.

However, Ochus's rebel fleet acted independently, and Adrian immediately realized that the rebels were likely being commanded by an amateur.

Indeed, Adrian was completely correct. The one currently commanding the rebel fleet was a confidant of the First Prince, who was usually better at schemes and intrigues than anyone else, but when it came to fleet command, he was truly worse than Doron, who only knew theoretical warfare.

Due to Ochus's rebel fleet having only two main battleships, their firepower was severely insufficient. After all, battlecruisers were tough and heavily armored, and general escort ships and destroyers truly had little effect on them. At most, they could be damaged, but sinking them quickly was a pipe dream.

Both sides advanced, enduring each other's artillery fire. After just three rounds of shelling, the two battlecruisers at the front of the rebel formation were completely destroyed.

Immediately, the 101st Task Force, like a sharp dagger, pierced through the middle of Ochus's rebel fleet formation.

At this point, Ochus's rebel fleet had lost 2 battlecruisers, 5 cruisers, 18 destroyers, 2 aircraft carriers, and 35 frigates.

The 101st Task Force, on the other hand, had lost 1 cruiser, 1 destroyer, and 3 frigates.

Several of the foremost battlecruisers had sustained minor damage, but it did not affect subsequent combat.

"Commander, we have penetrated the enemy formation."

"Good, have the fleet spread out to their left and right rear and make a U-turn."

"Yes!"

At this moment, there was some chaos within the rebel forces. The commander was dead, the capital ships were gone, and now only these crew members remained. In fact, on many warships, the rebel personnel had forcibly seized control after killing the captains.

Therefore, the entire rebel force currently had no idea what to do. However, while the rebels were hesitating, the 101st Task Force had already dispersed to the left and right and made a U-turn, deploying respectively to the rebels' left rear and right rear, forming a semi-circular encirclement.

When the rebels reacted and tried to counterattack, unfortunately, it was too late. Their current formation could only be unilaterally defeated by the 101st Task Force.

"What a brilliant tactic of central breakthrough and rear deployment! Excellent! It completely exploited the fatal weakness of the rebel army having too few capital ships."

In the lounge, Marshal Adams praised without reservation.
