Haruto slept like a baby that night, spent from all the tiresome work he had to do throughout the day.
When Haruto woke up the next morning, he happened to habitually glance at the missions panel in his mindspace where he was surprised to find a new addition below the mission Unohana had issued him.
Mission Aim : Heal a hundred people with injuries.
Mission Assigned By : Unohana Retsu.
Mission Reward : Unohana Retsu's Knowledge About The Human Body And Soul.
Progress : Twenty out of Hundred.
'Twenty people healed? When?'
Unohana seemed to have heard Haruto's question since she replied promptly, 'I counted the people you healed from the poison in those that you healed from injuries.'
'Oh my god!!! Thank you!!!'
'Your welcome dear child… I hope you grow stronger soon and bear ripe fruits for all the trouble you've been through.'
Hearing Unohana's traditional blessing Haruto sighed since he had a feeling that the blessing was only because Unohana wanted Haruto to grow stronger faster so that she could fight a stronger him.
Haruto then got dressed for the day after a quick shower before having his breakfast and leaving for training ground seven.
Once there, Haruto met up with Kakashi who said to him the same thing as yesterday, "Haruto, you'll be performing practically today too. Go to the I.T department and find Daichi again, he'll guide you on what you've got to do today."
Haruto sighed since the work had been tough and he hadn't been very enthusiastic about it after the first couple of extractions.
'I miss my gaming pc…'
'How long until I eventually build one in this world?'
'Will there even be games to play on it?'
'Who will even make those games?'
Haruto trudged along towards the I.T department before talking to the same guard as yesterday, once he had Daichi's location, Haruto went straight to the Interrogation and Torture chambers where Daichi was seemingly working on an upside down hanging prisoner again.
Haruto had come to learn that that was Daichi's favorite torture method.
Haruto guessed it was something to do with disorienting the prisoner while he was being tortured to avoid giving him any sense of familiarity, but perhaps there were other reasons, he didn't find it in himself to ask, fearing that Daichi might treat it as another dumb question and berate him about it.
"What do you want me to do? Give you an invitation to get inside? Get inside!" Daichi shouted without even giving Haruto the time to open the door.
'Gotta learn how to walk without making a sound… otherwise everyone and their mother will know that I'm around them…'
Haruto got in, looked at the nearly corpsed man once and without even Daichi telling him what he had to do, quickly unpinned the lever holding him up and pulled him down.
"Are we dissecting this one too or should I just remove the poison from this one?"
Daichi snorted, "He's marked for dissection. Swallowed a poison pill, if you can locate the poison pill before it dissolves we can save him for long enough that he will be useful."
"How did he even get a poison pill in here? Was he not checked before he was brought in?"
"That's what we have to find out… he turned blue all of a sudden while I was interrogating him… classing poisoning."
Daichi didn't say anything at that point so Haruto quietly began his work of scanning the body with the Poison Extraction Jutsu.
Haruto was looking for a pill that was dissolving quickly in the blood and found nothing of substance. There were no impurities in the man's bodies other than what appeared to be a half digested meal inside his stomach.
It seemed like the spy was picked up recently from somewhere in the village since Haruto could still smell the fresh scent of flowers from the man's body in spite of the smell of blood, probably from some soap or perfume.
The man was naked, as most of them were, so Haruto didn't focus on that. Instead Haruto tried his best to figure out what sort of poison the man had ingested which allowed him to poison himself.
Haruto worked through the man's body carefully, going about his stomach and intestines, but found nothing of note.
'Is the poison in his esophagus?'
Haruto checked the esophagus for a second but found nothing of note there apart from a wound in his throat that Haruto assumed he'd gotten during the fight to capture him.
Foam had started appearing around the man's lips by now so Haruto turned to Daichi and relayed to him what he'd found.
"I haven't found any poison pill in his body, there's a wound in his throat but that's probably from the fight he got into when he was captured."
"Hmm…!? There shouldn't be a wound like that…"
"Oh?" Haruto asked with confusion before an idea sprouted in his mind as he carefully looked at the wound in the man's esophagus once again.
"Aha! Found it!"
"Where is it? Can you extract it?"
"I don't know how the man did it, but he has a storage seal carved in his esophagus… I suppose it stores the poison and is leaking it directly into the blood after creating an internal wound in the esophagus. I don't think I can extract it without triggering the seal that's being used and making the wound worse." Haruto said while pointing out where the seal was.
Daichi clicked his tongue and pushed Haruto aside, he took out a kunai and stabbed directly into the man's chest right where Haruto pointed out the seal existed.
"There, the seal's gone now…" Daichi mumbled before his palm glowed a strange greenish hue and the wound on the man's chest was put back together as the exposed tissue clotted and formed a scab which fell over as new cells emerged from underneath it all.
Haruto's eyes stayed peeled as he watched the jutsu Daichi performed, "Mystic palm?" Haruto mumbled.
Daichi said nothing and simply ordered Haruto once again, "Extract the remaining poison from his system…"
Haruto stepped up and began using the poison extraction jutsu once again to extract all the poison mixed into the blood stream of the man's body.
The blueness of his lips slowly gave way to a reddish hue as the poison was extracted but before Haruto could end, Daichi asked him a simple question.
"So how did he poison himself then?"
Haruto focused on extracting the poison, a task that was still slightly difficult for him to do because of the complexity of the human body, but he answered nevertheless.
"He obviously didn't get a poison pill in here… he had it inside him all along. He'd been saving up his chakra by gathering trickles of it from behind the chakra seal on him to unlock the storage seal drawn inside his body…"
"Good…" Daichi finally praised, but that praise was short lived, "At least you're not a complete idiot."
Haruto allowed himself a smile since he was facing away from Daichi and he kept it strictly hidden from him.
In the end, Haruto spent the rest of his day there 'healing' about ten more prisoners who they then tortured to get all sorts of information about the world at large.
Most of it was nonsensical, having to do with bandits and other rogue shinobi, but some of it was interesting… for example, Haruto learned that Orochimaru had recently gone missing from the black markets. He hadn't appeared to pay up on some of the missions he had posted to be delegated. Although his various businesses were being conducted normally by his lackeys, he himself hadn't appeared there recently in quite some time.
'Did he die?'
'Did Jigen kill him too?'
'...no… Orochimaru will probably live for as long as he has that Cursed Seal mark on Anko and his other subordinates, that's his resurrection token.'
'And if his subordinates are all carrying out business as usual he's probably alright too…'
'Is he busy with some research?'
'What sort of missions does he even put up on the black market?'
'Kidnapping people to be his specimens?'
'How strange…'
'Wait… if he's busy with research… did Black Zetsu contact him to improve the Impure World Reincarnation Jutsu and resurrect Obito… or maybe even Madara?'
'Will the Eye of the Moon plan be fast forwarded?' Haruto asked with panic.
