I nod and look at Eric again. His skin is flushed and I see the pain in his eyes. I hope everything will happen fast now, because I can't wait much longer. It is just over three in the morning and to see his pain is wearing me out.
"Mr Powell?" Dr. Stein comes in, closely followed by Dr. Pearson. I get up to quickly shake their hands and Eric waves at them.
"I guess he didn't want to stay inside any longer." Dr. Stein smiles. "Everything will be okay."
Dr. Pearson takes a look at Eric's vitals and then puts his hand on his belly. Eric tenses and Dr. Pearson nods. Then he looks up. "I think we need to prep him for surgery quickly."
Dr. Stein looks behind him and a nurse comes in with some things. "He'll need to wear one of these things and then we'll get him into surgery as soon as possible. When did he eat last?"
I try to wreck my brain, but I can't remember. "Between nine and ten." Eric's voice is strained.
