After letting go of Barry, Sandy asked with a bit of confusion, "Is this the door to the dock?"
Before them stood a massive stone pillar gate that stretched several hundred meters long.
Luffy shaded his eyes with his hand. "It's huge! I thought it was a wall—so it's actually a door!"
Sandy sighed. "This is way too excessive. It's just shipbuilding. Do you really need something this dramatic?"
Iceburg turned to them. "Make sure you guard the money. There shouldn't be thieves inside, but it's still best to stay cautious."
"Thanks for the reminder," Usopp replied.
Seeing Sandy and Luffy walk inside first, Usopp quickly yelled, "Sandy! Luffy! Protect me, okay?"
Luffy and Sandy answered at the same time, "Don't worry, leave it to us."
Once they stepped inside, the shipbuilding facilities were astonishing—like walking into a village built for Giants. Everything was massive.
"It's huge!" Luffy said, laughing. "They call it a shipyard, but seeing it up close is totally different!"
Iceburg explained, "Dock Number One gathers the company's main workforce and is responsible for accepting the highest-end commissions."
Sandy glanced around. "Super professional. A normal person wouldn't even know where to start. Hey Luffy, how heavy do you think this door is?"
"Wouldn't you know if you tried lifting it?" Luffy said.
Barry snapped, "What nonsense are you idiots talking about?! This door weighs several tons! Don't get stupid ideas!"
Ignoring him, Sandy asked again, "Are you sure you don't want to be our shipwright? We have lots of money."
"Really?" Barry brightened instantly. "Then… could you spare a little for me? Not much, just ten percent…"
Thump!
Lucci hit Barry on the head again. "Don't use other people's money to pay off your debts."
Kalifa added, "If you'd just work hard and stop gambling, you'd pay them off eventually."
Sandy instantly looked away. "Ah, so he's a gambler. My bad."
His enthusiasm from earlier evaporated instantly. Reality truly was cruel.
As they continued inside, energetic shipwrights began greeting Iceburg.
"Oh, Iceburg!"
"Hey, the boss is here!"
"Boss, please check the outer plating we finished!"
Sandy scoffed. "Tch. Bootlickers. Do you think a few greetings will make your boss raise your salaries?"
"What are you talking about, asshole?!"
"You must be here to fix a ship!"
"Don't insult Boss Iceburg!"
Sandy taunted back, "Just do your damn jobs properly and watch your fingers! If you keep slacking off, your boss will deduct your salary instead of raising it!"
Suddenly—
Wham! A high-heeled kick flew toward Sandy.
He reacted instantly and caught the leg with one hand. Kalifa glared at him.
"Oh?" Sandy smirked. "Miss Kalifa, what do you think you're doing?"
"You're not allowed to slander Iceburg! Let go of my leg!"
Sandy's hand glided lightly along her leg before he released her. Her face instantly turned red.
Iceburg looked over. "What's the matter?"
"N-Nothing!" Kalifa snapped.
Sandy grinned. "Welcome to kick me again~"
Kalifa almost combusted on the spot.
As they went deeper, the shipyard's divisions grew more complex, each responsible for different tasks. Usopp was immediately drawn to the cannon production area and separated from the others.
Of course, the Franky Family had already set up an ambush. While Usopp was admiring the cannons, he was kidnapped—along with the money.
Sandy felt a stab of guilt.
A jade must be polished to shine… Hang in there, Usopp.
Soon, Kaku returned.
Barry asked, "Kaku, where were you?"
"I checked the extent of the ship's damage."
Nami immediately asked, "You're the one we met earlier! Did you finish checking?"
"I did." Kaku greeted Iceburg. "Iceburg, you're here too."
Iceburg nodded. "I've heard the situation. What's the condition?"
Kaku replied, "Better to tell them directly. Where are the others?"
When Luffy returned from sightseeing, he asked, "Where's Usopp?"
Nami replied, "He was nearby a moment ago…"
At that moment, a worker approached holding two boxes. "Are these yours?"
Nami nodded. "Yes, Usopp was holding them earlier. Seriously, where did he run off to? Leaving such important things behind…"
The worker shrugged and returned to his job.
Sandy knew the boxes had been swapped.
If Franky didn't steal this money, would the Straw Hats ever get a top-tier ship? Franky needed that 200 million Belly to buy the Adam Wood.
So Sandy pretended not to know, though he felt guilt nagging at him.
Then Luffy blurted out to Barry, "So how much does it cost to fix our ship? We have a lot of money—really a lot."
Sandy nearly had a heart attack.
Is this how you negotiate?!
Luffy continued, "Make it stronger, add more cannons, make it faster!"
Nami added, "And make the outer hull beautiful! And redesign the rooms!"
"And a huge bronze statue!" Luffy declared.
Kaku looked at them. "You've gone through a lot of extreme sea voyages, right?"
"Of course!" Luffy grinned. "We flew into the sky, climbed mountains, survived storms—so give it a good repair! I'm not lying!"
Kaku sighed. "I'll be direct. The damage from battles is too severe."
Nami asked nervously, "Do you mean… it'll take a long time?"
"No." Kaku stood up and said plainly:
"I'll be direct: your ship cannot be repaired—even by us."
