Chapter 3 - Wallet

After a moment to calm down, Jay, feeling somewhat relieved, turned his attention to the stack of dollar bills and jewelry inside.

Taking out the stack of dollars, Jay began counting them, and found that the amount of money his parents had left him was around $25,000.

This was clearly a large sum for Jay at this time. The basic salary of an average worker in Detos this year is around $4,500-$5,000 a month, which is equivalent to five months' wages for an average worker.

Furthermore, Jay received it for free, so it could be considered a stroke of good fortune.

"With this money, my life will be better, and I think I can renovate my house and make it nicer.

But with my current job, that's clearly impossible anytime soon, and right now, all I can do is rely on the system's help and see how far I can go." Jay finally made a plan.

Initially, he planned to end his job as an amateur writer and find a job that would generate immediate income.

Because no matter what his current situation, he needed to survive, especially since his bank account was already empty.

So now Jay could only find out more.

As for whether he could completely rely on the system, he could only see as time went on.

"Okay, it's time for breakfast, and now it's time to recharge." Jay decided to store all the belongings in his space.

On the other hand, he was already hungry and went to the kitchen to see if his rice was cooked. After everything that had happened, he saw that more than half an hour had passed in the morning.

Looking at the clock on the wall, he saw that it was already past 7:00 AM.

Turning on the gas stove, Jay then took a non-stick frying pan and placed it on the stove.

After heating the pan sufficiently, Jay poured in a little oil, and shortly after, he took out an egg from the refrigerator.

Cracking the eggshell and whisking it in a bowl, he added some seasonings and then fried the egg in the pan.

It took about five minutes for the egg to cook, and Jay picked it up.

Taking a plate of still-warm rice, Jay devoured his breakfast, which consisted of only a scrambled egg and a plate of rice.

Even so, Jay felt that the food he was eating was incredibly delicious.

Whether it was due to psychological effects, or whether he had received some answers from his family's will, or whether he had avoided the financial crisis that was looming before his eyes, Jay felt that his breakfast was incredibly delicious.

Changing into a t-shirt and shorts, Jay, having finished his breakfast, grabbed his outer gloves and a plastic bag containing trash.

Jay intended to look at the second piece of information provided by the system, which, according to the description, revealed:

There was a worn wallet containing tens of dollars in bills, lying in the garbage dump in his village.

After walking for about ten minutes, Jay finally arrived at the temporary garbage disposal site in his village.

The temporary garbage dump in front of him is a large dumpster that collects all the trash owned by all the villagers living in the hamlet.

After being stored for a while, a regular garbage truck will pick it up and take it to a large landfill managed by the city.

Staring at the mountain of trash in front of him, Jay could smell the mixed aromas of wet and dry waste.

Seeing this situation, Jay slightly regretted coming to the dump, but fortunately, the system provided directions so he could easily find the worn wallet.

"If the system hadn't provided clear directions to the wallet's whereabouts, I wouldn't have come here. Being a sanitation worker who handles waste is truly a commendable job, and it's not easy," Jay sighed and shook his head.

Considering how the garbage workers deal with the stench every day, fortunately, the wages are quite good in Detos City, in addition to health insurance and housing.

They are essentially paid according to existing standards.

Walking over to the pile of trash in the corner, Jay removed several packages containing electronic equipment.

After removing several After looking through the trash, Jay spotted a worn wallet that matched the system's description.

Looking around, finding no one else around, Jay quickly tucked the wallet into his space.

He turned back to his house. Upon arriving, Jay immediately took out the wallet, which contained dollar bills in denominations of 10s, 20s, and 50s.

After counting, Jay found he had $350.

"This isn't bad; it's a typical factory worker's income for 1-2 days." Jay was satisfied with his results and put all the money into his space.

Looking toward the kitchen, he discovered that his food supply was running low and he needed to restock.

"There's no food left in the kitchen, and I need to stock up on some food and snacks in the fridge.

So, let's go to the market to buy some," Jay decided.

Passing through his village street, Jay noticed that it was already 8 a.m.

He remembered the third piece of information the system had provided: that around 9:00 a.m., there would be a traffic jam caused by an accident between two automatic motorcycles that collided on that road.

After reminding himself to take another route, Jay then drove his motorcycle towards the traditional market near his house.

Detos III Traditional Market is one of the traditional markets near Jay's residence, about 5 km from his house.

It takes about 10 to 15 minutes by motorcycle to get there, but Jay, a local, knows many shortcuts.

So, it only took him about 10 minutes.

Upon arriving at the market, Jay saw the bustling market, and he realized that this was the third time he had visited this market since something major happened to his family.

This was because Jay, having been depressed for a long time, was not interested in venturing too far from home.

So, at that time, he only bought all his basic necessities at the nearby supermarket.

And this time, after deciding to change and accept the realities of his life, Jay chose to go to the market to shop.

Besides the much cheaper prices, the variety of goods sold was also diverse, so Jay could basically find almost anything he needed at this traditional market.

Parking his motorcycle in the parking lot, Jay then walked towards the meat and chicken area.

From the parking lot, Jay was greeted by numerous stalls selling various types of vegetables, including mustard greens, long beans, green beans, tomatoes, kale, spinach, chilies, eggplant, and many other vegetables and tropical fruits.

(Note: Jay lives in a city in a tropical climate.)

After walking for about 100 meters, a row of chicken vendors appeared before Jay's eyes.

However, Jay's feet seemed to have eyes, and unconsciously led him towards a chicken stall on the edge of the street.

There, a thin, white-haired uncle was busy cutting chickens for several customers who had come to his stall.

Seeing the familiar figure, Jay sighed, remembering his childhood when he often came to this market with his father and mother.

Waiting in line, Jay noticed the thin uncle's cutting speed was still as agile as it had been all those years ago.

"Please come back!!" He greeted his customers in a friendly voice.

"What would you like to buy, young man?" (Jay's youthful face often makes people think he's in his early or mid-20s) the uncle greeted Jay as he approached his stall.

"Uncle... I'd like to buy a chicken..." a mature man's voice reached the uncle's ears.

As if awakening, the uncle looked at the customer before him, and familiar memories immediately flooded his mind.

"You...
