The next day, Peter didn't come to school. He and Aunt May stayed at the hospital with Uncle Ben.
After what happened last night, Peter realized Uncle Ben's importance to him.
This kind middle-aged man had long been as important as a father in Peter's life.
Uncle Ben and Aunt May were like Peter's father and mother; they raised Peter from a young age, caring for him meticulously.
Peter only told Meng Ran and the others the next morning.
Meng Ran and the others decided to visit Uncle Ben at the hospital after school that afternoon.
In the afternoon, Meng Ran, Harry, Gwen, and Mary Jane all brought gifts to the hospital to visit Uncle Ben.
Seeing the haggard Peter, Mary Jane hugged him tenderly and comforted him.
Gwen also comforted Aunt May, while Meng Ran and Harry held Uncle Ben's hand, asking about his injuries with concern.
After receiving a blood transfusion, Uncle Ben's complexion had improved significantly.
He even joked with Harry and Meng Ran, "I can finally enjoy a vacation, even if it's in a hospital."
Seeing Uncle Ben's improved spirits, Meng Ran felt a great weight lift from his heart.
Although he already knew last night that Uncle Ben wouldn't be in serious danger, he could only fully relax after seeing him with his own eyes.
Just as they were visiting in the ward, several police officers also arrived.
They showed Aunt May and Peter the suspect's portrait and characteristics.
Seeing that familiar face, Peter immediately recognized him as the criminal who robbed the convenience store last night.
At the time, he had felt a sense of schadenfreude watching the cashier's awkwardness; he could have stopped that person but he didn't intervene.
Thinking of what happened last night, Peter was instantly filled with regret and guilt.
If he hadn't stood by then, but had chosen to stop that man, Uncle Ben wouldn't have been shot.
If the Ghost hadn't suddenly appeared last night, he and Uncle Ben would now be separated by life and death.
When Peter arrived at the hospital yesterday, the doctor told him it was fortunate the wound was treated promptly, the bullet was removed, and the bleeding was stopped.
Otherwise, Uncle Ben would have died before reaching the hospital.
But at the time, Peter only felt tension and gratitude towards the Ghost upon hearing the doctor's words.
However, now that Peter knew the culprit, his heart was filled with not only gratitude, but more so with regret and self-blame, which then turned into anger.
Meng Ran looked at Peter, whose face was extremely grim as he stared out the window; he knew those police officers had brought news of the suspect.
Looking at Peter's expression, Meng Ran could also sense his complex emotions.
Meng Ran secretly thought, "It looks like Peter might take action tonight."
Meng Ran had already decided to follow Peter tonight; he already knew the robber's location.
Seizing this opportunity, Meng Ran planned to have a heart-to-heart with Peter and help him correct his mindset.
After visiting Uncle Ben, the group left the hospital. Meng Ran dropped Gwen off at home and then returned to his own house.
As night fell, Meng Ran put on his battle suit and instantly left his bedroom.
With his teleportation ability, he no longer had to foolishly leap across rooftops to travel.
Relying on his speed and teleportation ability, plus the incredibly fluid movement technique "Wave Walk."
Meng Ran could confidently say that he was the fastest man in the world.
Of course, that's excluding Quicksilver, who he doesn't know if he exists yet.
"Little White, pinpoint Peter's current location," Meng Ran said.
"Peter is currently moving rapidly. He is approaching another marked target — the robber who shot Uncle Ben," Little White quickly reported to Meng Ran.
Meng Ran saw the marked route and quickly rushed to that location, using both Wave Walk and teleportation.
At this moment, Peter, dressed in a red and blue tight-fitting suit, was wandering through the city. He had already found several white thugs with long blonde hair, but none of them were the robber.
Just then, a police broadcast announced another person with similar characteristics to the robber.
Upon hearing this, Peter immediately headed in that direction.
When he arrived at that street, a white thug with long blonde hair was fleeing in a panic.
Peter reached out and shot a web, entangling the man's feet.
The white thug immediately fell to the ground after his feet were entangled.
Peter leaped and landed in front of the fallen man.
Peter turned the man over and carefully examined his face.
"It's not him again," Peter thought dejectedly after seeing the man's face.
