Soon Shalt said he found the most likely location and he hovered over the roof. There was fighting going on all over but in pockets. She told Shalt to get back in the air then jumped off the roof, flapping her wings. She entered the building just after a person who looked like Quinn. There was a 2-spike off to the left and right with another dalki around the corner.
Low enough so the others couldn't hear, "take the left, Vincent. I have the others," she said as she drew her sword. She blooded it in case it was needed. She had not fought them before so she was going to learn today. He was already springing into his attack. This storage room had a high ceiling so she had more room to play.
The first was easy. They heard Vincent speak but didn't see her small frame behind him. The one on the right soon had its head separated from its body. The second was not so easy since Vincent wasn't exactly quiet and the sound of combat was obvious. She soon found out the sword went through a 3-spike better than a demon-tier. She and Vincent finished about the same time.
"Is that a blood weapon?" he asked seeing the glowing green near the hilt and in the center of the sword the way it is on some vampire blood weapons, the blood charge almost depleted.
Lana nodded.
"Whose blood?"
"Mine, of course." Lana chuckled.
"How was it made? I'd love to inspect it once this is over."
Lana giggled, "you have an inspect skill… ?" Lana dropped her voice, "are you controlling Quinn's body?"
Vincent nodded.
Lana looked at him, "did you create the system and somehow got stuck in there?"
He stared at her.
"Go finish off the dalki. I'll get them treated and out of here."
Lana turned and beckoned everyone to come out of hiding. She scanned them all, checking their energy for injuries. She had been flooded with greetings and questions but she didn't hear any of them. She was digging through her bag pulling things out. She handed each vitality bars which was a new thing for her. She then pulled out a pot and fixed up Deal who was bleeding. The Graylash man was suffering from broken ribs so she hooked him up.
"Lana, say something. Please. Are you angry?" It was Deal's voice.
Lana nodded, "I am, actually. I know you've trained for this but look how many are gone? You'll be coming home with me and staying there. You will keep up with your training so you are more ready next time."
She looked at the man who had seen better days. "I owe you a great debt for caring for these children. As you can see, they are special. Would you like to come home with us as well to recuperate before returning home? Your people are also fighting. You need to regain your strength so you can fight with them at your best."
He smiled, "Grim Greylash at your service, my dear lady."
Lana giggled, "Lana Plantwell at yours."
They shook hands then she called Shalt to come pick them up. She needed to find Sil next. As Shalt lifted off to gain distance between the ground and the ship, Lana heard a lot of noise in the center of the shelter. She flew in that direction and found Not-Quinn fighting a 4-spike and trying to do so without all of Quinn's skills and abilities. The person controlling the body only knew how to use the blood aura. The others were fighting the 10 other dalki around him. Lana used this opportunity to use up the blood charge in her sword. The dalki she hit with her sword died.
She winked at Fex since it was him she helped. She walked over to the Blades who were staring at Not-Quinn who said he could handle it. Soon he gave up and asked for help. It didn't take long for teamwork to prevail and the dalki was defeated, telling them all Slicer was going to beat them all.
"Sil!" Lana called out.
"What the hell are you doing here!"
Lana giggled, "it's good to see you, too. I was hoping to rescue my faction members but it looks like I'm too late."
"The shelter was evacuated hours ago."
"Do you know where they went? I'll ask Sam or Logan… "
"You need to leave this planet, right now. Hilston is still alive."
Lana sighed, "the children are all on my ship. I'll leave when I'm ready. I need to know where to go to find my faction members. If you want me off this planet, help me find where they evacuated to."
Sil sighed while gritting his teeth. Lana thought it was really cute and quite the interesting feat. However, he also didn't seem to be budging from his spot.
Max, Can you help me find Sam? She asked her familiar in her mind. It had been a while since she asked him for his help. In the meantime, she took off to look in a different direction.
Sil jumped up and grabbed her feet, "oh no you don't… You're staying here where I can protect you."
"Excuse me?" she looked at him like he'd gone insane. She decided to land at his side because that actually hurt a little. She didn't think that was the intention but he spends most of his time away. He didn't understand her evolved body the way she did.
Not-Quinn tried to support her, "you know she killed 2 dalki in the time it took me to kill one. You know she's strong, Sil."
"That's beside the point," he shot out at the fake Quinn. He took a deep breath. "Let's go find Sam."
They did eventually find him but he was watching the fight off in the distance that had been going for literally hours. While she talked to Sam about finding her faction members, she heard the talk behind her about taking down the mother ship that was over the planet. The discussion ended with them all agreeing it was impossible for them to do so. She thanked Sam, de-summoned Max, and walked off saying, "watch this."
She had Shalt come get her and she went straight to the cargo bay after a quick conversation with him. The children were buckled in, mostly. There were a few doubled up. Grim was sitting in the co-pilot seat. Shalt opened the cargo bay door and she was looking down at the top of the dalki mother ship. She had one shot to get this right. The air was thin this high up and that door would only be open for a short time.
Lana brought out all three pieces of her soul weapon. She closed her eyes and kissed each one hoping beyond hope this would work. She placed them in her hand in a specific order. She fired off the trunk weapon she had used so seldomly. She had aimed at dead center because she didn't know how to account for wind and such. It hit the other side but it was enough to rock the ship. Soon it was falling from the sky. She was in a lot of pain, however. She had strapped herself in but she was still pushed back against the wall by immense pressure.
Still, the explosion she watched was spectacular.
