"Holy Lord" A man's voice said "I am Elior, the priest of this village. As you may have heard a few minutes ago, the village is currently having a problem with demons. So, I plead for you to slay them all" He kneeled, hands in a praying gesture to his chest "If you accept, you will be handsomely rewarded and you will also gain the trust of all the people in this village, so please"
Cael thought for a moment before nodding "I would have accepted even if there were no rewards. I do not mind protecting the people"
"Holy Lord, we are deeply indebted to your kindness" He bowed at his feet
They walked out of the church, and then Cael saw the village. The cobblestone walls were damaged — some sections had collapsed. A thick fog blanketed the area, making it difficult to see anything at all.
"The demons reside near the granary, but do not worry. The Goddess will always watch over you, Holy Lord. Give it your all to banish them."
"Understood." Cael gripped the blade tightly in his hand, feeling the holy power course through his body as he walked toward the granary.
Inside, three demons were chanting, as if summoning someone — or something.
"Begone!" He stabbed one of them in the back, but his blade smelled faintly of blood.
Strange… demons don't bleed, do they? he thought, but brushed it off a moment later.
He made his sword burst into flames and burned the other two.
"Please, I have a family…!" one of them cried, almost sounding human. But he paid no attention.
"Trying to trick me into believing you're innocent? Not a chance!" he shouted, increasing the intensity of the flames until they were completely consumed.
When the demons were gone, he exited the granary.