He tied the man up with webs, then shot another web and quickly departed.
Soon after, the police arrived and took the white man away.
Peter's search was once again fruitless, and he couldn't help but become more irritable.
He hit the nearby wall with his hand in frustration.
With a loud crash, the wall instantly developed spiderweb-like cracks from the punch mark in the middle, then shattered and collapsed with another loud boom.
After venting his anger, Peter patiently resumed his search in the city.
Soon, another report came in. Peter quickly rushed to that location, then followed the route to search for the criminal nearby.
Peter arrived at an abandoned building.
This building had been abandoned for various reasons before it was even completed. There was no lighting inside; the only light source came from the lights of the adjacent building.
"This is a good hiding spot," Peter thought to himself.
Just then, a whooshing sound suddenly came from nearby.
It turned out the criminal thought the police were chasing him, so he picked up an iron rod and swung it at Peter.
Peter skillfully dodged the iron rod's strike, then used his foot to step on the rod that had fallen to the ground.
The criminal gripped the iron rod, trying hard to pull it back, but with Peter's foot on it, he couldn't move it an inch.
In desperation, he let go of his hand, intending to escape.
But Peter wouldn't give him the chance. He raised his hand and shot a web, tightly binding the fleeing criminal.
Peter approached the criminal, turned him face-up, and carefully examined the man's face.
Suddenly, Peter's eyes widened, then he said with hidden anger, "I finally found you."
After speaking, Peter grabbed the criminal by the collar and shouted furiously at him, "Why? Why did you hurt that innocent man yesterday!"
The criminal looked at the masked wack yelling in front of him and suddenly let out a strange cackle, "Why? You're asking me why."
"I was trying to escape, and he dared to stand in my way. Shouldn't he die?"
Peter looked at the man in front of him, his anger reaching its peak. Remembering Uncle Ben lying in a pool of blood, he extended his fist and slammed it next to the man's head, instantly punching a large hole there.
Peter tremblingly raised his fist. The man beneath him was also terrified, stopping his strange laughter and looking at him in horror.
Peter had never killed anyone; he ultimately couldn't bring himself to do it.
Although the man in front of him was so despicable, although he almost killed Uncle Ben.
But Peter still couldn't do it; his moral sense and the education he received restrained him.
A moment later, Peter made up his mind. He raised his hand again and shot a web, sticking it over the criminal's mouth, then reinforced it with another layer of web.
Peter decided to send this criminal to the police station to face legal judgment.
He carried the criminal and quickly hung him at the entrance of a police station, then he turned and left, swinging on a web to a rooftop.
Peter sat on the edge of the building, looking down at the night view below, appearing very lost and dejected.
"What are you thinking about?" a hoarse voice came from behind.
Peter quickly turned around and found it was the Ghost. He instinctively bowed to the Ghost and thanked him, "Mr. Ghost, thank you for saving my uncle."
After he finished speaking, Peter suddenly felt something was wrong. He was still wearing his mask and battle suit. Saying that would expose him as the person from yesterday, wouldn't it?
Looking at the stunned Peter, Meng Ran felt a surge of speechlessness, secretly thinking, "It's truly you, Peter. Only you, my brother, could pull off such a ridiculous and comical move."
Meng Ran had actually been following Peter the whole time, from when he caught the robber to when he tied the criminal up at the police station. Meng Ran had been by Peter's side, silently observing him.
Whether Peter decided to kill the criminal or turn him over for legal judgment, Meng Ran would support him and guide him.
Peter's final choice was somewhat unexpected, but upon closer thought, it wasn't out of place.
Because Meng Ran knew that Peter was just that gentle and righteous, and that's why Spider-Man was loved by countless people.
Meng Ran asked himself if he could have done the same if he were in Peter's position.
The answer was no; Meng Ran did not possess Peter's great character.
Many people could be like the Ghost, but very few could be like Spider-Man.
Meng Ran looked at Peter, who was somewhat flustered, and with a thought, he retracted his mask.
Seeing the Ghost transform into Meng Ran, Peter's eyes widened, and for a moment, he was speechless.
Meng Ran smiled at Peter and said, "Peter, let me reintroduce myself. I am Meng Ran, and I am also the Ghost."
