Watching the horde of monsters closing in, Dylan narrowed his eyes and took a stance, not a swordsmanship stance but a just a stance that he felt comfortable with.
Step!
Step!
The horde reached him in a matter of seconds before the first monster at the front jumped high, with its gleaming sharp sword, at Dylan with glowing hungry yellow eyes and drool coming out of its disgusting mouth.
Dylan watched this as the sharp edge of the sword came into his vision gleaming with dangerous intention, aiming to cut him in half.
Danger!
All the hair on his body stood straight sensing the danger coming at him before out of instinct, Dylan dodged the coming strike to the left.
Due to that, the attack missed and hit the ground instead.
Grrrrrrrr...
Gulp!
'Could have died!' He thought as sweat trickled down his forehead, he was nervous and afraid.
The monster, apparently a goblin, growled at Dylan before moving for another attack, this time, Dylan saw it well and raised his sword to block it.
Clang!
"Ugh! How it's this heavy?" Dylan muttered as he felt his arms going numb for a second feeling how heavy the attack was.
A monster this short with a skinny body having such a heavy attack made him think twice before blocking a full power attack from him.
[Use your mind dear, search for an opening and use it to cut off his neck~] the alluring mature voice of the demoness sounded in his head making him calm down a little and consider the words before focusing on sizing any opening from the goblin.
Swooosh!!
The goblin moved again before jumping on Dylan with its sword, using the same attack again.
Dylan saw it and figured an opening that he didn't see before. Taking a deep breath, he moved slightly to the side making the attack miss before with a swift and sharp move of his body, he cut off its neck clean.
The feeling of cutting off its neck made him feel like hot knife cutting through butter, realizing that this sword in his hand was so sharp, no, incredibly sharp.
Looking at the katana in his hand gleaming dangerously, Dylan smiled before suddenly, he felt something entering his body.
"Hoooh!" It felt so good that he nearly moaned but he faked it with an exhale of breath.
Power filled him making him stronger, sharpening all his five senses.
"So, this is what it feels like to absorb a soul." He muttered to himself before a smile spread across his face as he moved his gaze to the coming horde that was now away from him by few meters.
This goblin that he killed was just stupid to leave them and come for Dylan himself, thinking he could kill the weak human.
Not realizing that this human could be far dangerous that it thought.
Dylan took a stance before with a push on the ground, he dashed at the coming horde of monsters with all his strength.
Swooooosh!!!
!!
Dylan was surprised for a second by how fast he was but he quickly snapped out and focused on the fight ahead.
As he reached them, he raised his katana high before bringing it down in a vertical slash that cut another goblin into two.
Then felt the same feeling again, that intoxicating feeling of absorbing their soul and becoming stronger.
He became more excited and started slashing and killing any monster insight.
But their numbers were a lot making it quite difficult for him, but as time passed, he shortened their numbers to countable value, but through it all he suffered from cuts and wounds on several places on his body as well.
"Haaah.." Dylan released a breath before looking at the rest of the monsters that ranged from goblins to kobolds and various kinds.
They were all using rudimentary weapons ranging from swords to spears and daggers.
Their fighting style was predictable and easy for follow once you saw the pattern, which made it easy for Dylan to kill them.
Looking at his clothes, they were stained in green filthy blood making him frown before taking off his jacket and threw it away, it was so filthy and didn't feel good wearing it.
Besides, he didn't feel cold anymore as the temperature here was not too cold nor too hot, just the perfect balance between them.
Shifting his gaze to the rest of the monsters, Dylan dashed at them with incredible speed before killing all of them in a matter of seconds.
He didn't have a style and didn't train in sword before but as long as you know how to slash with the sword, then that's enough to take care of these monsters.
But, if he faced some monsters with higher intelligence than those, then things might get difficult for him.
"I need to train my swordsmanship." He said as he looked at the bloodied katana in his hand before with a flick, he got ride of the blood on it.
[Don't worry dear, leave this to me~] suddenly he heard an alluring mature voice accompanied by a soft chuckle.
Although Dylan felt good hearing her voice, he knew that this wasn't the time for this now.
He doesn't know when the next tide will come, so he must at least practice a little.
[Open you left hand dear~]
Dylan did so before, out of the blue, an old book appeared on his palm.
Its title was Swordsmanship Training (Basic Level).
[Practice this book and master it dear, after that I will give you the next level~]
Dylan nodded before he found a clean spot on the ground and sat there, then willed for the katana to disappear before opening the book.
It was written in english despite it being old, but he didn't care and didn't want to ask, he preferred to be efficient at times like these.
Anyway, he started reading it with absolute focus as if his life depended on it, not noticing that there were six women of attractive beauty that could bring kingdoms to their knees, looking at him with flushed faces and fascination. As they say, when men are in deep focus they look handsome.
Time passed and Dylan finished reading the whole book, with his now sharp senses that went beyond mere human awareness, Dylan could easily comprehend it and understand every words written there.
After that he willed for the book to disappear like he did with the katana and it did before summoning his katana and started practicing the sword moves depicted in the book.
At first it wasn't efficient and precise almost clumsy movements, but as he practiced more and more, his body began getting the hang of it and slowly he began getting used to it.
Until suddenly, the ground shook making him stop what he was doing and look ahead, to see a cloud of dust closing in along with another horde of monsters bigger in number than the first one.
Dylan looked at them and grinned before readying his sword and stood waiting for them.
This time, he wasn't nervous like he was with the first horde of monsters, this time, he was focused, eager to implement what he learned and feel that intoxicating and pleasurable feeling again.
The feeling of getting stronger the more he killed.
"I'm coming, my EXP!" he said before speeding at the horde of the monsters with heart of steel and hunger in his eyes.
