Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 - Meditation

She woke up with the sun feeling rested. She survived the night without a nightmare. Lana looked over and her roommate was still sleeping so she got up and ate more of the food left over from the previous day before sitting down on the floor for her meditations. Just as she sat down, Kattie opened her eyes and sat up quickly.

"I don't mean to intrude but is it possible for you to teach me how to do that?"

Lana nodded, "Of course. I learned this from a book but I think it would be faster if I taught you then sending you to go searching for it." She smiled really big. "come sit opposite of me."

Kattie did as asked. Lana then walked her through the process then they proceeded to work with the white light. Once done, they both felt stronger. Lana explained to her how she used this energy to improve her combat prowess and on everything she grew.

"Do you want to hit the shower first or can I?" Lana asked.

"You go first. I want to feed Sven," was the reply.

Breakfast this morning was uneventful as Lana once again smiled in the direction of the beautiful blond. The morning classes continued to be useful and she was beginning to think this place wasn't as bad as Dens warned them it was. At lunch time, she decided to go to the library. She had some purchases to make and some books calling her name. This time she was going to see if she could check out a few books and study under her tree. As she got to the aisle where the shelves of healing books were located, she noticed something odd at the other end of the aisle. A boy has his mouth on the neck of a girl she had never seen before. The girl looked out of it while the boy was swallowing. She ducked back and watched with as little of her body exposed as possible. Being short was a good thing sometimes. She watched as the boy finished and raised his head then looked down at the girl who wasn't moving. She noted a bit of blood on his chin which he wiped off. He then lifted her off the floor and rushed from the library.

As they left, she thought I guess vampires do exist. She then selected a few titles and went to the kiosk to figure out this contraption to check books out while her mind was preoccupied. It took her quite some time to figure it out but she eventually got it. She then went to the market computer and ordered 4 pots for growing plants that had tight-fitting lids designed to work as a greenhouse for seeds, some candles, and some yeast so she could bake bread. She took her codes to the receiver station once more and happily opened her packages. She placed everything in the bag she always carried with her and was getting ready to head to class because lunch period was almost over when the girl and boy entered and went to sit at a table. She watched as the girl hit the privacy ball in the center of the table and was quite intrigued. She noticed the boy in question was the boy who refused to take the ability book and sat with the blond boy at meal time. Does he have a girlfriend already? No, they were not holding hands and it didn't appear they knew each other very well but they were talking. While she observed, the blond boy walked in and noticed the two sitting at the table and didn't look happy. This day is getting more and more curious. It was almost time for afternoon classes so she followed the blond out, hoping she could introduce herself while taking note that mister beautiful had bruises on his face. He got to the school building faster than her so her attempt to meet him failed. She didn't see which room he went into. She headed to class and noted all of her friends were already there.

"Hey guys, what did they serve you for lunch?" Lana asked.

Alto laughed, "We are looking forward to getting some meat for you to cook us tonight!"

Lana laughed, "that good huh?"

Kattie chimed in, "I think Sven's breakfast looked more appetizing."

They all laughed.

Soon after, the bell for afternoon classes rang and everyone sat down quickly as Nis entered the room and conducted class. Lana tried to pay attention but Mister Hunk was injured and the interesting boy who refused the book lived off blood. She had promised herself to give her fellow students some privacy, but she decided that she needed to start looking at the energy of the people around her.

She started with the aura energy and looked at the teacher and studied what she could see. She was able to determine he was really strong but also very fair. He seemed to be someone she could trust but would avoid that idea for now. He was an adult after all.

She scanned the room looking for energy that would match potential bullies and found quite a few options in that area. She looked at them in the normal way to memorize their faces. She then noted that once again, Logan was not in class. Another mystery she may decide to try to solve one day.

Eventually classes ended. Dinner would be served in just a short while but the friends had no intention of returning to that establishment today. They all headed toward the park. Lana noticed the boy and girl again walking toward a deeper area of the park. Lana informed her friends she was going to head to the tree and get things ready. "How much do you want from me toward the meat?"

They all looked at each other. "Well, we decided at lunch that if you are cooking, we are doing the buying. If there are ever ingredients you need, just let us know and we will get them for you."

Lana grinned, "Wish I had known that earlier. I bought yeast at lunch!" Then she smiled, "It's okay though. I wanted to experiment with something."

Dobin grinned because he knew what she was up to and that it would come out great. The friends split ways to get things as discussed and all appeared to be in a good mood.

As they walked in different directions, it didn't take long to get out of view. Her tree was not yet in sight when she heard the trees warning her of danger but she didn't see anything. Next thing she knew, she was hit from behind and slammed into a tree so hard she was winded. She started to turn around but was slammed into the tree again and she heard a vicious voice from behind that made her freeze. A voice she never wanted to hear again. Pucket. "Nice to see you here, Lana. The second years wish to send you a message. Stay away from low levels."

She growled at him, "you know he's my twin. That will never happen."

He grinned an evil grin that she more felt and heard than saw, "I know. I'm looking forward to this. Mono sends his warning." With that, he was gone. She never saw him once.
